A Note On Rocky Finding A Home.......scarver 02/19/02

(167 posts)
  1. As most of you know Rocky is in need of a furever home. So far there has been 3 different TDK members given me hope that he very well may have found a home with them. Unfortunately, none of them worked out. Each of them for justifiable reasons that I perfectly understand. There seems to be several of you that are sincerely concerned about Rocky finding a home and I just want to thank all of you. I appreciate so much all of the help, concern and best wishes from all of you.
Now, as far as Rocky goes, I'm really starting to get discouraged about him finding a home. I suppose Rebekah and I should have never taken him in knowing we could not keep him. But, he was sick and hungry. Once he got well and got his belly full, he wouldn't go away. He would hang outside our living room window staring in at us looking as if he wanted so bad to come inside and be loved and part of our family. So what do you do? I was praying a TDK member would/could take him in, because that way I would feel almost certain that he would be going to a loving home. However, I really feel now that I need to put some fliers out and about, just expand my search fields in finding him a home. As some of you know, it is not easy finding a home for a cat this way. "Most" people prefer to go to shelters, humane societies, SPCA, and anywhere else that have multiple cats to choose from, so they can pick the prettiest one or the kitty can pick them. So Rocky's chances of finding a home is limited because he is just "one" cat that someone would have to pick from. This is why I'm starting to get discouraged. But, we'll see what happens. I will have some new pictures of Rocky "playing" next week. He wants so bad to play with our boys, but their still not ready for that. I am sooo happy Rocky finally learned to play and not be scared of toys.

  2. If you cannot find anyone to take him, I will. Scarver, I have spent a lot of time thinking about Rocky because he's the spitting image of Huddy, but with a tail and a bit smaller. You say he's so sweet and he seems to be a very good kitty. Even if I have to get on a Greyhound with my kitty carrier to come and get him I will. Just let me know. I couldn't stand it if nobody took this sweet beautiful boy. I WOULD make him an indoors only cat, and I don't know if you have an issue with that, so I'm putting that upfront. I live in the city, next to a busy freeway and can't take a chance of anything happening to one of my kittenfriends. Just thought I'd let you know.

  3. Don't give hope Scarver!!! Thanks to you, Rocky is now a happy and healthy boy!!! And that alone increases his odds of finding a forever home. I know it has been hard on you having one more in the brood, but if you can just hang in there a little longer, I'm sure we will find just the right home for this handsome, sweet boy!!!
Come on TDKers...thats send some of those good vibes and prayers over to Scarver and Rocky!!!

  5. It's so strange 2B, because I was thinking about him last night. And today I see this note.

  6. I so hope this will work out for you HM. You probably have been feeling a gap huh, and now is the time to fill it. (Has it been over a year now?) Surely we can work out a mode of transport like that truck driver route? Good for you, your boys, Rocky, and Scarver! And Sebastian is smiling down, keeping his paws crossed.

  7. Awwwwww...You were thinking about Rocky!!! I must admit ever since I saw the first picture of him, I have been in love!! Unfortantly, I can't take him right now or believe me I would. How far are you from scarver??

  8. You know, I could help transport Rocky to you, HM. I could get him to Austin or thereabouts if someone else could take him from then on.

  9. Oh HM! You are such a sweetie! It would be wonderful if we could get this to workout!

  10. and Catherine too!

  11. PJ you are SO right - I really got used to having 3, and now with just 2, it really feels like something, or someone is missing. I thought long and hard about it, and by hook or by crook, if I can get Rocky I will. (It's been just over a year - what a good memory you have)

2B I'm pretty far from Scarver, she's in the Dallas area as far as I know and I'm in Houston. They're far away from each other - lol. But like I said, if it takes getting on a Greyhound I will. Rocky needs a forever home, and maybe all this time nobody has taken him because he's supposed to be with me. *shrugs*

  12. You'd do that for me Catherine? You're a sweetie.

  13. I am praying this works out!!!

    Posted 1 year ago by 2bpurring #

  14. Sure, I would do that, HM. I was one of the three others who wanted to give him a home, but it just wasn't feasible. Helping Rocky get to his forever home would be the next best thing.

  15. I hope so, too! I feel so bad about backing out. But how good would that be for Rocky--I mean living with HM? Bacon, bacon, bacon. And love, love, love.

  19. I was just catching up on this thread, you know you are all just so wonderful! I'm getting teary thinking of poor Rocky, who definetly had a "rocky" start, going home forever with HM! I couldn't have hand picked a better meowmy than her. {{{{{{hugs}}}}}} to all of you, angels without fur!

  20. Read HM's comment about being pretty far from scarver, with one in Dallas and the other in Houston. Thought crossed my mind, "What does she mean, they're far apart? They're in the same state." Then I remembered the trip we took to the west coast when I was 11, and it took us 4 days to drive across Texas....

  21. Yes Texas is a very big state~!!! But I'm sure that we can figure something out!! Thank you so much Catherine for your offer!! Yes Rocky will be a lucky little boy to have HM for a meowmy!!!!

This is the most AWESOME group in the world!!!

  22. Texas is huge! I once drove from Corpus Christi to the Dallas area in one day, but I think it took me 8 hours.

    Posted 1 year ago by Cats4Cats #

  23. And you were probably speeding - lol

Posted 1 year ago by HuddysMama #

  24. Huddys Mama I don't know how to say Thank You!!!!!!!! You are such wonderful soul!!! When Scarver returns she is going to be soooooooooo Happy!!!!!!

    Posted 1 year ago by 2bpurring #

  25. Probably.

    Posted 1 year ago by Cats4Cats #

  26. OK, I can't do it this weekend (my boyfriend's daughter turns 13), but next weekend's looking good.

  27. I've never driven across Texas, but Georgia is also one of those "never-ending" states for me. And ask any parent from downstate Michigan whose child has attended Michigan Tech (in the U.P.) and they will sympathize. (It took you 16 hours to drive up there?????!!!)

  28. Driving the length of California takes a very long time, but I think Texas has all the states beat!!!

    Posted 1 year ago by 2bpurring #

  29. Has anyone ever driven from one end of California to the other? I wonder how long that takes?

2bp, you answered my question before I asked it :-)

  30. I drove from San Diego to Eureka once and it took about 12 hours. I don't know if that's from one end of CA to the other, but it's gotta be pretty close.
