Hi SOM! Hubby and I are going to the dentist next Monday, yuk. Just routine stuff but it still makes me gag! The house is coming along, slowly, but we're getting there. Leela is at kitty daycare again today.

Wow, a string! Wow, a laser toy! Leela's 2 favorites! Since she's alone this morning at daycare, I'm sending her thru the wormhole to the cafe for a while. Since she's a baby too, she will probably make fast friends with the agency kittens.

Morning, all who might still be around.
So, dinner last night turned out really nice. When I got on the subway, there was hubby sitting there reading his paper; he got the same train 3 stops before me. He looked up when I got on & smiled at me. I stood a little way up the car & smiled back. Anyone watching us would have thought we were total strangers flirting with each other.
Dinner was awesome; I had braised lamb shank with wild mushroom risotto (and 2 glasses of wine!). When dessert time came I said to the woman sitting across from me, "I'm going to have dessert because it's my birthday and calories don't count". So yay for me for speaking up for myself. I got the cheesecake, which was YUM, and it even came with a candle in it.
And then when we got home, what was waiting for me but a birthday card from Cricketsmama! I was so touched that she took the time to do that, given how crazy her life is right now (thanks, CM).
And thank you all again for the good wishes and e-cards yesterday. For a birthday with a 0 on the end of it, it wasn't half bad.

Kilroy, I am so glad you had a nice evening. It is kind of fun to flirt with your own husband now and again. It is brrrr cold down here today so I am drinking a big faux mocha. (coffee with a pack of hot chocolate mixed in) I am in grant land today so I will be in and out. scritches to all the kitties. Keep warm y'all!

Morning everyone! Crisp day outside today. I have quite a few errands to run today. I have to babysit, I have to run to school and sort something out with an old teacher, I have to go to the post office, I have to go to Home Depot and get a plate that fell off on the bottom of our sink and fix it, I have to grocery shop, and I promised Mike I'd cook homemade macaroni and cheese for dinner so I have to get that started somewhere in the middle of it all. Eeek!

Good afternoon, all!
I tried to sleep in since Bobby was bothering me most of the night, but my friend, dentist's wife, called me and needed to talk, so I didn't get to sleep in. At ten I met with a friend for coffee at Panera and now I'm back home for a while.
I managed to get front desk girl to cover for me tonight so I can go to the tennis tournament meeting tonight. I'm kind of nervous about the meeting. I love the lady who usually is coordinator of transportation and who asked me to help out this year, but the two heads of volunteers and coordinators are a bit strange and not always friendly. I hope they're okay with me taking over the job and I hope the regular transportation coordinator has spoken to them and gotten their okay on this.
I'm counting on working 4:30 to 6:30 and then heading for the meeting. Since the front desk girl will have to be there all dy and evening, I really don't need to go in, but I'm going anyway so I don't miss out on too much pay. -

Ok, I have a minute while someone is on the phone. I made an awesome pie so I had to bring some to the cafe. I made and apple and D'anjou pear pie. I used the pillsbury crust. sliced 3 apples and 2 big pears thin and tossed them in sugar, cinnamon and a little lime juice. Put them in the crust and topped with a crumble topping of: 1/4 cup unsalted butter, 1/2 cup each of flour and brown sugar and a liberal couple of shakes of cinnamon. Drizzled with some warm honey over the top and baked at 350 for an hour. Yummy!

That sounds heavenly, KYK. I almost got an apple tart for dessert last night, so I could share with hubby (he's not big on desserts but loves anything apple) but he said "Get what you want, it's your birthday", so I took him at his word.
I may have to try this recipe, though.

Yay - Kilroy had dessert and announced that it was her birthday!!!! Way to go! MCW will be proud of you.
When I went to the gym this morning it was 20 degrees here with a wind chill of 10 degrees. That's just too cold for us thin blooded West Texans!
I only got four hours of sleep last night. I think I need something stronger than my normal cup of tea.....
