  4. Are we going with "three weeks with my Brother" for Aug?.... if so, I will go get that one!......

... I'd like to suggest "the Host" by Stephanie Meyers (of the Twilight series) for one of the months, it was really good......

  5. Thanks, ILMC - I'll get these. (sorry I missed the earlier post) I've re-discovered my love of reading; I owe most of it to the TDK book club. Plus, instead of books in boxes in the attic, they are now in an old bookcase that was up in our attic for 20 years. Hubby fixed it up, painted it and it looks...not too bad. We're not buying many new things; making do with what we have. I just finished "Ghost Rider, the Healing Road" by Neil Peart, the drummer for the band Rush. It's not about the band, but cronicles his travels as he takes to the road after losing his daughter and wife within ten months. That was a long book. Then I read "Morning, Noon and Night" by the late Spaulding Gray. We were lucky enough to see him in a small venue in north Jersey several years ago before he jumped off the Staten Island Ferry. Why, Spaulding? :(
I am now reading "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul" by the late Douglas Adams, best known for "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
    Off to Amazon!

  6. I've not yet gotten my hands on a book chosen for TDK Book Club because of my very small library in a very small town but remain hopeful. Has a book been chosen for Nov. &/or Dec.? It's that time of year for snuggling in a blanket with hot cocoa and a good book! =D

  7. I just ordered the last 2 books - I'm running late. I've decided to read the Harry Potter series; my Mom has them.

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  8. Karenopa, my parents have a small library, but my Dad has discovered that you can order books from other libraries in the state and have them sent to your local library. He does it thru the library website now. You might check to see it Oregon has the same thing :)

  9. Thanks Linda..my library does order books from the other local libraries however the last time I attempted to get one..they didn't tell me it was also on hold for someone else and I had to return it before I was finished with it. I promise I won't give up though. =(

  10. Do we have a book for December? I have totally enjoyed expanding my reading tastes. I usually settle in with a mystery or stick with writers I know I like. Even if we don't do a book for December lets keep this up next year.

Posted 2 years ago by Cat talk rules #

  11. What about Santa Cruise or The Christmas Thief by Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark. They are mysteries with a holiday theme.

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  12. That sounds like a good idea to me, SM. They are good writers and they are usually quick reads (maybe because I can't put them down LOL)

Posted 2 years ago by Cat talk rules #

  13. There is a new one from them due out this month. Dashing Through the Snow, I am looking forward to that!

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  14. I think I've read the Christmas Thief but not Santa Cruise. I will have to check--if I like a book I never mind rereading either. I'll be looking forward to Dashing through the Snow. :D

  15. Will Dashing Through The Snow be the December TDK book? I also saw the Warrior series when I was at the bookstore the other day. I became very interested in them and I definately intend to start reading them. They are also not too long and could be read pretty quickly. I have to cram my funtime reading in between homework and work these days and I at least enjoy reading this thread and learning about the books all of you read. It's like a literary review!

  16. I sent an email to ILMC but she didn't respond. I read Dashing Through the Snow and would be happy to start a talk on the 1st of December. But I actually think we may be on The Hour I First Believed. I'd be happy to pick this up until someone can get ahold of ILMC.

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  17. Thanks SM! I'll keep checking for updates.

Posted 2 years ago by krazikat #

  18. If MC wants to moderate The Hour I First Believed that is what we bumped. If no one has read it I can do Dashing Through the Snow. I don't know how much has been read--it got hectic it seems!

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  19. I have not read either so I guess I'm out for this month...what are we picking for the next one...if we can't get ahold of ILMC let's just pick one and then get a list going again...it is so much cheaper to buy a couple at a time...

hope everyone's Turkey Day is going good...

Posted 2 years ago by Alicia #

  20. I agree Alicia. I would like ideas and I will do the same as ILMC. Please mail suggestions to me--I'm on the card list. How about I go ahead with Dashing Threw the Snow on Dec. 1 and we do The Hour I First Believed on January 1. That will give MC some time to get ready--I am so glad she suggested it. I will take whatever I get withing the next few days and will create a list for the next few months. Alicia Dashing Threw the Snow is a very quick read--it is also a paperback.

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  21. She hasn't been on in 3 months--that is a really long time--I am a bit worried especially since she didn't answer my email.

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  22. SM, it will be too late for me join in on Dashing Through The Snow December 1st, but I read about it on Amazon and it looked great so I will read the bookclub threads. Who is the author of The Hour I First Believed and also will you consider looking into the Warrior books. I haven't read any but I intend to. I read a little of them in the bookstore and they look pretty good. And they are about cats!

Posted 2 years ago by krazikat #

  23. I'll be enjoying the bookclub threads on Dashing Through the Snow as well; I don't have the book. I'm still reading The Hour I First Believed.

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  24. KK I think that should me added too! Wally Lamb wrote The Hour I first Believed. Perhaps I should hold off on Dashing Through the Snow until closer to the end of the month--that might help.

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  25. I am going to read Dashing Through The Snow then, if you are going to have the discussion thread later in December. I will pick up The Hour I First Believed for January. Keep us updated on the Warrior series. Thanks SM!

Posted 2 years ago by krazikat #

  26. I will do the same thing as ILMC until she can take the thread again. I really wish someone had heard from her.

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  27. Thanks SM! I am looking forward to Dashing Through The Snow.

Posted 2 years ago by krazikat #

  28. wanna move my book til Jan and do SM's midmonth? I really like the Wally Lamb book and want to discuss with as many as possible!!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  29. December book talks will be on December 21st--that gives 3 weeks until the discussion.

January 1 book talk The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb

February 1 book talk Wariors Into the Wild by Erin Hunter

Please if anyone has a book they want on the list send it here or to me I am on the card list.

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #
