i am diabetic. and i had a candy bar saturday afternoon. and my father, who is borrowing my suv today, found the wrapper in the suv and put it at my breakfast spot this morning. and of course my mom saw it. no one has said anything. when my mom was finished doing paperwork and left to play on the computer desk, i put the wrapper in the trash. this is more evidence for her that i am not "changing my spots" as far as my bad habits. i am only sorry that i got caught. my blood sugar numbers are not great this week with all the goodies at the house, but i vow to get back on the straight and narrow as soon as Christmas is over...

Cheri I know you are sick of hearing it from your Mom, but I have to tell you that this is dangerous. We all have bad habits. You have to understand your disease--you can and will die from it if you do not treat yourself right. We just lost a valued member who had diabetes. I would give anything to have her here. I have lost family member and friends to this disease. Perhaps instead of condemning your Mom, who obviously cares about whether you live or not, and listen to what is happening. She does not want to bury her daughter! Your numbers are off because you are eating sugar--the stuff that can kill you if not handled properly. I am very sorry if you think this is no different then your Mom, but I don't want to have to have you die because you will not face the reality of this disease.

Cheri it is not easy and everyone fals off the boat! Just remind yourself why you shouldn't eat it! Because on diabeties on both sides of my family sugars are a rare intake for me! Even when I am craving it I tell myself no! Just work on it it will get better! hugs cheri and a Happy Birthday!

Cheri, look for sugar free chocolate. Airy sent me some Hershey's sugar free chocolates. Because they are individually wrapped I limit myself to one every 4-5 days. It's a treat for when I have been extra good. I know you can get your sugars and temptations under control.

HEAL YOU SINNER..............HEAL I SAY.................. palm firmly placed on your forehead. Please don't fall backwards and hit your head.
I can't imagine not being tempted by sweet goodies. You're a big girl Cheri. You will do the right thing for yourself but I think it is to be expected that you will fail every once in awhile, especially at Christmas....Valentine Day.....Easter.........Halloween..........Birthdays..........
Oh dear.........HEAL YOU SINNER!!!!!

Cheri, I am also diabetic (Type II). Last night I was at my parent's for Chanukah, and my Mom had a bag of chocolate coins for my friend and for my Dad. But none for me. I am, well, forty-something, and have learned that Moms will always be Moms. So make sure you throw your candy wrappers in the neighbor's trash!

Cheri,
We all care very much about you, and we don't want to hurt your feelings, but we do worry about you when we hear things like this. Please be careful with your blood sugar levels. I know it is difficult not to want to indulge yourself during the holidays. Just please be careful. We want you to be healthy.*hugs*
