  1. Apparently no one is too remote for the insanity to hit.

    Miu, what do you know?

  2. God, I hope this incident didn't effect you in any way. What is wrong with these kids today?? I'm sorry, I just don't get it.

  3. I am horrified. The news talk about 7 casualties. For now. It is just insane.

  5. I'm so sorry... terrible news. I always thought (still do) that the North of Europe is a safe place.

  6. I know this is unfluffy, but maybe the shooter will make it 9 and save the taxpayers of Finland a ton of money.

If only these murder-suicide sons-of-biscuit-eaters would do the "suicide" part first!

  7. I saw that bad news early this morning on Yahoo and was horrified. Sadly, Evil knows no boundaries.

  8. This is so terrible. What makes people do this? Prayers to the families of the school children. Prayers to the people of Finland. (((HUGS)))

  9. What's most frightening is that there are people out there with worms in their brains that sit quietly and fester until prevention is no longer an option. People have really got to be more interactive with their kids. And 18 yrs old is still a kid.

  10. It's more than that Sharon, these are people who think that they should be someone and think that the only way to become 'important' is by some action like this.

I'm not trying to oversimplify, but there is a lot of anger, self loathing, and projection that things aren't their fault but everyone elses.

  11. I'm disappointed once again that the website aloud such video showing this kid flashing guns. Alot of these kids learn from watching. And when you can go to a website & learn how to massacre, well, what can I say.
I pray for the families of those killed...Ginny,I feel the same way.
And Sharon...I never had children, but it scares the hell out of me to think about how unsafe todays children are when just trying to get an education. *shaking head in disbelief*

  12. Susie, here's the reason why: because there are more people who demand "free access to public education" as an 8-hr. babysitting service (and those people are noisier and more litigious), than there are people demanding "free access to public education" as a means of educating their kids!

On several occasions, we have been forced to admit dangerous (meaning "ticking time bomb" here) kids to school because of lawsuits filed by the parents when the district tried to take action. You should have seen the terror in the "normal" kids' eyes when the "dangerous" ones came in. Fortunately, the worst of the lot lasted less than a week before doing something stupid (beating up a sibling on another campus) and leaving for good.

What we need is for the silent majority to speak up! The kids know who the dangerous and disruptive are. Find out who is keeping your kid from learning, and complain loud and long! Personally, I'd like to set up two schools: one for those who are genuinely interested in learning, or would be if only given a chance/the other for the dangerous and those who start counting the days until they can drop out when they are in 5th grade (three years behind their peers). That'll never happen, though--1. it makes sense and 2. it requires people to get off their duffs. Oh well.
