  1. So Bobby met my friend Ellen today. Ellen had graciously offered to stop by every day during the tournament and give Bobby his pill. I was a bit worried how it would go as he's not that used to strangers. Other than me, the only humans he's ever really been around are Old Boss and XBF. And he met our Buttercup, too, once!
It went great!!! Bobby loved Ellen and was on his very best behavior for her. He got lots of scritches, too! He was a good boy and let me show her how to give him his pill and she says she thinks it'll be easy enough. Yay!

Milo was scared! Unlike Bobby, he's never really been around other people and he was crouching and hiding and unhappy :(
Ellen was worried at first that she may give the wrong cat the pill, but after the meeting today, there's no way she'd be able to get close enough to Mi to give him a pill!

So I feel much better now, knowing that he'll be taken care of. I told her to leave me a note every day to let me know what time she gave him the pill (told her any time between 11 and 2:00) so I can give him the next one accordingly.

  2. YEA!

  3. Yay, indeed! Bobby was rolling around for belly rubs from Ellen and everything. I think he even made her feel better after losing her tennis match today :)

  4. Way to go Bobby! You were showing off! And getting belly rubs in the process!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  5. Alright Bobby! You know how to get those belly rubs just like Sylvester does. When a kitty lays down and wants you to pet it's belly all resistance is futile.

  6. It was funny how friendly he was. He's a laid back kitty, but he usually gets a bit alarmed when someone comes over - it's a very small space and there aren't a lot of placces to hide.
There was a lot of sniffing going on as Ellen has both a cat ad a dog at home.

  7. Aww that's great GD,Bobby was a real sweet heart to me.

  8. Good boy, Bobby. Milo will get use to Ellen eventually, especially if treats show up at the same time she does.

  9. Well, of course Bobby was fine...is he not the perfect child?
    GD, enjoy your tournament.

  10. He's such a sweet, friendly little guy. ((Bobby))

  11. He is! He's my sweet boy! And he really liked Marsha, too, when she visited!

I tried treats today, CBM, but he was too alarmed to come and eat them. It makes me a bit sad that he's so scared - he's never had a reason to be - at least not since I got him at 7 weeks. I hope he will indeed warm up to her - he's a loving boy, too, when he's not scared.

Thanks, TL! I'm stressed out already and the tournament didn't really even start!!! I don't have enough drivers for tomorrow morning and now I can't find someone to play a match for my team tomorrow and will probably have to forfeit a match :(

  12. I spoke to Ellen and she said Bobby was a very sweet boy today- but he DID spit the pill at her SIX times! She was sure I would have laughed if I had been a fly on the wall!
I apologized profusely and she said it was just fine and I told her that he's done that plenty of times with me. He did get lots of pets and belly rubs, though. Mi hid :(

  13. No, no, no! Don't think that way! Think positive! Wish I were there, I sure would be glad to help you! I am stuck here inside my house all weekend with snow up to my you know what! I would do whatever you needed, I am pretty handy and helpful! I would even luv on Bobby if he needed it! Good luck, I will put in an extra prayer for you tonite! :D

  14. Thanks, Molly! I'm lucky Ellen loves animals, too, and is willing to help me with this. She even told me to give her a call if I need her over the weekend eventhough I was only going to use her for weekdays.
She clearly likes Bobby, so thats's great, too. She hasn't gotten close enough to get to know Milo.
We both had a laugh over how Bobby always spits the pill up on the white part of his chest where it's hard to find :)

Sorry about the snow! Stay warm!

  15. GD, don't worry about Mi being so shy ~ It just takes a while for our furrkids to get used to strangers... My kids are used to adult "strangers", not overly friendly at first but just OK; however, when a friend of mine brought her toddler with her for a visit, BOTH of the kids went nuts! Hissing and growling like mad~ we finally figured out that it was the FIRST time they had ever seen a young CHILD! They are fine with adults, but couldn't figure out what this "small" person who wanted to pet them was all about :-) (They were both 8 years old when they had their first 'toddler encounter')

  16. That's funny, Kittymom :)
Bobby was around my old roommate's 8 year-old when he fime to live with me, but I moved out about 4 weeks after I got him, so it wasn't long.

I sent Ellen an email this morning to please go give Bobby his pill again around noon today and she replied that she will. She goes garage saling every Saturday morning with her daughter, so she'll stop in afterwards. Bobby will probably get to meet her 13 year old daughter who always goes with her! I'm sure Milo will be hiding under the bed again!
I wonder if he's going to get used to her over the next week or not?

  17. Awww, sweet Bobby! You are lucky to have someone who really cares and is responsible :)

  18. I really am! I hadn't really thought about having to figure something out with Bobby during the tournament so one day I mentioned to Ellen that I had to drive 30 min. each way sometime during the day to go home and give him his medicine and just like that she offered to do it. It's a big help!
I'm going to have to think of something I can do for her or a present or something I can get her for helping out like this.

