Time to start planning New York meet!

(22 posts)
  1. With the holidays mostly behind us, I think now's the time to start planning a New York area meet for March!

My boyfriend and I will be in the New York City area March 5-10, and would love to meet every available TDK'er!

Since we fly in on the 5th and out on the 10th, I'm not scheduling anything on those days. But otherwise, my schedule (and his) is up to me. BTW, we are staying at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Newark, near the airport.

    So who's available, and when?

  3. I'll be there hopefully The 7th or the 8th is good for me as it's week-end!

  4. I'm available most likely all of the days! Well, I guess not all of them. It really depends on work/school, but most of them I'm sure! and I could always move my schedule around if not

  5. The weekend would work best for me, as I may be out of town the 5th and/or 6th. This could change, though; hubby and I are hoping to pop down to Philadelphia for the flower show, but it depends on getting days off. Keep me updated, and I'll try really hard to be available whichever day works for other folks.

  6. My birthday is the 7th, so I would love to do a NYC trip for my birthday and meet more TDKers!

  7. Shall we try for March 7, then?

CW, we could be celebrating our birthdays together! (Mine's the 5th)

  9. March 7th? Great, now that I have a firm? date, I will work with that! I will put in for that day off and I will be there with bells on! Joan, are you still hoping to come? I would love to come to your place then travel in together if that is still doable. Lemme know! :)

  10. March 7th? I think that might work! Deb, you are welcome to come to my place and we can figure a way in from there. I don't drive in the city, but I know we can work that out, either by bus or I have a driver service relative and we could go in style! Oh, my b-day is the 22nd of March. Can I be in on the March b-day celebrations?

  11. Cool beans! We can work out the specifics closer to the date. Bus or driver sounds great to me. I have never been to the city so I will leave that to you ok? Now I am smiling real big and everyone here can just wonder why! :)

I've been looking forward to this ever since Catherine anounced her plans, it's great to see it all coming together!!

  12. Obviously I won't have a car either! So public transportation is fine with me.

I'm very excited about my trip. I already have my tickets for the Empire State building -- but I need to remember to get tickets to the Statue of Liberty!

  13. Catherine, if you go up to the observation deck of the Empire State Building and I go out on my balcony, we could wave to each other (although we might need binoculars) :)

  14. hi folks
just noticed this thread, remember seeing something about it once or twice before. anyhow, can i join in too? i'm a native new yorker, well past 60 years old, but have never been to the top of the empire state building or to the statue of liberty! i know it might sound hard to believe, but that's the truth of the matter. i would love to meet up with all you folks and i think saturday march 7th would work for me. though i'm a bit on the older side than probably all you young uns, i can still walk at a good brisk clip and i have one good ear for hearing! i just hope mother nature cooperates, march can be a blustery month. looking forward to hearing more about the meet up. bobby

  15. Oh I would love to meet up in NYC! I haven't been there in 30 years! I think it would be fun to meet up with the New Yorkers who if they wouldn't mind, show some of us touristas the sights. I have been to both the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Bldg (had a chance to go to the World Trade Center but turned it down as I wanted to save my money what with being on limited budget and on my way to France with a local group of students). I wish I could go but do not think it will fit in my budget right now. :-(

  19. Oh phooey! It turns out that hubby and I are going to be in Philadelphia for the flower show on the 7th. Phooey, rats, booo.

Sorry folks, I thought I was going to be able to squeeze everything in. When did my life get so complicated? (oh yeah, when I met my husband).
