  1. This is kind of a rough draft, but we have lost so many beloved companions lately that I thought I should post it. I cried (therapeutically) while I wrote it; I hope that it brings comfort to someone else:

My darling sweet lovely furry friend
You gave me comfort until the end.
My time with you was a special gift
Your purr always gave my spirit lift.

My sweet friend, you have to know
That I dearly love you so
I held you tight as I felt you pass
My brave little mog until the last.

Now you dance in the meadows
    And are climbing the trees
    You're chasing the butterflies
    (You know about bees.)

Here I weep in dark and cold
    Hurting to my very soul
Though I know each day is nearer when
I can snuggle you in my arms again.

You told me it was your time to pass
I know that life on Earth won't last
Thank you for telling the truth to me
For you suffering I could not stand to see.

From pain now I know you are truly free
Thank you dear friend for loving me.
My darling sweet lovely furry friend
You gave me comfort until the end.

  8. So beautiful, Ivory Bill! What a treasure the sweet love of a kitty is, and how hard to lose them. But I know that I will see my babies again someday.

    Thank you for sharing.

  12. Thank IB...lovely poem. It makes me walk quite softly around here. This winter is being harsh on a couple of my older outdoor babies. I'm quite afraid it may be their time for the bridge. I hope not. But,this poem reminds me of how much I want them to have quality of life back (but can only do so much for them). When it's their time...

  14. Thank you Bill, you are truly a blessing to us all. The poem was lovely. I pray for all of our furry families and send to them the knowledge that those of us that are still hear, will see them again one day. Love and purrs to us all.

  18. Yes, CTR, that hole can never close--they take a piece of our hearts with them, only to give it back when we are reunited on the other side.

  19. Bill, thank you so much. You wrote this as though it was directed right at me. Jiggs will be gone a year next Saturday, and Shaddo has only been gone six months. This was very therapeutic. Have a wonderful Christmas, and may the healing continue for all of us.

  20. Very touching, thank you for sharing this with all of us. My Calvin has been gone just about 7 months and I still miss him so much and I think about him every day. What's even more wonderful about our little furry buddies is that they don't even know how much of a impact they have on us. They don't even have to try to be so amazing, they're just being themselves.
    Thank you again IB.
