  1. I'm close to being done. All gifts are wrapped. It's just the cooking that needs doing.

Mili (I'm just sure it was her) managed to pull one bulb out of a string of lights on the tree. Which was connected to many other strings !! I had a mostly dark tree. Just try to find the one socket without a bulb in it ! ACK! I have jerry-rigged everything so now most of the lights are lit... the tree has a ring around the middle with no lights. LOL And I won't be able to use the 'rotate' on the tree stand because of an added extension cord. Oh well...

  2. Awwww, I bet Mili had fun :)

I have to admit, I put all the lights on the tree and when I was finally done, I realized the plug to put into the extension cord was at the TOP of the tree, not at the bottom. Christmas trees make my hands break out in rashes and itches and I really didn't want to do it all over again, so my tree looks very nice - it has a white extension cord going to the top of it! :)

  3. Pre-lit trees are the way to go!. Just put them together and plug them in! I have a small fiber optic tree that doesn't need to be put together just fluff the branches an go.

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Christmas Adam....Since adam came before eve the day before Christmas EVE is Christmas ADAM.... get it? Ok stop throwing things at me!

  5. Hi everyone!

    rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We decorated our tree Sunday night, Eric batted a couple of baubles when they were on the floor, but hasn't shown much interest since. Phew!

    rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I've finished work now, 5 days off, woo hoo! Have brought some work home, but shan't be touching that til after Christmas day!

    rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That? That's my new Tens machine! I am wired up and plugged in - been a bit of a strenuous few days on the old shoulder, so I thought it a good opportunity to road test it - I've got it on massage mode, and it feels pretty good!

  6. ohhhhhhhh, that was pretty bad KYKAT! :p

Hiya LV! Max gettin' all purtied up for the holidays? He doesn't need it..he's purty enough!

Hi MCW...seems like you're all set...nothin' to do but relax!

  7. LOL KyKat - which, BTW, I just got your beautiful card! Abby cannot stop staring a the beautiful cat picture in side.... markings very much like her own. Is that a meeze, ragdoll, or what? and who? - which one of your babies is it? Sure is a pretty cat!

Laughing about the tree & light stories! This year, since I could not motivate daughter to help, and hubbs has been working such long hours, I tackeled the tree decoration myself! I finally got smart, and plugged in all the light strands for a check and set the blinkers the same speed, then put them on the tree. I have to say, there's been years where I've had "black out" strands, or the blinkers are set at different speeds, and it makes you crazy to look at!! LOL

  8. Nothing to do but relax....for the next 2 hours - then (when Chris is back from football) we're hitting the supermarket, hoping it will have calmed down a bit by then. At least there won't be hoardes of badly behaved brats lobbing yoghurt pots at each other that late...

Posted 3 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  9. "lobbing yogurt pots at each other"??!! the heck???? :O

  10. What really kills me about the grocery stores nowadays is that some STUPID person came up with the bright idea of making the shopping carts into childrens rides. Now they look like race cars, or a bus, or a wagon, but they are TWICE as long and take up the whole isle, so no one can pass them. They are the biggest pain in the A@#@$%%. So here's Mom with three kids in this huge cart, completely distracted & yelling at the kids, and backing up all the isles!!!!! Obviously invented by someone who DOES'T SHOP MUCH, or doesn't shop with kids - A MAN (no offense to the great guys on TDK)!!!! Sorry, just had to vent!!

  11. Hi MCW!! *Kilroy waves wildly*

Glad to hear you get a little bit of relaxing time, hope the supermarket's not too crazed. And yes, would love an explanation of brats lobbing yogurt pots :)

  12. *waves wildly back at Kilroy*

Oh it was just a one off incident a couple of years ago, and in a different supermarket too - but there were a couple of mini-yobs who were throwing yoghurts at each other, their parents not taking a blind bit of notice...GRRRRR!!!! What is it about supermarkets that brings out the worst in people? Stopping in the middle of the aisle having a chat, blocking the way, abandoning trolleys in the middle of the car park, I could go on...

Posted 3 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  13. abandoning their cart (trolley) RIGHT BEHIND your car...

Posted 3 years ago by linda #

  14. Yup, you got it. So it's the same t'other side of the pond!! Honestly, road rage has nothing on supermarket rage. I can get positively psychotic in that place!

Posted 3 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  15. oh me too! and the "do you have a pen?" query when writing a check AFTER the total amount has been rung up! Ya couldn't ask for one first?!

