  2. Hi AV! I'm at work till the cows come home...or the board meeting ends, whichever comes first. Hubby will have leftover cheese ravioli with hearty tomato sauce and parm. garlic bread. Leela will feast on a packet of Whiskas, served with a side of kitten crunchies and fresh water. I'm having a granola bar and some cheese before the meeting starts at 7:30.
If it snows and the boss calls a snow day, I will make something in the crock pot tomorrow. I have potatoes, celery and carrots, but I'm not sure what's in the freezer, meat-wise. Usually I'm well stocked this time of year, but what with the house being in total dissaray, I've just been stopping by the grocery store on the way home more often.

  3. LOL Joan, at least you think ahead! I've got to go to the store Thurs. and shop for enough stuff to last me thru Sunday! (Superbowl is here in my back yard and I WILL NOT go out)! I'm actually spoiled because I have a beautiful Publix & Fresh market that I can walk to , so I tend to shop fresh every day! I love ravioli! I was thinking of getting a machine so I could make my own, but will have to wait until I get my townhome!

  4. I'm such a goumet cook -- NOT ! I'm having a boneless pork chop (pork steak?), and don't know yet what I'll have with it. Whatever I find in the pantry as I KNOW there is nothing fresh in the fridge.. :( Maybe a stop at the store on the way home for something fresh.

  5. Hehe! There's nothing in walking distance from where I live. Ok, there's a convenience-type store about a mile and a half away, but one takes great risk in walking along the streets; dark, no sidewalks, winding roads, etc. Hubby loves to grill so he's going to buy a steak for Sunday (I think it's just us and maybe my brother). I'll marinade it, with what I'm not sure yet. We have stuff called "Butt Rub" that consists of basic spices and it makes a great marinade. He is also going to splurge on a shrimp ring, although I like to make my own cocktail sauce rather than the stuff that comes with it. I have pierogies in the freezer but if I have some time, I may go to a nearby Polish store for some real ones. We'll have either tossed salad or baby carrots with ranch dressing.

  6. Hy

  7. Mr Renee ! I am so wanting some chili... just had my son talk to the ex for his recipe. He may have been a jerk, but he made really good chili! LOL

  8. Homemade chicken pot pies using the leftover chicken that I roasted the other night, plus the root vegetables that I roasted with the chicken. Sauteed mushrooms have been added to the chicken and vegetables. I have made hash brown potato pancakes that are cooked until crispy and those will go in the bottom of the ramekin. (ok, I don't know if that part will work, but hey....). Sherry cream sauce to go over the chicken and vegetable. The ramekins will be topped with puff pastry. Sauteed zucchini, green salad with oranges and avocado and parmesan toasted sourdough bread.

Now, if it just turns out the way I have envisioned it! Otherwise, we are having Subways.

  10. Come to Jersey, JF! It's cold and going to be snowy here too but I've got a nice warm wood-burner, complete with hearth kitty (refer to avatar at left).
I'm rooting for a snow day; travelling down the mountain is downright treacherous.

  11. LOL JF - "man food"...... it really does exist!!!! and super bowl will bring out the best of it!!!! Hopefully (by Sun.) I'll have a kitchen, so I'm making all of Hubb's favorites..... homemade chicken wings w/fresh crumbled blue cheese dressing.... yes the beer/cheese dip in the bread bowl..... baby back ribs slow roasted, and steak kabobs done on the grill.... sides will include southern style baked beans, chipolte pasta salad with ranch dressing and my favorite mixed green salad with fresh cucumber, avacado and cherry tomatoes!!!

    Come Monday, it's GYM time!!!!!

... don't get me wrong.... I work my ##@sss off.... we are partners (equal ones!) in our business, and when times are good we reap the benefits, when times are tough (like this sucka@## economy)... we work ourselves to death!!!

.... back to food - think I'll make his favorite key lime pie for dessert!... Florida seriously has some of the best key lime pies, and I make my own... secret ingredient - instead of graham cracker crust, I used vanilla waffers! Delicious!

Posted 1 year ago by AV #

  18. Oh man, key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts.

Have a great evening everyone - I'm off to a meeting.

  19. Oh, I'm going for whatever in the cupboard needs the least effort to fix tonight, perhaps a can of soup. Just got done clearing snow (with a snow blower thank goodness) from mine and three neighbors' driveways and sidewalks and my bum knee is cranky. And with more snow falling all night, I get to do it again tomorrow! So, whatever is hot, filling, and EASY.

  27. Hmmmm green corn tamales with sliced tomatoes tonight, the tamales are from Trader Joe's and not bad. Then off to watch the Homeland Security show on ABC, supposed to have a big focus on the Tucson Sector this evening. Expecting a hard chill tonight here in the Old Pueblo, so plants, critters and homeless ones out there need to be careful :(
