Maybe he just got so scared that it will take him a while to calm down?

So pleased he's back Lisa - I'm sure he'll be back to his normal self soon. {{{hugs}}} for you for being so worried!

Thank you for your prayers everyone!!! I really did just about go bonkers last night.Mom is stalking around the apt. saying over and over, "I knew it, here we go. It's going to be Bob all over again. WHY do you do this to yourself? What is wrong with you?? Why can't you leave those damn cats alone?" etc., etc.
How could I possibly NOT adore them?
Tex stayed close to home today. And despite her ranting, mom kept one eye on him while I was at work. He at a good dinner when I got home around 5, and got a brisket treat from our leftovers--they all indulged. I noticed that a huge, nasty opossum wandered up while I was outside passing out the brisket. Tex got very upset, hissed and put on a big show. he's not done that before, either to possums or coons, so I wonder if he mixed it up with a big momma possum.
He let me pick him up and bring him in for a pretty thorough exam. No broken bones, no ht spots, only scratches. So I'll watch his fever, food, water, etc., I'm so happy he's home. I just wish he'd never had this first fight. It seems to have stolen his sweet innocence overnight.
How wonderful that he let you examine him, Lisa! That is great!! I'm very happy to hear that he was more scared than hurt. *doing happy dance* :D
Do keep a close eye on his injuries. Do you think he'd allow you to clean them? Others have said that cat scratches become easily infected. I don't know about oppossum scratches.
Tex, you stay close to home where you are safe!!!

He won't let me now. But I think he'll let me by tomorrow. I have this great hydrogen peroxide in a trigger spray that will make it much easier to get scratches disinfected. But really, with his long, dense fur, they were hard to find!! I've got some experience watching (feeling, really) for absesses, courtesy of Wild Mr. Bob. So you can bet I'll be watching him like a hawk. And the very instant my mom's head it turned, he'll be going to the vet to be tested for Fe-Luke.
More anxiety. Oh well. It's not like he's going anywhere. I simply adore him.
