I've been imagining FondaHonda casually dropping "when I had lunch in California yesterday", into her converstion with co-workers tomorrow! "You what?" "Well yes, I flew out for the day to do lunch with some friends".

Hi, MCW and Paula. I've not been very productive today. My son is here to do his laundry. :-)

KW, as long as YOU are not doing it for him!

My brother actually suggested mailing his home from college, mostly to shock my mother speechless, but half hoping she would agree!

I don't blame you for being tired of doing laundry. Not a fun chore!
PJ: No, I don't do the laundry for him.

Hi Paula! I've had a reasonably constructive day, including bathing Mum and hoovering the equivalent of a small kitten from our downstairs carpets!

She's not too bad thanks KW, beginning to look forward to her 10 days in respite care, but still very daunted about The Future.

When do you leave for Egypt? I believe you said you had been there before. Do you tour when you are there or just relax. I've been watching the reveal of the Tut mummy. I can't spell Tutankamun. Would like to see that, got to see the collection in Seattle, OR, years ago.

MerD: I clicked on your screen name and went to your business website. Is you photo included somewhere--maybe in the group photo of "our team?"

A week on Tuesday Paula, seems like ages yet, but quite a lot to do beforehand! - at least I don't have to worry about work.

Is your, ah, "system" pretty much back to normal, enough to handle turisty type food?

..and to answer the rest of your post (sorry!), yes, we have been before, and did a day trip to Cairo to see the sights. We do uusalyy do a few trips, but the emphasis is heavily on relaxation this time around - that said, we're staying further up the red sea coast, very close to the Israeli border, so may do a trip to Eilat and or/Dead Sea depending on cost/timing etc. Me, I just want sunshine, pool and book(s)!
