  1. I talked to BB today and she thinks her Perry may have this again, but the vet due to economic issues is only extending credit for one month. This is impossible for her to pay for should he need to stay.

Her question is do any of you know of any measures she can take at home to make him comfortable or fix this if this is his problem. I told her I would let her know.

    Thanks so much in advance.

  2. Maybe there's something here that will help, Lynn. Now, if you had asked me about UTI's in people I would be more help!

  5. I am only guessing but I think it would help him if you would get him to drink as much as possible. Don't however feed salt to him, but try to flavour his drinking water with tuna or meat juice.

  6. To determine whether your pet cat has urinary tract infection or not, check out the following symptoms:

    1. Pain while urinating, frequent urination, small or no urine at all, are among the first signs to look for.
    2. Excessive grooming of genitals, crying while doing it and blood in urine are almost certain symptom of urinary infection in cats and dogs.
    3. If your cat has stopped using its litter box and urinates outside of it, you can suspect presence of UTI.

You may try homeopathic bladder infection treatment for canines and cats, or go in for herbal and natural remedies in case you do not want your pet cat to go through the agony of strong antibiotics, which more often than not, have dangerous side effects.

  7. Miu is absolutely correct. She must get the cat to drink as much as possible and at least for the time being stop feeding it dry food immediately. This is vitally important because dry food absorbs the fluids in a cat which adds to the acidity of the urine which affects uti. She can also add some water or even diluted broth to the canned food to get more fluid into it.

It has also been suggested that spring water or filtered water is better than tap water because chlorophyl may add to the problem.

The one other thing I need to stress, particularly if this is a male cat, is that uti is painful and can be fatal. If there are signs the cat is in distress or there is blood in its urine she must get it to a vet immediately. Delaying even a few hours can mean an agonizing death. When Toby had it the vet literally grabbed him out of my arms when I went in and ran into the operating room yelling back over his shoulder he would speak to me later.

  8. Thank you all for your advice and help. I have just passed the infor to BB, and she thanks you all for your help. Say a prayer, I don't think this is an immediate need for help but anyone who asks for help can always use prayers. Thanks again.
