Just spoke to XBF. He had to put down Misty today due to a horrible URI. She was 16.
She was such a sweet kitty who had a good life with XBF. She'll be missed :(

I did, AZ. I remember when XBF's ex didn't want her anymore and he drove her all the way from Virginia to Florida. She came home all skinny and with fleas and we gave her flea baths daily. She was so sick, XBF let her sleep in the bed which she'd never be allowed before. From that day on, she slept in the bed and loved it. She used to purr so loudly she'd wake me up at night.
She was a real talker, too. I used to wake up in the mornings to XBF and her having conversations :) -
GD, I am so sorry about Misty. RIP Misty, you were and always will be loved.

Thanks, everybody!
Bobby and Mi are getting lots of hugs and pets tonight - whether they want them or not.Misty used to love being outside on the screened-in patio, basking in the sun or chasing lizards. I remember once there was a hole in the screen and I mentioned to XBF that Misty was nowhere in sight. He got annoyed and yelled "Misty Kitty get your furry butt back here right now". Next thing you know, Misty was peeking in the hole in the screen and then came running through the patio and straight into the house. She knew the rules :)
Her favorite thing was a Christmas gift I got her a couple Christmases ago. It was this rubber scratching thing you could adhere on a corner for a cat to rub it's head against. XBF put it in the kitchen by her food and water bowls and she was constantly rubbing against it.

Oh sad news, GD. Sending my condolences to XBF and to you. Sounds like her life with the XBF's ex was hard but that at least she got to spend the rest of her time in comfort. I love the part about you waking up to hearing XBF having a conversation with Misty as well as her purring so loudly she woke you up. RIP sweet Misty. Say hello to Whiskers for me.
I just finished the Dewey book this afternoon and was crying when I read the end of it. I started thinking about how hard it must be to put your beloved cat to sleep. It is the highest form of love as it is the hardest thing one has to do. I dread the day I may have to make that decision for my wonderful Sylvester. He is going to be four in August. Sylvester saw me crying and came immediately after I was done with the book and slept in my lap like he was trying to say it is okay Mom, I am here and not going anywhere soon. He purred himself to sleep. It was comforting. Give Bobby and Milo lots of hugs and scritchies.

Too much traffic at the Bridge these days from beloved friends leaving us. But the holes in our hearts provide room for new friends to come in. So sorry to hear about Misty Kitty. Will keep her and her human companions in my prayers tonight.

Thank you!
Bobby came up for a blankie-sucking session and that made me feel better.
Karin, no Misty did not like living with XBF's ex. She made her a barn cat and that didn't suit her at all. Luckily she was only there for something like 4-5 months. She was happy to be back home with her dad. -
Sorry to hear that Misty has crossed the bridge, GD. Good boy, Bobby, for comforting your momma when she is sad!

Nothing is more difficult than saying goodbye to a cat you've had for years. So sorry to hear that. God takes good care of his animals that cross the Bridge.

GD...I'm so sorry for the loss of Misty. My Sympathies to You & your XBF. Your such a good person to stay friends with him like you've done. I'm sure he needs that friendship after losing his little sweetheart. She lived a nice, long life. Misty is now playing at the bridge with all our other furbabies & is no longer in pain.
