  1. Deb...I'm so sorry. Like the others, I understand too well the pain your feeling & I'm also crying tears for you. Don'y let yourself feel guilty for clearly doing what you have to do in order to alleviate the pain that sweet Tristan is enduring from the tumor. My thoughts are also with Jake at this dark time. You will have each other & your TDK family here to help you thru your pain. I'm sending wishes that Tristen will have a peaceful crossing.

    I lit a candle also

  2. CW, there are no words to express my sympathies. We all know that Tristan was a great cat and was deeply loved. He has had a great life, and you should take comfort in the fact that you gave him that life and that he loves you. Just remember that we only are the caretakers of "our" creatures, they belong to God, and He does not want them to suffer unduly. Hugs and tears for you and sweet Tristan. I have lit a candle in his memory.

  3. I lit a candle as well... I'm so sorry for your loss, CW. I agree with SMM who said that you are showing Tristan the highest form of love by letting him go home to the bridge. He knows you love him and that you did the best you could for him. *sigh* makes me think of when I had to euthanize my Sassy... that was 2 1/2 years ago and I still miss her. I know exactly what you're going through (as do a lot more of us, I'm certain)

{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} to you and Jake and everyone else who loved your Tristan. God bless you!

  5. CW, Tristan is now pain-free and being met by so many others whom have crossed over before him, they will show him the way. He will be waiting for you and those who loved him, to greet all of you and show you the way as has been done for him.

  6. Thinking specially of Jake right now, who will be finding out soon that his furfriend is gone.

  7. Sending many prayers to help you through this heart-sore day. I am so so sorry.
Tristan loved you for many years, and you loved him back. Someday when the pain is less, you will treasure those sweet memories. Love.

  9. Tristan purrs happily to himself. His eyes are closed, and he is aware of some large animal cradling him in huge paws.

He blinks, gazing into the wide, golden eyes of the Wolf of Gubbio.

"Welcome, Tristan!" rumbles the Wolf, rubbing Tristan's striped cheek with a large black nose.

"Welcome to the Meadow!" piping voices move over the velvet grass to the contented cat, lying in the paws of the great Wolf.

"You're here just in time!" exclaims Kizzy. "We're going to have a party in few days!" Kizzy rolls in the sweet grass, paws waving.

Norman nudges Tristan's head, and Bastian gives him a sandpaper kiss. Mr. Bug and his troop of kittens sit next to him, and other cats and a few dogs gather near. Bob and Jazz look up from their game and join them, moving through the emerald grass, and Joshie dances over to walk with them.

"We're having a birthday party next week," purrs a sweet mama cat. Her kittens are all grown, and one day she will see them again, and the kind lady who rescued them all.

    "A birthday?" smiles Tristan.

"Yes," says the Wolf. "Next week, next Wednesday, we have one soft day of Winter, wrapped in pretty snow and icicles, and we celebrate a birthday!"

"And you are just in time!" says the mama cat. "It's His birthday — that sweet young Man with the scars on His hands."

"And in the meantime," laughs the Wolf, rising to his feet, "tag, you're it!"

Tristan races across the Meadow, his body young and limber and feeling so good! Bob and Shaddo are in hot pursuit, and their laughter streams out behind him.

"He came surrounded by love, like Kizzy," whispers the Wolf. "They blessed, and they were blessed."

  10. (Crying) Emma, that's beautiful. I just printed it out, and it will go on my bulletin board beside your account of Norman's welcome at the Bridge.

Posted 3 years ago by Leeny #

  11. CW,
I am so sorry for your loss, but try not to worry about Tristan. Emma's vision is right, the sweet boy is playing in a meadow now and remembers nothing of his pain - he only remembers the love he felt here and the people who loved him. C.C., Pepper, Rusty, and my Boy are also there to greet him, along with many others. He will not be lonely or frightened. Tristan will have a good time while waiting for his family to join him.

