  6. Everything sounds pretty good. I made teriyaki salmon with roasted potato. Hubby also opened a bottle of pink champagne. Now that dinner is over he is leaving for work. It was a nice dinner--complete with fire crackling in the fireplace.

  10. Good evening all. It has been a nice wet couple of days but not enough to help with our water situation. We need a really huge storm or a couple of good storms to fix that issue. This afternoon the property manager showed me the unit on the third floor, and I like it but it has some good and bad things about it.

The good part is it still seems to have the same closet space (just broken up more into two door closets instead of one three door and one two door in the bedroom and two closets out in the hallway), it is on the third floor in the back of the apt complex, and away from the noisy courtyard and front door to building, it looks west and has a bit of city view from the unit so it gets a really nice breeze and as far as I know there are no smokers near the unit. The best part is no one above me to walk about, drop things and wake me up at 1am.

The bad is that there is only one good wall which will make it hard to figure out how to setup the furniture since I currenlty have two walls (tv, computer, printer table and bookcase on one wall and the other wall has the loveseat couch, table, chair and cat condo. There isn't nice faux wood flooring in the front door area or dining area which makes it harder to keep clean. Also, the rent will increase $75 a month with a smaller bedroom and no 1/2 size dishwasher in the kitchen with no open access for Mia to climb up and look down on everything. The bedroom window faces the outside walkway so would have the issue of not being able to leave the window open in the bedroom (would have to work with the property manager about some sort of security device for it) as well as hearing someone walk by from time to time which would mean needing to put up some special type of window covering for privacy. Also, I will need to hire some guys to help move the heavy stuff (couch, bed, TV, etc) which means an extra cost at a time when I just spent $650 on Sylvester's vet bill and am a little short. One last thing is there is a two story hotel so I am sure it will get a little noiser in the summer months with travelers but I did speak with a tenant whose unit faces the hotel and he says it isn't that noisy. So basically the place doesn't flow as nicely as my current place does.

I have till Monday to weigh the pros and cons. I wish I could take my floor plan and move it to the third floor unit on the backside of the complex. If I don't take it, someone else will get it. Hard decision to make as units aren't coming readily available much now that people aren't moving as much. Big sigh.

  11. We have a new arrangement in our household. Since, because of the sucky economy, we don't go out to dinner anymore, Mr. WWM is doing dinner one night a week! I don't have to plan, shop, clean..... only eat!

Tonight he made burgers stuffed with sauteed mushrooms and caramelized onions. He grilled them and then put a slice of provolone cheese on top. They were gargantuan!!! Then he made homemade sweet potato fries with a spicy herb finish. And we had it all watching the Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian. AND..... I managed to stay awake!!!

  12. Sounds delicious, WWM! Maybe in a couple of weeks, Mr. WWM can graduate to 2-3 times a week.

  13. LOL, SMM! Baby steps.....

  14. WWM, that sounds very tasty! At least Mr. WWM knows how to 'cook gourmet' as well as eat gourmet ~ that's a real plus!! Baby steps are good......
We had almost the same thing tonight ~ stuffed burgers (slider sized) with carmelized onions and sharp cheddar cheese, russett (not sweet) potato fries oven baked with a dry spice rub, and a small wilted spinach & bacon salad. Sounds like everyone is eating well this evening ;-)

  15. YAY!!!!!!! Kittymom!!!!!!

Actually, Mr. WWM was up in my quilt room last week and I had that Big Daddy Food Channel show on, and guess what he was making? Yep - stuffed burgers! Although I won't let Mr. WWM watch Everyday Italian, he is more than welcome to get ideas from any other show!
