  1. The local jr college newsletter just came and I have to share with Buttercup, Tigerlilly, The Knitting Ninja and all the TDK nurses. One of the nursing students will be featured on Nurse TV. He has quite a story (tissue may be needed).

    Here's the link:

  3. Massive kudos to him & anybody with the heart & courage to enter
the nursing fields, especially in such a midlife career change!
I don't think I've ever properly addressed all the wonderful LPN's
and RN's we have here. I spent 11 years working in a Long-Term Care
facility in Friday Harbor, WA., 2 of them as an NAC.
Nurse's ROCK! (no pun intended) :)

  4. Nursing was my second degree. I graduated from a BSN program when I was... well, in my 30's!

  5. Don't forget, W&WM, it's you guys that make the doctors look good!
You're the platoon Captains & Lieutennants and they're the 4-star
generals sitting at their desks. (That's a gross oversimplication,
but I'm stretching an example to make a point. No offense intended
    to M.D.s)

  6. Great Story Teresa! I'm in awe of this man's conviction in turning to nursing. You can definitely feel his passion for it when he speaks of feeling like a rock star in the simplest of service as in bringing ice chips to a patient. Definitely his heart is in it. I guess that just goes to show you it's never to late to make a big career choice like this. Thanks for sharing this Teresa. =)

  7. that is a very nice story Teresa, but I do have to tell you that I am not a nurse. I am a medical technologist, I work in the lab and run all the tests on the patients blood and other fluids that are sent to me.

  8. Great story. Not to copy Tigger, but nurses do Rock, and male nurses are a special group indeed. I can honestly say that I loved every male nurse I ever worked with. I think because , infortunately, there is still a bit of stigma there, those gentlemen that go into the nursing profession truly have a calling (hopefully that should be true for all).
Having worked with many nurses and been a patient many more times than I care to remember, a good nurse is the best thing ever. I did have a dreadful nurse after I delivered my 1st son; it reminded me once again what a big difference a great nurse can make.
BTW Tigger, no offense taken! Lol

  9. What a wonderful video Teresa. My husband and I are in the process of switching careers and going into nursing. We are nurse assistants right now and taking pre-requisites for the nursing program. He is so well recieved by his patients and just loves the job. Thank you so much for posting that, I can't wait to show it to him.

  11. Yay KK and hubby, you both rock!
And TKN,we all know and appreciate a good phlebotomist and lab tech. It takes education, passion and skill for all of it.
