  3. One cup of Earl Grey brewing as we speak.

  4. Oh, Deb. {{{Deb}}} I think it's chatting to you and MS rather than the tea that's cheering me up. Though the tea always helps too...

  5. Tee hee, Auckland's famous! I must say, they are rather lucky having two harbours, one on each side. I do think Wellington's harbour is prettier though (she said, loyally...)

  6. Slurrrrrrrrrrrpp, Oh that's good.
Jcat you are a bad influence on me, what on earth am I doing drinking tea at 12.30am.
    BUT . . it's good.
You are right, it's the chatting that cheers us up. .
    but the tea helps.
Are you able to get yourself a cup of tea too Deb?

  7. Love the satellite pics...Tucson has almost a million people now.....AZ has maybe 4 million now for the whole state....

jcat, it cheers me up also to see you and MS on the NS...tea and toast would be an added attraction...

Posted 1 year ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  8. Yep I have some Stash Orange/Black blend tea here @ work and keep Splenda here for the sugar....no toaster though for the toast...

  9. Sorry, MS, I guess you won't sleep now. Oops...

Oh heavens, don't get me started on the munchies, Deb, my trousers don't want to do up as it is... ;-)

  10. I think ours it pretty good too Jcat, it has an extinct volcano standing guard on the entrance.
That picture of Auckland(Jafaland) is great, I can see where Mr MS has worked on jobs and where Meegz new man is working too.

  11. How is that coming along with Meegz and the new man?

Posted 1 year ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  12. Oh, yours is beautiful. The Mount is lovely. We used to go up there for holidays when I was a kid, to escape the Wellington weather. Napier, Hastings, Taupo and Tauranga were our January road trip...

Yes, MS, is the new man proving satisfactory?

Posted 1 year ago by jcat #

  13. The Mount is quite different now with multi story apartment blocks lining the Ocean beach and harbour side of the peninsula now. Quite a different feel to the place but times do change and if you don't move with them you get run over. Walking around the Mount is still very popular, over 100,000 people walked around or up it in January.
Meegz and the new man are going very nicely Deb, he's so different to the last one. A breath of fresh air by comparison with a younger outlook on things. He works in Auckland but lives back here and Meegz place is halfway between. We get to see more of Meegz now and they often pop in for Sunday morning bacon and eggs or Saturday night dinner, whichever one they aren't having with his grandparents. Cheap weekend for them.

  14. So nice to hear hat Meegz has a decent young man now :)

The Mount still sounds interesting even with the building boom taking place.

  15. It is, it's good to know there are still some of them out there, and a bonus that you get to see her more often!

I guess I'm not surprised about the Mount changing so much -- haven't you had the biggest population growth in NZ over the last few years? It's all that good weather and the sea, I guess, but I hanker for the days when beaches were just sand and water and not so many people... sigh... you can tell I'm getting middle-aged...

  16. It's a long narrow peninsula Deb with a narrow entrance into a fantastic harbour. The volcano guards the entrance.

  17. Loved when I go your postcard with the beach on it :)

  18. Eek, I can see pix of some of those skyscraper thingies...!

But then, as one of my contemporaries once remarked, I can remember when the tallest building in Wellington was the DIC -- which is an Edwardian building, Deb, about seven stories high! And we were teenagers before that changed!

Gee, I sound about 190. Older than dirt, as WWM would say...

  19. Jcat, there are still some areas that are like that although you may have to watch out(or not) for wandering naturists. Once the summer school holidays are over the beach is a lot less crowded. You can now walk across the road from the beach and onto cafes and bistros. The natural hot water pools are still there as is the camping ground at the foot of the Mount. The harbour side(Pilot Bay) beach is still pretty much like it has always been, a great safe beach for families with wee kiddies although the houses facing the beach are now all 2 storey condos.

  20. LMAO, I like dirt.

    Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  21. That sounds nice, MS, I'm glad there's still some uncrowded areas left, and that beach sounds very nice. I think I could cope with two-storey condos... And there is definitely something to be said for cafes and bistros... :-) I am definitely a convert to those. Ohhhhhhhh, hot pools..... I'd forgotten how much I loved those... they were a great part of our family holidays. Nothing nicer than being in a natural hot pool, surrounded by bush, out under the stars at night...

  22. Piccy of the DIC building: http://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/ObjectDetails.aspx?oid=118797&coltype=Photography&regno=C.002698 I was wrong, it's eight stories, tee hee.

  25. Good morning CM, has it snowed at your place? I certainly hope you don't have to shovel your driveway out.

    Posted 1 year ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  26. Morning CM :)

We used to go to the hot pools in Palm Springs/Desert Hot springs in California when I was younger, always loved them.

Posted 1 year ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  27. Morning, CM, I hope you don't have to go outside at all, looking at the pictures from your part of the world!

Hot pools are just magic, aren't they, Deb? I could do with some kind of a hot tub at home for these cold winters...

Posted 1 year ago by jcat #
