  1. Thanks, it is a hard night. My other cats are being very attentive. I'm wondering if they know? Wolfie was very upset when Tristan was staggering around and went behind the door. He kept looking at him, then running to me and meowing, then running back to look at Tristan.

  2. I want to mention that at 14, Tristan was two years older than Jake! Jake has never been alive a day without him. I have a great picture somewhere of them sleeping in bed together only about a year ago.

  4. Catwoman, a few posts back, you asked why it is so hard to deal with the loss of a beloved furry soul. I am about two months farther along in the process than you, and I have decided that:

    1. I knew it was Joshua's time because I realized that terrible morning that although his soul was still here, he really wasn't my Joshie anymore. He told me that in a very special way, by doing something that he had never done before.

    2. Nothing as special as the love of a beloved feline companion is easy to lose. The alternative to the pain of loss of a beloved companion is to never have had that companion.

    3. In a sense, I am lucky in that Joshie knew that there was a black-on-dark charcoal tabby live-wire little boy kitty who needed the right home (the home of a tolerant guy who belives that kitties do no wrong and who doesn't have a lot of breakable stuff around) waiting at the vet. Joshie's last act of selflessness was to give Dashy and me to each other. Joshua must have known how hard his passing was going to be for me and sent me a cat who makes sure that there is never a dull moment. For example, as I write this with many tears, Dashy acting all clownycat with a paper sack and a throw rug. It ain't easy to cry and laugh at the same time. I know that Tristan is looking for the right kitty for you, and he will make sure you find each other.

    4. Finally, paraphrasing a thought from the prayer book that my denomination used in my youth, Tristan lives on Earth through his acts of affection and lovingkindness. Just because you can't hold him doesn't mean that he isn't touching your heart.

It does get better, I promise. Prayers for Tristan and Kizzy's beloved souls, and hugs for you and for Beth.

  8. I know CW. The house just feels so empty when one of them goes to the Rainbow Bridge.

  9. Catwoman, Misty and CJ and I send our love and deepest sympathy. We all know exactly how you feel. Do whatever it takes to take care of yourself. We care so much. I wish there was magic to make it better. Unfortunately there's only love and time.

  11. {{{CW}}} I am so sad for you. You are in my prayers. Emma's story is so soothing. Please don't second guess yoursef. We love the animal world and have to accept the differences between our world and theirs. Tristan is cradled in the arms of his loving creator and he loves you.

  12. Catwoman, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Tristan. Please know that you have done the right thing even though it hurts so very badly. There is no doubt in my mind that Tristan knows just how much you love him. Hugs to you and Jake and know that you are in my prayers.

  13. CW,
This vision came into my mind and I knew I had to share it with you. I hope it somehow brings you some comfort...

    **hugs**

    ------

*Tristan stares down from his place in the sunny green meadow. His eyes are on his family both human and feline. A long-haired calico approaches him and sits down beside him.

"I am worried about them, especially my mommy."

The Calico turns to him, "She will be okay. They will all be okay."

Tristan gazes back at C.C. "Even Jake?"

"Even Jake. You don't need to worry. It will be difficult for a while, but they will be okay. Now come, join the rest of us. There is a very special day coming up and there is magic in the air."

Several butterflies drift by the two cats, and Tristan cannot resist trying to catch one. Soon his worries drift away with the butterflies that have managed to elude him. This is truly a wonderful place.*

  15. Ivory Bill, your thoughts are so wise. My Redford is not in the best of health and is 17 years old. I know our time together is limited. I will try to remember your words when they are needed. Thank you.
CW, my prayers are with you--what a beautiful life you gave Tristan. (((CW)))
