This mountain lion was caught on tape in a residential area of San Mateo (just south of San Francisco) - only a couple of blocks from where I used to live when I first lived there!

  2. That would really be scarey. Poor thing I feel sorry for it or any animal that gets disoriented and ends up close to a residential area. Thanks Rubia

  3. I do hope if it happens to be caught that they relocate it rather than the alternative.

  4. I agree - I hope they can catch it and relocate it too. When I did the search for the story (I first saw it on TV), it seems that there have been a few mounting lion sightings in the San Mateo area. The city of San Mateo is at the foot of some hills, and those hills do have some pretty wild areas. But it is really surprising to think that that poor mountain lion was in that particular residential neighborhood. It is an area with busy streets and with businesses as well as homes. It is not far from the 101 freeway. The poor thing must have been very far from home.

  5. I heard on the news there have been 4 sitings of moutain lions in the last week in that particular area and they don't know why they are coming so close to the city. I wonder if the 4 sitings are the same lion or if there are more than one.

  6. There have been a number of sitings of cougars in Michigan, even in the Kalamazoo city limits, within the last four years. Our local DNR denies there's a breeding population in the state, even with evidence on camera and on the snow (footprints and spoor). People here think it's a coverup of some kind.

Personally I think they're beautiful, if they aren't harming us we should leave them alone. Unfortunately, some of these cougars are killing cattle and horses.
