Tuesday, the 24th is Fat Tuesday, the last big hurrah before Ash Wednesday. Does anyone have any big plans? Any family traditions that they keep?

Well, truthfully in Midland Fat Tuesday is just another... fat Tuesday. But it sure would be fun to be at Mardi Gras!

All Tuesdays are fat for me too! LOL Would love to be at Mardi Gras though I was in New Orleans once and it wasn't during Mardi Gras and that was crazy! Would hate to see it tomorrow!

I've been to Naw'lins and love the city! Wouldn't want to be there in Mardi Gras, though--too wild for this old lady! I did get some red beads though--and didn't have to flash anything to get them! They were given to me by a guy in the craft market who claimed to be a real voodoo priest! Don't know if he was or not, but we had an interesting talk! And the fooooood! Ah, coffee and bengnets!

Yea!!! It's a Mardi Gras party at the skating rink!! All the kits are invited, costumes and beads are perfectly acceptable (but optional, of course!) I think the rink will have Mardi Gras floats in the afternoon for the kits to ride on, special kitty food and drinks ~ 'nip candy, salmon, 'nip sodas, etc. etc. ~ whatever we can think of ;-)
Wow, and don't forget on Thursday we have a kitty shower for HM and Rocky!!
It's party week on TDK ~ and a great way for everyone to forget their troubles and just have FUN!!!! -

Betty and Wilma want to dress up! They like to take my pony tail holders so they can wear them on their paws. Don't forget CHEESE, my girls love cheese! Lots of parties in TDK this week, just what everyone needs! I think there should definitely be catnip all around for the kits! It is after a PARTY! The kits don't need to take anything off to get beads, tho!

I visited New Orleans in 1979 and it should have been Mardi Gras but the police were on strike and Mardi Gras was cancelled. I loved the city though. Breakfast at Brennans. Beignets. Streetcar named Desire -- yes, I did ride it.It was a beautiful city. I was sad to miss Mardi Gras and at that time, being alone in a city where noone knew me, I just might have flashed to get beads. Now, I could flash but I wouldn't get beads -- there's not much to flash and what there is sags. I couldn't get used to the chickory in the coffee though. But everything else I ate was wonderful. I missed hearing Jazz because it was my last night and I had walked all over and was so exhausted, I just couldn't move off that bed to go listen to Jazz. Sigh! But since I'm now in KC, I've heard Jazz, just not New Orleans style or more properly N'orleans.

Duh! I forgot, I always plan to eat pancakes on Fat Tuesday. That's the tradition. The boy scout troop at a local church serves pancakes and sausages -- all you can eat all day long on that day for $5.00. If I time it right, I can get 2 plates and it will hold me for the entire day. I may have a little something in the morning but it's amazing what 6 pancakes and 4 sausages will do for you. Oink, oink. It wouldn't be Fat Tuesday without pancakes.

Around here IHOP was doing free pancakes this morning. I drove by and it was packed! I'm not going to wait in line for a short stack, even if it is free. I'm trying to decide what to give up for Lent. It may be *big breath* coffee. I've been ordered to cut down on my caffeine anyway.