  19. {{Ellen}} thanks for taking such good care of our Bobster!! GD, enjoy your tournament. Great weather for it~~

Posted 2 years ago by SammyandOliversmama #

  20. The weather is awesome! :)
I'm going to see if I can get a picture of Ellen and Bobby toghether.

I thought this morning that I'm going to let her keep the key I gave her and this way if I ever have an issue of any kind and can't get there to give him his pill, she can do it.
This also means I'm ready for another TDK meet now that I won't have to board the babies!!!!! :)

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  21. Yay! You definitely need to get their pix together and frame it and give it to Ellen! We all love Ellen! I am sure you and Bobby will come up with the purrfect treat for Ellen for being such a big help. Poor Mi, he's like my girls when strangers come around. Sure are skitish! :( Enjoy your weather, will think of you as we shovel our nine inches of snow.

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  22. Ooooh, that's a nice idea, Molly! I'll take a picture and get it framed for her. Yay!
I even left treats for her to give the boys. Mi loves treats, but the other day when both of us were there and I brought them out, he stayed under the ottoman. Maybe if she keeps trying......

  23. Yay, Bobby has TWO new friends now! Just got a call from Ellen who told me she brought her daughter over about half an hour ago to give Bobby his pill. Bobby liked her daughter, too! Yay!
Mi didn't like any of them and hid in the litterbox in the bath tub! Ellen's daughter tried coaxing him out, but he refused.

Bobby was nuts this morning, zooming around starting at 5:30 so I'm relieved he behaved himself for them. He swallowed the pill on the first try today! My good boy :)

  24. Bobby is doing very well and loves his Auntie Ellen! She hs no problems anymore giving him the pill. Mi is still scared of her and runs and hides when she comes by. It's been 5 days in a row now, so I guess he's not going to get used to her afterall :(
He scared me the other night. I got home around midnight and as usual, he went out the door to chew on some grass. He never goes more than 2 feet from the door, sits where the grass begins and eats a bit. Well, the other day, someone walked by while he was there and scared him and he took off. It was dark and I couldn't see and I was trying to make sure Bobby would stay inside, too. I walked around and called for Mi and was freaking out since he's never really been outside before and he's scared of it. I finally heard his bell and found him crouched around the corner of the house. Poor little guy was terrified and making weird growling-crying noises when he saw me.
I was able to pick him up and take him back in, and since then he hasn't gone anywhere near the door!

  25. Bobby is a good boy if he is now calling her Auntie Ellen! Poor Mi! He is FREAKED OUT by the new lady! Keep an eye on him, we have had too many kitties go missing this weekend! How is the tourney GD?

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  26. Oh poor little Milo! His routine is all disrupted and then he got really scared! Gentle scritches to the little guy. And my what a big brave boy Bobby is! It's great that you have someone he likes! How's the tournament going (if you know after one day)?

Posted 2 years ago by linda #

  27. The tournament is great. Today was the first day of regular play. We had qualifying during the weekend. I heard the qualifying rounds were really good but have not had a chance to go out to watch any tennis at all, it's been so busy.
The guy who is my co-coordinator was supposed to finally come help today after I was on my own Thursday - Sunday. He'd said he would be in on Monday morning but called me around 10 or 11 and asked when I was going to work. I told him I had to leave at 4:00 and he told me then he'd be in at 3:30. Arrrrrgh! Being there alone, I can't even go on a lunch break. Going to the bathroom is even difficult! The bosses were mad and wanted to fire him but ended up giving him another chance since he has some personal problems, I guess.

I've gotten way too little sleep - two days of 4 hours and last night I was lucky enough to get almost 6. Next year I'm thinking of getting WWM who only needs 3-4 hours of sleep to come help out ;-)

Ellen is raving about how good Bobby is. SHe says she's no longer worried she'll give Mi the pill instead of Bobby, because she knows Bobby is the one that stays and wants pets and Mi is the one who runs away immidiately. He sure did scare me that night, taking off like that. I'm glad he's got a bell on his collar so I heard him, because it was so dark I didn't even know what way he'd run.

  28. Molly, who went missing over the weekend?

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  29. Another little guy named Rocky but finally came back after being MIA overnight in a rainstorm!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  30. Hi GD! Sounds like your tourney is in full swing! As far as I know, Spike still isn't home :( .... I'm sure KK is still worried sick! A few others escaped for a bit, but I think all have returned (hope so!) Cuddles got out once a long time ago when Buc was still alive. She was gone three days..... worried us to death because she'd never been outside..... the kids and I would go out several times each day and night and call for her.... finally on the third day, my neighborhood called me and said "your white cat is living on my porch - everytime she tries to go home, your big black cat (Buc) chases her out of the yard, and won't let her come back in". So we went to the neighbor's back yard and heard this small "meowing" coming from behind an old antique bathtub she had in the back yard. There was Cuddles, dirty and scared, and really glad to see us! We had no idea Buc was keeping her away!
