Maxie and I send comforting thoughts and prayers to you and your family. The loss of a pet is devastating, but the pain eventually lessens. I'm sitting here crying, though, because the loss of my Molly was so recent and I know what you're feeling.
God bless.

Here is my virtual shoulder to lean on and cry on. He did come home, just not the way we wanted him to. At least you know where he is and he is frolicking with all of our friends at the bridge.

Dear KK I am so sorry to hear you news about Spike. I feel for you. When Polly died I wrote this poem for myself, I wasn't going to share it with anyone, because I'm not very good at that sort of thing. But here it is just for you
Dreams – a poem for Polly
When I left you, you seemed to be sleeping,
Curled on the soft blue blanket they had brought for you.
So quiet, so still, the deepest sleep there is.
You looked serene and beautiful again.“To sleep, perchance to dream” the poet said.
Are you dreaming now? Do you somehow feel
The soft lap and gentle hands you left behind?
Do you miss the warmth of my love?I dream too.
I dream of something stalking through my life
Like a sphinx of soft black satin.
A friendly shade, that haunts my sleep forever.
Warm black velvet; demanding, loving, soothing. You will not be the last, there will be others
Who come to fill the space you left behind.
They too will sleep and dream their little dreams
Of little triumphs, little pains and joys. But you will always be there in my heart,
Chasing through my mind, while I lie sleeping.
A phantom strokes my night-time thoughts so gently
With soft black velvet touch, and warmth, and love. Will you dream of me too?

PM, that brought tears to my eyes, along with the tears for poor Spike. KK, we all grieve with you, but it is far better that you found him, to know that he is not suffering.