I know your heart is breaking, but this really is only a temporary separation. Do not blame yourself for anything - you are a good mommy and did your best to give your baby a good life, and he stayed with you until it was time for him to leave.

    **hugs**

*says a prayer for CW and her family - that somehow they may be comforted and their pain eased, and that their grief may be short as the happy memories of Tristan fill their hearts*

  12. Oh No CW! I'm so sorry. Tristan has been spitting out his medicine perhaps for a while. No wonder he wasn't getting better. Maybe in his little self he realized it was better to let go and be through with his time here. Animals know when it's time and with all the love we have for them of course we do everything we can to correct their health problems. I know how painful this is for you and also know I can't take your pain away. Just know you and Tristan are in my thoughts and prayers. I know you will miss him so much but know too that you gave him a tremendous life of unconditional love and devotion. He knows this better than we do. God Bless you dear. {{{{Hugs}}}}

  13. This is just so heartbreaking. I am sorry. There are never enough "right" things to say at a time like this. Please know that it does get better with time.

  14. Joshie is there to greet Tristan. He's just glad he isn't the "new guy" anymore.

  17. Deb i am so sorry but you loved him for as long as you could and he knew that. He's at peace now and I'm sure Renee is giving him a good brushing and scratching him under the chin.

  20. So sorry to hear about Tristan, CW. I know how your heart aches. I also lit a candle for your furrbaby.

  21. I just got in from work and couldn't believe that the Tristan thread was at the top of the page. I've just read through all of your messages andtributes and can't even express how much they mean to me. They were kind to me at work today but only one person there was an animal lover and understood what I was going through. I did fine all day and it was actually a blessing to be at work and busy and not thinking about it.

Of course, I bawled all the way home. I called the ex and he told me the distressing news that when he got to the vet's office at 12:30, both vets had just left and wouldn't be back until 2:30. WT*? They left for lunch knowing that he was on the way? So he and my middle boy sat with Tristan for about 20 minutes, Tristan was purring and was happy to see them. They decided to run and do a service call down the road and be back at 2:30. When they got back at 2:30, Tristan was having trouble breathing. They petted and soothed him as best they could, but he did not purr. He was first given a sedative so that he would go to sleep; then while the ex was holding him, given the second drug.
Now I feel terrible that I did not put him down while he was lying purring in my lap. I am thankful though for all of you who urged me to get him to the vet and not leave him home alone today; he would have died this afternoon in the house all alone and never would have made it to his appointment tomorrow. On the other hand, I wonder if he would have preferred to die at home?

Why does this never happen easily?

  22. God was ready for him today, CW, and Tristan was ready to go. You provided the best crossing for him that you could. He passed in the arms of one who loved him. Please don't second guess yourself! I'm glad you are home now. How is Jake doing?

Posted 3 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  23. not home all by himself...you did the right thing. and it's always easy to second guess yourself. ((HUGS)) How's Jake?

Posted 3 years ago by linda #

  24. You absolutely did the right thing, CW! Like KW said, he passed amongst people he loved and who loved him and not all alone. I'm glad your Ex and son were able to be there and that you got to say your goodbyes earlier in the day. ((Hugs))

  25. Deb, I am so sorry for your loss, I didn't know, have been away for a bit. That is no excuse, but know my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Know that you did the best you could for Tristan. How is Jake doing? I wish you all peace and all the love in my heart right now. Mama Lynn

  28. I was off reading the candle page...what a beautiful tribute! I have lit candles for others before, but now that I have been on the receiving end I see what a blessing it is. To think that 43 people from 5 countries have lit candles for Tristan...it's mind boggling really.

Jake's dad told him when he picked him up from school, and Jake was understandably upset but is handling it better than expected. This is his weekend with his dad so he is over there.

Posted 3 years ago by Catwoman #

  29. Friends help friends, Deb, that is what this world is all about. Glad you found comfort in the candles. Hope Jake has a good weekend with dad dealing with the news, and hope you do as well. Take good care my friend and try to have a good weekend. Much love, mama Lynn
