This is wrong on so many levels.

Man ticketed after getting hit by car while helping 2 elderly women cross street
(15 posts)-
This happened in my neck of the woods - last we heard on the local news is that the ticket was going to be dismissed, but I haven't heard anything since, and don't know for sure that it was. It is wrong for him to have been ticketed - when we first heard about it, the driver of the vehicle that hit him wasn't ticketed, so I am glad to see that he finally was ticketed. We have a lot of hit and runs in the Denver area and it gets pretty scary. A few years ago one of my oldest sons friends was killed by a hit and run driver - who is still out there driving and probably hitting others, as well.

It is really scary to be walking some of the streets because of the drivers - we have alot of people who don't have insurance driving, and drinking and driving problems and just plain idiots driving here. And of course the "authorities" take such a long time to do anything about it, so more people are getting injured or killed.

Given that is is illegal to pass a passenger bus when it is stopped to unload passengers, I hope busdriver takes the driver of the pick-up to civil court and sues him for all he is worth!
On Friday a school crossing guard was struck and killed in Louisville. She had just come on duty and didn't have her vest on. She saw a child about to step into the street in fron of oncoming traffic and instinctively dashed into the street to prevent the child from getting his and was struck herself. Sad situation as the driver of the truck that hit her never saw her and it was early enough that the flashing lights for the school zone weren't even on yet. Porr child to have witnessed such a thing and to grow up knowing that this lady died to protect her and poor driver who never saw her bacause she didn't have her vest on.

Back to the busdriver that was ticketed after getting hit. You know that if he had let the passengers cross the street on their own and they got hit, he would have probably been charged or fired for not escorting them.

We also had a recent accident here where a young woman hit a man who was jaywalking and as she stopped to help him he got hit by a semi - unfortunately the man was decapitated in front of her - and the semi just kept going!! I have some family members who drive semi's - I honestly don't know how you can't know you hit someone - unless you are so drunk you can't see straight - in which case you shouldn't be driving. Some of the drunk driving accidents only reinforce my reason for drinking at home - when I drink - so I don't need to go home!

Actually probably not - but the person who hit them might have gotten different charges - and the bus driver probably would have seen it in his rear view mirror - but the bus driver would never forget what he saw.

The ticket has been dismissed. The only person who remains charged with anything is the driver of the vehicle who hit the pedestrian.
