I came home from work tonight, rushed in to use the bathroom (excuse the TMI!) and noticed on my way thru the bedroom that there was a gift-wrapped box on the end of the bed. When I came out of the bathroom I could hear MrKK and miniKK giggling in the bedroom and then I saw the box moving its way to the end of the bed - and a kitten fell out from underneath!
He is a gorgeous little tabby - looks a lot like my dear Spike - but without the bullseye on his side. That just makes me remember Spike more fondly, not miss him so much. I know some might think its too soon to get a new cat but I am pleased my dear husband and daughter went and got him. I will never forget Spike - I will chat to him whenever I hang out the washing as he is buried near the washing line and that was one of the times he used to be really friendly.
So what to call the new kitten? MiniKK wanted to call him Raccoon, MrKK then said Rocky. I said we can't call him Rocky - we have a new Rocky! So then I looked at the rings on his tail and we decided he will be Ringo. He was born in October and they got him from the SPCA - if I had gone with them we would have come home with all the kittens! There was a cute ginger one that MrKK was tempted by but miniKK put the kibosh on it - she thinks they grow into ugly cats (I'll try to raise her better).
So meet Ringo - he is my new gravatar (Press Ctrl F5 to refresh, folks!). Tomorrow I will create a Catster page for him. Dara is naturally less than impressed but Ringo is being kept in miniKK's room for now. Ringo is very laid back and purry - not nearly as scared as Spike was when we bought him home so here's hoping we will have a lapcat. He is the best birthday present they could have got me.
