When she came home from the vet after her operation, Molly was so much better. She was eating and drinking, though sleeping a lot. I did that, too, when I got home from the hospital. But day before yesterday, I noticed that she wasn't eating. Vet had sent home Science Diet canned food and she ate some at first. Then, even with broth or tuna enhancement, she wouldn't touch it. She was still drinking water, but not eating. So we went back to the vet today, and he thinks it is her liver, as she's showing some jaundice. Her incision has a little bit of infection, and she's losing weight. He said because her food intake had been affected for so long, she wasn't getting nutrients, and it has taken a toll on her liver. He said he'd keep her for a couple of days and give her antibiotics and force feed her. I asked if she could recuperate from this, and he only said "sometimes they do, sometimes they don't".
I feel so bad because I didn't take her to the vet when she first got sick (because of my own illness). I don't know how much difference it would have made, because she had the blockage in her tummy for so long, but I still feel as though if I had taken her in sooner, she wouldn't be so sick.
Please send some prayers our way. Thank you all--you're wonderful.
