Emma is injured

  1. Hi, sweeties.

    Just a quick check-in to ask for some prayers. Last night I got up, grabbed some garden pots off the coffee table, stood up quickly and realized that my right foot had gone to sleep.

    Then I fell, and my right foot twisted under me and I heard this really weird "c-c-c-r-r-r-u-u-u-n-n-n-ch."

    According to the Urgent Care people this morning, my foot is broken (deep chip on the fifth metatarsal), and I have to see an orthopedic surgeon.

    Any loose prayers that are lying around would be most appreciated. There is a surgical boot on my foot, a cane in my hand, and I feel like an idiot. My only consolation is that I am YOUR idiot!

    Much love,
    Emma

  2. Holy cow, Emma! There are plenty of prayers and well wishes and finger and toe crossing available! Hope it turns out to be not as bad as it sounds! and a bruised ego is nothing to sneer at either :) Sit down with your feet up with some chocolate and alcohol or whatever your little heart desires. {{HUGS}}

  3. Oh my! Some years ago, I sprained my ankle doing the same thing, so I know how easy it is to do. Take care, sweetie! Praying for quick recovery!

  6. Now I feel a bit less stupid. Thanks, Linda and PaulaJeanne, Buttercup and SMM.

    Can't believe this happened. March and November are my busiest months in the year, and now I can't stand on my feet or do anything that I need to do.

    I can see myself in one week: on the couch, surrounded by empty Cheetoh bags and the remnants of hot chocolate, with both cats mumbling, "Why doesn't she move? That's OUR couch!"

    AAARRRRGH!

  8. Oh my dear Emma!! My prayers are on the way!! You are by no means an Idiot!! If it had been me I likely would have gone face first into the litterbox and ended up with a broken nose! It sounds so very painful, I sure hope they gave you something good!!

    ps. I believe this boot will really make your ninja suit look fierce! What a kick you will have now!!

  9. Look at it this way: now you will have a whack-bonk stick close at hand when needed! :)

    I'm sorry, Emma! Hope you're better soon.

  11. You are probably better off with a break than a sprain--sprains never seem to heal completely. {{{HUGS}}}

  12. Emma, the important question is this: did anyone see you do this? (I don't mean the cats of course, they are very good about keeping quiet about these things).

    Take it easy on yourself - go ahead and lay on that couch and eat Cheetos and chocolate and snuggle with the kitties and GET WELL!

  13. Emma! I did the same thing in December! I fell bringing up laundry from the basement and scared poor little Wilma to death! Felt like an idiot! Just got my "boot" off too! I feel your pain! Lots of hugs and prayers your way!

  14. OH, NO,Emma!!! This is unhappy news to read on this Monday! I wish that I lived close to you so that I could rush over to be your private duty nurse. Maybe I could even save you from Cheeto overdose. It wasn't stupid, it was an accident and I imagine that we have all been there. One time when Mr. WWM and I were skiing my new Army ball cap blew off. We were on a transit trail going from one area to another, so it wasn't even steep. But I came to a screeching halt, turned to see where my hat went only my knee didn't turn with me. I completely blew out my knee and was in a brace for six months. So these things do happen.

    Sending lots of hugs and love your way.

  15. Ouch Emma!
    I have endless prayers laying around to send your way. I worked for a podiatrist part time for 15 years and have seen cases similar to yours. If the foot twists just right, something will break.
    I have to agree with Linda's RX: put those feet up (yes, the good one too!) and choose your poison.
    Feel better soon.

  20. {{{Emma}}} So sorry to hear this, hope you're back on your (sound) feet soon. George sends gentle headbonks (yes, he really can do gentle when he wants to, and for Emma he wants to).

  21. {{{Emma}}} Don't feel silly. The same thing happened to me on the last night of my (feline) sister Darlene's life. I got up to check on her repeatedly, and one of those times put my full weight on a leg I didn't realize was asleep. I didn't break anything, but the foot involved hurt now and then for several years after that.

  30. Dear Emma! Anyone can do that. A few years ago I made a lovely five point landing in our hall (the fifth point was my nose!) when I stood up on a sleeping calf muscle. Only time and rest will ease the pain. Sending you white light, buckets of healing energy and headbonks from Lady Coco. (she's choclate colored, you know, but not edible.)
