  1. Hello! I am a newcomer and see that you are all having alot of fun and sharing some Purrrrfect ideas and information. I like that. We have been dogs only people at my house here in Oregon up til about 6 months ago. During one of our frequent backyard BBQ's we were approached by a timid, yet determined young long hair Siamese cat. Shortly after she adopted us. My husband was sneaking her food for the longest time before I realized we were no longer dog exclusive. Just about the time I warmed up to the whole idea...the little vixen presented us with 4 young kittens (about 4/5 weeks old. Well life hasn't been the same around here since. Never a dull moment. This little family came along at a time when I had withdrawn from daily caring and became lethargic to say the least. No more! I romp and roll and giggle non stop for most of the day now. God Bless my new little ones. Right now our Mama is m.i.a and we're praying for her safe return but have our hands and hearts full of these sweet little fuzzbutts meantime.

  12. Karenopa, Welcome.
I you seem mama again - I would strongly suggest you have her spayed.
I don't know how any one can be anything but totally happy and entertained when they have a household of kittens.

  13. Elene...thanks for asking. I felt well enuf today to actually do a load of wash. My energy level has picked up alittle. My man/friend actually got outside yesterday & raked & swept the yard. Who knows what caused this unexpected event. An act of God? Wishful thinking from my friends on TDK? The nicer weather w/out the ground shaking? Maybe all the above. I know it felt good, but,am being careful not to exert too much, too quick. Thanks for the warm welcome for my big sister. Hugs & Kitty Kisses

  15. Hey...thank you all for your warm welcome. It's day 3 with Mama M.I.A. And the kittens are getting pretty cranky. We talked to neighbors and asked them to check their tool sheds and garages for us but so far nothing. It's like she just vanished...boo hoo...I pray she will come strollin' in anytime. She and all four kittens have been spayed and neutered which was a real relief to us. The family..1) Toughy..a gray/black/white tiger stripe,Male..2) Oreo..Black/white mix female.. 3) Shady..very pretty siamese markings with all white feet..short hair male..4)Sugar Foot..my favorite.mostly black with a white teardrop face and of course 4 white feet, female.Whenever I feed them, Sugar Foot always rubs up against me in gratitude before she eats her food. Very sweet. I'm glad that they are all fixed tho because our neighborhood is not full of responsible pet owners and noone who has cats are getting them fixed. Not healthy. What is the yountest age that a kitten can get pregnant anyway?

  16. OH!! Yes PaulaJean...Susie in Ca 8/13 is my little sister. I love her very much...she's my crazy sister and I wish we didn't live in different states. Miss you sis!

  17. Welcome to TDK, Karnopa. I don't know how soon a kitten can get pregnant, but I'm sure others here know the answer to that question and many more. Kudos to you for getting mamma and her kittens fixed. Keep posting!

  18. They can mature as young as 5 mos, but most don't until 7 - 8 mos.

  19. Don't meezers (and meezer mixes) have a reputation for being quite ...um... precocious (I don't know it that is spelled right)? Actually I waited with my first cat until she was 6 months to get her fixed - and it was 1 week too long (she went into heat). So I'm a fan of early spaying.

Posted 4 years ago by NNGM #

  20. Oh Boy...lol...I've never heard the term Meezer before. How funny. Yes they are very precocious (I'm not sure on that spelling eithe) .would somebody please tell us if we're spelling precocious right??? They are also very amorous when they wanna be. A nice way of saying they're horney. We actually had the whole lot of ours in and spay/neutered at about 5 months. Whew!

  21. Nibs and Nora's Mom.... I see you're in Michegan. I was born there....many, many, too many, years ago. How's the weather right now..getting snow yet?

Posted 4 years ago by Karenopa #

  22. Kitten Whisperer...I see you're in Oregon. I'm in Glendale. Been here a year. Came from Michegan to California to Oregon. That's enough relocating for me. Time to put some roots in the ground. Oregon is very beautiful.

  23. I'm logging out now..Thank you for the warm welcome.Hope to talk to you all again soon.

  24. My Runt was pregnant just before she turned 8 months. Her mom is the Snowshoe Siamese(I call her Siameezer),in our back with 4 kittens in tow. She is a bonafide trolop. Runt's sister,Prettygirl's only surviving female came into heat at 5 & a half months old. I've never seen them "bloom" so young. Maybe that's the "amorous" your talking about? lol

  25. Karen, it has been an unusually warm fall so far in Michigan. We had our first heavy frost this morning. There is a chance for some of the white stuff next week, probably more so along the coast where they get lake affect snow. It has been strange - many trees have not even turned color yet, much less dropped their leaves. The winter forecast I heard this morning was for less snow than usual (La Nina effect this year). Yes, Oregon is very beautiful! Glad you are on the list.

  27. Hello Nov. 2....Catlover...thank you for your warm welcome..I've had my 4th cup of java...the battle in the kitchen over the mornings' ham steak is over and I'm happy to report everyone won. tee hee...dogs, cats, mom and dad!! Yummy!!! Today is our big shopping day for the month. Ugh!!! I could use some sound advice as to inexpensive ways to feed the masses healthy but economical meals as this production co. prefers their furs to be healthy, and hoppy! Last month we went through 15 whole chickens and we all ate many a tasty meals...does anyone have any other ideas?

  28. Did I say HOPPY??? Ha! Ha! I guess that works too!!!

Posted 4 years ago by Karenopa #

  29. Welcome, Karen! What fun for sisters to post on the same site! Great way to stay in touch!

Posted 4 years ago by Jo in Blairsville #

  30. Hi, Karen! Female cats can come into heat at only 5 months of age. Early spaying & neutering is definitely the way to go! Kittens usually recover faster, too.
