  1. I'll keep my fingers crossed too.

  2. thnks so much all! i sure will keep u updated. i have to admit, im not so thrilled to be going back into the workplace, and was hoping that my art career would carry me through, but that's going to need backing, and sometimes we all have to face challenges...besides, a tourguide isn't so bad! in some ways it sounds fun, and disability just doesn't pay the bills these days.

  3. I don't know - the Amish museum could be very interesting. Many of my artist friends go back and forth in the standard work world to bridge until a more prosperous art period appears. What media do you work in?

  9. I can't believe they haven't even had the courtesy to call you!!! I would call THEM!

  10. I agree, give them a call and ask!

    Posted 3 years ago by 2bpurring #

  11. Agree with the ladies above, in this economy you have a right to know! GIVE EM A CALL! You deserve that respect! and the job!

  12. they told me speciifically that they would call back. they said they had alot of others who were compteing for thepost. i'm not sure if i should. i know it's typical to call back after u have an interview, it shows you're interested. but it almsot seemed like they hinted that this would not be a good idea. not sure...

  13. I would still call. I hire people and to me that just shows that you care and gives me a little reminder in my head of the person and makes a good impression. I always say I will call back too, but really don't mind if someone gets to it before I call them (which I ALWAYS do, one way or the other).

  14. Patti, what have you got to lose? Maybe they had your number down wrong...but even if you haven't got the job, at least you'll know, and ringing them won't make any difference. Go on my friend, be brave! Phone!

Posted 3 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  15. yea, good point.....ill have to find the number again and give em a ring anyway...

  16. When I had a lot of interviewees for a position, I would create a short list. Then I would wait several days and see who called to check the status of the job. That gave me an idea of who was going to be an employee with initiative. Self motivated people tend to follow through.

  17. they told me politely that they had already filled the position, but they thanked me for my interest and enthusiasm. back to the drawing board.

im almsot at the point where im ready to pay yahoo or some other cheap domain site, get my own full domain, and build my own site...then try to hawk my art work more seriously. if no one else will give me a job, then maybe i have to make myself my own employer.

Posted 3 years ago by Nirmal #

  18. Nirmal, sorry you didn't get the job. But at least you now know and won't constantly be wondering. Don't feel bad about having to "hawk" your art work more seriously. Tough times call for tough choices. So sorry things aren't better right now. What type of art do you do? Do you have any pix of your work you could post on here for us to see? I would be interested in seeing some if you would be willing to share. Thank you and I will say a prayer for you tonite that something works out for you. Betty is here meowing her head off, she must be sending you a message too!

  20. Hey Nirmal,
Have you tried Etsy.com? It is a site to sell artwork, everything handmade, and it is very reasonable to open your own store front on the site. It is equally very reasonable when you sell something from there. They charge a whole lot less than ebay! Go check it out. At least it's a start for your artwork and you don't have to build a site from scratch.......

  21. never heard of it! thnks for telling me! also, i got a letter officially telling me i was ditched. first time i ever got a nice note tho.

  22. hang in there Nirmal...

  23. well....the job hunt has now taken a chnage of course...at least temporarily. i found t flyer at the college, asking for people interested in doing a samll film. they should send their resumes. so i did. mum is willing to take me there before her class and pick me after. i know the theatre they are holding the auditons at. who knows...:) i've ben planning to put together a website to sell my art, and go with evryone's suggestions here, but time and money have been lacking. maybe things will look up. i've also done some soul searching and coming to terms with myself lately. all about the trying to accept and deal with things i don't always like or want, just like the serenity prayer.
