  1. Just a baby earthquake (by nz standards) but our first USA earthquake :)

  3. 5.0 on the Ricter scale. That's decent! You are a real Californian now, Airy!

  4. That earthquake didn't feel like a baby here -- we were right on top of it!!!

  5. I see they have down graded it to 4.5 now, still a good one though OW. Did the cats do anything odd?

  7. I can't imagine having earthquakes as a normal part of life. Wild.

  8. Everything is okay ... just a few things fell off of shelves and a small crack in the backroom wall. Poor Shiva was so scared she bolted off of the couch when the first loud jolt hit. She disappeared until a few minutes after the earthquake was over. I went outside and Mamma Kitty is okay. She didn't even seem shaken up at all but poor Trinity seemed a little nervous.

I am still shaking though...when that one hit I could tell we were right on top of it. It felt like a bad one.

  9. Sorry OW, here it was much weaker. Scritches for the kitties.
Skirty, I've lived with earthquakes so long I said to J-man I thought it was in the 4 point range and was surprised it was 5.0, then it was downgraded to 4.5 :) I'm my own seismic drum.

  10. Funny thing - my roommate and I were watching a show about explosions, and they had just shown a really bad one when there was a loud noise and our house actually felt like it was lifted up by the earthquake just before the shaking started.

    Talk about timing.

  12. Gosh,I can't imagine living somewhere where earthquakes are common either,I'd rather be scared of the rare but very well reported hurricane anytime. If it's really bad,we can get out.
I'm glad you're OK OW and Airy. [[[Hugs]]]

  14. It might not be long before you tell your grandkids..."Why, I remember the Great Quake of '12,...when everyone in LA surfed to Denver."
    (apologies to Robin Williams)

    Stay safe out there, ow!

  15. I've only lived where there were minor tremors, and those are scarey enough! Take care of yourself OW.

  16. You hang in there OW, just keep your cell phone and keys handy, that's what I do when we've had a quake.
