  1. I had back surgery in 1994,I actually broke my back and was lucky to find a very skillful surgeon to fix it so I didn't end up a paraplegic.
Anyway,it hasn't bothered me much until lately it's become more and more painful to the point where now it hurts all the time. I hate taking pain medicine,I hate being slowed down,it's driving me crazy.
If this keeps up I'll have to see a doctor up here about it and I'm not thrilled about that.
I'd just appreciate some positive thoughts and prayers that it eases up and it's not something major.
    Thanks!

  2. Oh, gosh, Buttercup - you definitely have that from me!!

Could you try a Tens Unit? Or a transdermal patch?

  3. Oh no, Marsha, I'm sorry you've been in pain and having to worry about this. Lots of prayers coming your way from me. ((Hugs)).

  4. No, no, no Buttercup. We can not allow this to happen to you. Doubling up on prayers and checking out something which may help with pain. There is something called Arnica or something like that which is supposed to be good for pain. If you aren't familiar with it I will see if I have the correct name and look for info. Also, althought it is a short term fix, I find sitting in a bath of Epsom Salts really takes away the pain. I think I may be telling you things you already know about but hate the thought of you suffering.

  5. Sending healing energy to you Buttercup, we have to beat this somehow.
Petpntr may be meaning Arnica cream, I use it for rheumatoid arthritis pain I get in my knees and Mum has been using it on her foot she broke a bone in with great success. Meegz(daughter) is using it on the swelling she has from a bee sting she got last night. It can stop the pain in my knees within 10 minutes for me. Worth a try.

  6. Back pain is horrible Buttercup, you have my sympathies. I've just got a Tens machine for my shoulder pain, and am finding it pretty effective.

  7. Yes MS that's it but I think it comes in other forms as well, capsule and if I remember correctly you can buy it in raw form and make tea.

  8. I used a Tens machine a couple of times. Once I had a pinched nerve in my back and it did no good whatsoever but for muscle pain it was very effective.

  9. Here is some information about Arnica. I remember that Dr. Andrew Weil also advocates Arnica for pain.

  10. Having had back surgery twice, I know how difficult this can be.
My prayers and well wishes are with you. Please seek out help sooner rather than later; they may be able to help. Please keep us posted.

  12. Arnica does come in different forms. I mainly remember the cream but I also remember taking the tablets when I hurt my foot as a kid. It worked wonders.

  13. Thanks all,I'll ask about the tens unit,I had one before when I had bad headaches. I'll definitely look into arnica cream.
I guess I'll have to see a doc about this,I couldn't get anything done today.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers,i was able to get some relief for a while.

  16. Positive thoughts and healing!!!! I'm not a medical person, and I recommend that you seek that advise first, but I know yoga has helped hubbs so much with both his back and knee, which had "stiffened" up after surgeries. We practice that together, and it's really helped his back "alignment". But don't try anything without your doctors' ok!!! :)

  17. My mom swears that physical therapy did wonders for her back. Different problem, though. You have my prayers, Buttercup

  18. Healing wishes for your back, BC. I know how you must feel; 2 out of 3 orthopedic surgeons reccomend that I have my back surgerized. I would rather spend a weekend on a heating pad taking pain meds (this is that weekend -- a potted plant attacked my back on Friday) than have surgery. My prayers for your quick recovery without surgical intervention.

  19. Oh my Buttercup, of course you have my prayers. Can a massage therapist help? I know how delicate the spine is and I hope this is something that can be fixed without surgery. I have some upper back problems and I know how exhausting pain is. I pray that your discomfort subsides.{{{HUGS}}}

  28. Thanks again for all of your kind words, just reading them makes me feel much better.
I'm hoping that I just overdid and I'm feeling that. I had already decided to get more exercise by biking around and trying to generally strengthen the supportive muscles.
I received PT in '94 and it helped a lot. I will look into seeing a doctor about it but I figure he's going to tell me a few things I already know like the need to lose weight and get more exercise.
    Thanks again everyone,you're the best!