Posted 3 years ago by linda #

  16. GD--I think that you need to call the person who called you yesterday (new client) and let them know that you're available if they still need you. Then, leave a message for the RUDE people who feel that your time is worthless letting them know that you will not be available to watch their pets. Wouldn't you rather have dependable clients than ones that take advantage of you? If the woman balks at you not sitting for her dogs, just stress that you've been over there 2 times and that YOU RUN A BUSINESS and had to book 'a reliable' client. It'll be hard to do, but you've got to put your foot down or people won't get the message. If you want me to call her for you (really!), I'll be glad to do it! ;)

Posted 3 years ago by FondaHonda #

  17. Thanks, FH! I was going to tell the woman who called yesterday that I'll watch her dogs - she's not new, she just doesn't call often. The only reason I'll fit her in, is that she's in the same development as the woman I'm going to cat-sit for.
But I did lose the new one (the one who called a few weeks ago) because I couldn't fit her in with the rude woman's dog. Arrrgh.

  18. I am about to hit the highway and I don't know if I will make it on between now and Tuesday. So I am going to repeat my sentiments from the Happy Everything Thread from last week.

Thank you to all of you in the TDK Family for being there and for all that we have shared this year. (Joy, Laughter, Tears, Hope and the love of Kitties) I have been enjoying the Christmas cards! For those in the family who do not celebrate Christmas, I still wish you Joy and a happy and healthy New Year...whenever the New Year starts for you. So.....

Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, Joyous Solstice, Festive Winter, Fun Winter Break from School, beneficial solitude and wonderful family time! For those that are hurting, I wish you freedom from pain, For those who are struggling within themselves, I wish you inner peace. For those who are lonely, I wish that you reach out and in turn find people reaching back. I send you the gift of warmth, musical laughter and love.

    Headbonks and Purrs!

  19. FH, I agree with what you said about GD's dog watching client. I can't believe the husband didn't feel like answering the door! Didn't the woman tell him that she was expecting the dog watcher person? Geez. Is there anyway to cancel on those rude people and get some other clients? How much are they paying you, GD and is really worth the trouble with them? What is up with people nowadays? I just do not understand that kind of behavior. As FH said, I will call this woman for you. I can be nice but will be firm.

KYKAT, safe travels. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Headbonks and purrs, hugs back at ya!

  20. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you, KYKat. Please be safe on the road!

  21. Merry Christmas and thank you for the lovely cards FH & KK - and please travel safely!!! We'll see you when you get back

  22. It was an easy job, Karin, because it's literally down the street from the other dog I'm going to watch starting today. (yep, I'm contemplating three houses of dogs and one of cats - and my own!!)
I left her a message on Facebook and she just replied - "sorry, we were home, we must have not heard you knock". Are you kidding me? I knocked for several minutes and this time not even the dog make a peep - they were SO not there! >:-(

  23. My boss hinted that we might all get to leave early. Well, I leave normally at 4pm so I was hoping for around 1pm but that is only 25 minutes from now and she left to go get lunch. So I am guessing maybe we get to leave early and maybe not. I am still waiting for the stupid survey link. Called the company who is providing it and the guy went to lunch! I told them I need it before 3pm. If I don't have it by then, I am going to inform the Senior Director that I have done all I can but they vendor isn't working with me on this issue.

  24. Hey, can you send some good weather vibes in the direction of O'Hare Airport? I have a friend trying to fly out from there, and it's *really* important he gets back home this Christmas...apparently there's a blizzard :o(

Posted 3 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  25. I need to get ready to go to work. Arrrrgh! I'll check in later - I hope it's slow at the gym - my phone keeps ringing and I need time to call people back.

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  26. MCW, I'm not sure what the situation is at O'Hare right now. It is pretty bad here but I haven't heard that they are delaying flights at the airport. I think they are not getting as much snow south of us so maybe Chicago is OK. I hope your friend gets back in time for Christmas.

Posted 3 years ago by NNGM #

  27. MCW, there are three hour delays at O'Hare right now. I was watching the news and they say there a number of flights being cancelled and because of this, people are missing their connecting flights and are not able to get home by Christmas. One woman was trying to get from Washington DC to Seattle, Washington but was stuck in San Francisco. She had taken five flights and still was unable to get to Seattle and was being told to fly down to Los Angeles so that she might get a flight up to Seattle.

Posted 3 years ago by SylMiaFelixsMomma #

  28. Andy's is a direct flight, so hopefully at worst it will only be delayed, and not by too much...

Andy is my ex and his Mum has just been told her cancer is back, and is inoperable...just when they thought she'd reached the 5 year all-clear point

  29. I have just *done* Sainsbury's for Christmas. Hooray, no more shopping, now it's just cooking, cleaning and wrapping. Elizabeth will bring the tree in and decorate it tomorrow.
It's almost Christmas. I'm starting to get excited. Break out the mulled wine!

  30. MCW, this where I found the information:

    http://www.fly.faa.gov/flyfaa/usmap.jsp

Good for you PMuk! I still need to go to the store to pick up some egg nog. I am also thinking about picking up some nice minute steaks (aka cube steaks) to make myself a nice Christmas dinner as I don't think I will be going out to my parent's this year. I will get something extra for Mia and Sylvester too.
