A friend of mine was telling me she leaves the bag of peanuts for the outside squirrel she has just inside the back door. When the door is open, the squirrel will help itself to the nuts. Strangely, her two cats just ignore it. Her larger cat (20#) will bring home mice though.

I know that squirrels can be so destructive, but they are so cute (until they get in your attic). When we were stationed at Ft.Belvoir, Virginia, we had a very close and personal encounter with a squirrel. Our household goods had just been delivered and we took a little break and went and sat out on the tiny porch in the back yard. Our quarters backed up to the woods and we watched this squirrel appear at the edge of the woods, look at us and make a beeline across the yards right for us. She ran up Mr. WWM's leg and then his arm, reached her little paw (do they have paws or feet?), pulled open his shirt pocket and looked inside. From then on we knew not to go out into the yard without a treat for Maude. We named her that because she was so brazen!

Isn't Santa wonderful. Imagine being so thoughtful that he brought personalized toys for your babies. Great pictures.
WW what a great video your encounter would have made. I love that story.
I live on the edge of a park and have my regular squirrels coming every day for their treat. There is a little chipmunk that also visits who is about 1/4 the size of the squirrels. When he sees squirrels close to the peanuts, he runs them off yelling and gabbering at them at the top of his lungs. Then he gets a peanut in his mouth and mutters and mumbles about those damn squirrels. At least I am sure that's what he is muttering about. It is hilarious to watch.
Wow, that's a neat story, WWM!
Dorie, I'm glad Santa was so good to your kitties. We have a ton of squirrels here but unfortunately none in my backyard for the boys to enjoy.
One place I lived, there was a screened-in patio with a pool in the back. I was outside one day and saw a squirrel on top of the screen, but they were always up there so I really didn't pay any attention. I turned around to go inside when all of a sudden there was a splash. Mr. Squirrel had somehow fallen through the screen an landed in the pool. The poor thing swam out but was terrified. I opened both doors for him to run out, but it was over an hour before he calmed down enough to figure out how to get out of there.
