Morning Peeps! The kitties are fluffed for petting, all the food is spread on the buffet, c'mon in and help yourselves. It is a pretty cold day (35 in Ormond Beach FL). I guess everyone is sleeping in! There is plenty of hot tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juices and vittles! How's everyone's day so far?

Morning SOM, thanks for opening the cafe. I need a warm beverage. I think I am going for tea today. TGIW, one day closer to the weekend. I am going to my in-laws 50th anniversry party this weekend. So incredible! We bought them a VERY special bottle of champagne to do their toast and we did a coin set with a gold special issue of a 50th anniversary coin and silver half dollars from the years the boys were born.
Have a good day everyone!

Wow, it's starting out nearly as warm in Kansas City today, as in Ormond Beach, FL?!? Supposed to turn pretty nice this week, too... nearly 70 F!
Things are going okay here; I've got a busy day of job applications lined up. Wish me luck!

Ann, I am sending you all sorts of good job hunting vibes! Morning Katt! It is supposed to be near 70 this weekend in Kentucky. I am soooo ready for spring. I love when it warms up enough to turn off the furnace and have the windows open.

Online is a good way to go, but I'm not looking only online. I finally managed to make the USPS site work; on Monday night, it had a dead-ending glitch. I got so frustrated I gave up for the night; finally got it to work this morning.
(A couple bits of poor design on the personal profile part of the site don't exactly help. But at least now it's working properly.)

Morning all! A lovely 70 here today! Babysitting workmen in the house today! Hubbs decided to have the hall & stairwell scraped & painted..... dust flying everywhere!!!...... I was nervous about Cuddles and Abby with the workmen here, so I finally decided to leave Cuddles in Daughter's room, and Abby in my office. I brought them each a litter box and their food bowls, so hopefully the will "deal" with the noise. Good luck with the job hunt Ann! Good for your dedication to Curves SOM! and hi to MC, KH & KK! (hope I didn't overlook anyone!)

Good for you to keep so faithful for going to curves SOM. I need to gain some sort of discipline in that respect!

Ann, good luck on the job search. Hope something turns up for you. I am frustrated with my job this morning as it seems since I sit on the other side from the mail room area and even though the other admins on my floor agreed to take turns taking care of it, it has become a huge mess and so my manager has decided for me to take it on. I am quite mad about this and am quite mad at the other admins attitude about this. I really just want to scream at someone but instead I must dig in and help with it since there aren't things for me to work on. My manager who I got back in October when they fired the Director I reported to, has a horrible habit of doing everything herself (expense reports, travel arrangements, printing out reports, etc). I hate to say it but there is really no reason to keep me on. I guess I will find that out in the next coming weeks with performance reviews being done and end of fiscal year coming up March 31st.
Last night I heard my next door neighbor drop something in the hallway and I went to see if they were okay. He was and that was when I saw him with boxes. I asked if he was moving and he said yes due to not being able to afford the apartment anymore. It got me to thinking about how maybe I should think about moving to a studio myself. I just hate to move and hate to upset my cats too. Something to ponder over.
So can I have a ginormous mug of hot chocolate with some baileys and kahlua in it? I need something to make me feel better. Job, finances, and life has got me down again today. Hope everyone has a good day.

SMM, here have a giant mug with Baileys, Kaluah and for good measure a tot of Irish whiskey!
What will you have to do with the mail room? Keep it organized and put the mail in their slots? At this point, I would take on any task that keeps me busy and keeps the paycheck coming. Hopefully, your immediate boss views having you as part of her position so she won't be tempted to let you go. Again, ask for projects or see if there is any research or database clean-up or anything to keep you relevant and employed!!!!! You can at least look at a studio apt and see if it has enough space and if the decrease in rent is compatible to the decrease in space.

Thanks Kykat for the mug of hot chocolate with "extras" in it.
I can work on the mail room project and actually have been doing that off and on even though it was never my responsibility. The other admins on my floor seem to think because I am the low person on the totem pole and apparently in their eyes I should be the one to manage it. Now my boss seems to agree with the idea that I must manage the mail/supply area and so I must jump in and do as she asks so that I appear as a good employee should be which is one of enthusiasm and cheer. Sorry to say that feeling isn't there right now because everytime I have gone and cleaned it up, organized and reorder things, it gets messed up again. Even my coworkers in my group mess things up and never clean up after themselves. Also everyone uses the counters as a dumping ground for unwanted things. Without my manager giving me administrative work such as expense reports, travel arrangements or report projects, she has me working on things that are really for an entry level admin. The other admins see this and so they see me as this low level admin and treal me this way. It is frustrating when I have 17 years of experience and should be working with Senior Director, VP, or even a SVP level and not with just only a Senior Manager whose main desire is to retire soon and raise grandkids (she is 50 years of age but has a husband who is a CFO at a large company and makes really good money so they can afford for her to not work, her two kids are grown and one is getting married in May). One would say I should be happy that I have a job, but how can one be happy when the job they are working doesn't give any satisfaction on a job well done? My Dad has said to me at various times, if you have to work, work a job that you at least like to do.
