  1. GD, lol that is true but I have put it off enough lately. PM, I hate leaving to go shopping because I know I won't be home for hours, since I try to do everything in one trip.

  2. I just get what I can remember and then manage for another week or so. The only thing I also make sure I have plenty of is cat food and toilet rolls. I never run out of either.

  3. PM, I have to go shopping today as well, I'm out of many things. Right now it is pouring rain so I'm hoping it lets up a bit before I go out.

GD, my girls are terribly picky too. Right now they eat Iams, but only the chicken flavor - they don't like the other flavors. And they WON'T eat canned, dry only for them please. I say find something that works and then stick with it. I don't know what I will do if one of them has to go on a special diet.

  4. I don't like shopping, either. Trying to find cat food today will be bad enough!

I'm definitely sticking with whatever they end up liking (except for the beloved Meow Mix). I hope to find something!

  5. I am feeding Garbo and Hepburn on the food recommended by the sanctuary (at the moment). It's called Royal Canin, it's dried food and it's horribly expensive - £14.00 for a 2 kg bag. They gave me 2 £4 off vouchers at the sanctuary, one for each cat, and when you use them Royal Canin give £1 to the sanctuary you got the cat from, so I'll buy two bags at least. After that they may have to go onto the cheaper stuff. I've been told never to use Go Cat because of all the colouring added. Like all additives it's bad for the cats and they don't care what colour their food is, so what's the point?

  6. Good morning, NNGM, Deb, GD and PM (and anyone else here or lurking!)!

I'm about to get ready to head over to the coast for the weekend. It will probably be rainy and windy, but we don't mind that. It will be very nice to get out of town!

I'm interested in this discussion of cat food. We had to find a new kibble for our two girls because the brand they've been eating all their lives is apparently being discontinued (Maxximum Benefit, a Walmart brand). I bought a small bag of Wellness Indoor food and asked the girls if they wanted a treat. Digit just about dove into the food bowl. Furl was more lady-like about eating but seems to like it just as much. :) It has a much higer protein content so we are watching their potty habits to see if there is a change.

    That Wellness food is expensive!!

  7. I'm watching a TV programme about the Galapagos Islands. Did you know that marine iguanas take in too much salt with their food, so they have special glands that enable them to sneeze the excess salt out? I've just watched them do it. It's hilarious.

  8. Oh, how I wish I could just sneeze out extra sodium! No more worrying about high blood pressure. LOL

Posted 3 years ago by NNGM #

  9. I have low blood pressure so I pretend I can eat as much salt as I want.

  10. Be sure and tell WWM about this novel way of eliminating salt! lol

Gotta go get ready for our beach trip. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

  11. PM, I can recommend Hills Science Diet dry food - I pay about £40 for a 10kgs bag that lasts our 3 two months.

  12. Once they have finished their 2 bags of Royal Canin I'll compare prices.

  13. PM...Royal Canin is a very good quality kibble. I had my 3 Muskateers (Misty,Spunky & Rusty) on it for their first 11 months. And in my financial state, it was godawful expensive, but, it was really worth it. The 3 have grown to be very strong & healthy. I think it might be why Spunky ended up so big & solid as a brick building. He's almost 20 lbs. at less than 2 yrs.old. And not a bit of fat on him. He did have a brush with crystals not too long ago, but, upping his fluid intake took care of that.

  14. Good morning, afternoon or evening.

I use Hills Science Diet Light dry food. I buy 10 lbs and it costs around $22 but it lasts a long time. The rescue organization that I got Mia from was feeding her Royal Canin which I bought a bag at first but later on change her over to Science Diet after she reached 10 months as that was what I was feeding Sylvester.

I did all my shopping yesterday but I still need to do vacuming, some laundry and scrubbing of the bathroom (ugh). Might wait till later today.

The sun is shining and the temperature is around 58. Mia is watching the doves in the tree outside my bedroom. This is the second set of eggs that they are raising. Birds are flitting about driving Mia nuts. She is chattering up a storm at them (I love that sound).

  15. Hello all---MCW, sorry to hear of Bones' problems--when Morris was in his final stages of basically just plain old age, I gave him whatever it was he liked and wanted--vet had literally forbidden cat treats of any kind, but near the end he got them anyway--he enjoyed his treats greatly. GD--Purina Foods were always good for my cats, especially Morris with thier Urinary Tract Formula, since he had a serious bout with that, but he also had a problem with any food that had red pieces of Kibble in it--Vet said many cats are alergic to the red food dye.
Hope all are doing well--haven't been on in quite awhile since my computer is seriously in need of being tossed out a window, and have been having problems signing in here. But I still "lurk" alot. Hope everyone has a good weekend

  16. I think we may have a winner! I stopped by PetsMart on the way from work and got a bag of Science Diet Light. Milo, being Milo, ran straight for the bowl! I brought some pieces up to Bobby who was on the kitty castle and he ate them! Yay! I'm keeping my fingers crossed he doesn't change his mind!
I looked at Royal Canin and that sure IS expensive!

KW, I got Wellness for my boys as it sounded really great. They both hated it! Mi ate a bit of it, but bobby refused. I left it down for them for 2 days and still he refused ans Mi ate sparingly when he was really hungry.

I wish they would make smaller sample bags of cat food so my boys could try out several kinds without me throwing money out the window when they don't like the big 3-4 lb bag I bring home.

  17. GD, talk with Petsmart about your trying different cat food and see if they can help you with some samples. I am sure some of the cat food companies leave samples for the store people to try out. I know that Walmart will let you return shampoo if you don't like it and so maybe Petsmart or Petco might help you with that too.

MCW, I am sorry to hear about Bones. I too agree to give them what they want if they are in the last stages of their life. Hope he is happy with his Sheba. We have it hear and it is considered the fancy cat food. I have never bought it.

  18. Hi Karin, how are you doing?

Actually, i mentioned my cat food troubles to the lady at the register at PetsMart and she told me if I keep the receipt, I can bring it back if the boys don't like it. I wish I still had the receipt for the wellness!

  19. I finally did the shopping. Yuk.

Now sitting watching TV having cooked dinner. The cats are wandering about, eating and drinking. Still avaoiding any personal contact.

  20. I'm going to bed now. Goodnight.

Husband just spooked Garbo and she has gone flying behind the settee again.
