I want to start this with a prayer.......I just am floored ...My cat Perciville ......a beautiful himalayan, wats attacted by another cat ......and clawed in the eye ..we took him to the vet and once again we were faced with a Huge vet bill for the surgery .......we could not do it so we opted for the antibiotics and eye drops .....now my husband did not tell me that the eye could possibly be lost .....i think he did that because my stress level is really high ........Percy damaged his eye further and was bleeding, he is at the vet right now ......they want to operate but we can not do it .........so the option is sewing his eye shut and he will no longer have sight in that eye .........I am just drowning in the sorrow ....his eyes are the brightest blue, and before he went to the vet I brought him to my bed and he curled up on my pillow, he was in pain and wanted me .......I am so unworthy .....i am dealing with alot right now, I have some very unruly males that are fighting and peeing on everything, the trama they are inflicting is great. I am not willing to put the misbehaving ones to the pound, even if they have destroyed my house, peed on everything i own ......i seperated the most troublesome ones and alone they are loving and sweet ....this is NORMAL behavior for any pride of felines, they are acting on instinct .....what can i do .....I need a friend .......

JF, my late Joshua lost the use of his right eye in a fight when he was three. He was a Tonkinese (a breed derived partially from Himalayan) and gorgeous, with beautiful green eyes. He was just a gorgeous afterward, plus two bonuses -- he became a real homebody, and his face got "character."
I am so very sorry that your beautiful Percy has been injured. I know that when Joshie was injured, I tortured myself with a bunch of "If I had only.." trips. It didn't do any good. Percy will be just fine; fighting is just one of the things that boy cats do. Don't fret too much, no matter how much you want to, you can't really change a cat's nature.

I am so sorry about Perciville. It is never easy to see one of our furbabies hurt. You are doing the best you can. Be thankful that there was an option for his eye other than surgery. It may have not been what you wanted but at least he will be able to overcome this and be a healthy kitty again.
I'm sending prayers for Perciville a speedy recovery and to you for strength during this difficult time.Posted 3 years ago by ILoveMyCats #

My God JF you have had more than your share of stress and sorrow over the last few weeks. I am so sorry you are again having to go through this heartache with yet another beloved pet. Sometimes it just make you wonder what the hell you did that you are being made to suffer like this. I guess we all feel that way one time or another and there aren't any answers. There is never anything to say which will take away your pain. I will pray for your beautiful Perciville and for you to have the strength to continue without remore or self-blame. You are a wonderful person to do what you do and some of this goes with the territory I guess. Don't beat yourself up please. Keep us updated when you are up to it. ((((((((((((HUGEHUGS)))))))))

JF, the same thing happened to Jasper. After years of being the neighbourhood stray tom, and fighting etc, he had nothing worse than a ragged ear but after a couple of years with me, neutered and having become a total homebody, he was somehow clawed in the eye by another cat -- the full thickness of the cornea was ripped through -- and the vet had to remove it and sew that socket shut.
Jasper is not the world's most beautiful cat (though he is a lovebug) but his one beauty was his two big beautiful emerald green eyes. I loved to see them shining through my bedroom window at night when he decided he wanted to come in.
But guess what? He still has one beautiful big green eye. He doesn't seem to mind a bit. Cats live in the moment and he is fine. I don't think he even notices he has only one eye now. You will miss Percival's beautiful bright blue glance for a while but he will reassure you by being the same gorgeous cat he always was and then you will stop noticing.
Maybe you could talk to the vet about your other problem, with the fighting and peeing etc. Perhaps feliway or medication could help.
You have many friends here! {{{HUGS}}}

I'm sorry that Perciville is hurt. He should do just fine with one eye. He will always be your beautiful baby boy. Beauty is fleeting. His love for you will be as beautiful as it has always been. Please take care of yourself, JF! {{{hugs}}}

JF is there anyway to nueter all your whole Males!? that would cut the males need to fight and defend and spray!
As for your Percyville either have the eye removed or have it sealed! He will still be your baby and no matter what he looks like he will lve you dearly! If you don't he will go blind and that one eye will fade and dull so you will lose that blue eye either way!

Hi all .....thank you so much for all the kindness ....Percy had a operation last night to sew his eye shut ...we should get him back some time today .....to answer a few questions all of my males have had a spa day ...and I do use feliway .......there is just this primal cat behavior where they vie for some hyarchy within thier pride .......all of them individually are wonderful and sweet .....at night its becomes a jungle (LOL) I seperated Alexander and put him in a spare room and that seems to have cut down on the fights, now they are attacking Mickey so I must find a place for him to be in peace ....Im running out of rooms ...

JF, I'm so sorry to hear about Percy. I believe, though, that he can still have a good life, even with one eye, and you're doing everything you can to make sure he does have a good life.
I'm sorry you've had so much to deal with recently; that's really hard at this time of year (or any time, really).

You must be relieved to finally know the outcome and that Percy will be ok. After similar happened to Joshie, I called him "Bright Eye" and "Tough Guy" for the rest of his life.

I'm so sorry to hear about Percy. Emerson's left eye has been cloudy since we rescued him. He doesn't see much out of it and his depth perception isn't great. But he is a love bug and quite beautiful. He has one beautiful blue eye and one cloudy blue eye. Doesn't slow him down a bit.

Gosh, JF - I am just so sorry about all of this, and all that you have been through lately. But one thing I do know - you DO have a friend. Lots of them!
Percy will learn to live with this. The other males - I understand. My Skimbleshanks sprayed his whole life, even though he had been to the spa. I tried every product out there and could never stop him. In the end, I just bought tons of carpet cleaner. I wish I had an answer.

((((JF))))) I know how you feel about the money. I don't have enough either and it makes decisions so much harder. I think modern medicine is a mixed blessing--they can do so much but if you afford it you have to deal with the guilt and fears and what ifs.
