Y'all, I've been watching this story since yesterday, and just can't get it out of my head. Why would anyone do something like this? :(

  3. In this day and age I guess I shouldn't be shocked but I am. It is tragic for that poor church. They are all in my prayers.

  4. They said the shooter had Lyme's disease and that it had messed up his brain. You'd think you would be safe in church, however in this day and age, I don't think you're really safe anywhere. So sad.

  5. Why does someone with a messed-up brain have a gun?

  6. That is just horrible, they are talking about the need to increase security in churches. (!)

  7. That is so sad, a church is a refuse!!!

  8. My dad is talking about carrying his gun to church, if his pastor approves. It's sad, really. From the earliest days, the church was the one place you COULD go and be absolutely safe unarmed. I don't suppose anywhere is safe anymore. :(

  9. When my dad was still up and around, he never left home without his gun and yes, even took it to church. We used to call him the pistol packing deacon. He started carrying it after coming home from Bible study one night and having somebody up-to-no-good follow him into the gate of the apartments he lived in at the time. Did he pull it on them? You bet. Would he have shot them? Absolutely. Serves them right for trying to pick on an old man.

  10. HM, your dad sounds like mine! It freaks my Chinese stepmom and stepsister out though; they don't like guns at all.

  11. 2bp, did you mean refuge?

  12. If that had happened to my retired former pastor, I would have made sure the shooter was DOA. Forget the knife; I'd have done it with my bare hands, and elbows, and knees. Then the media could talk about my psychiatric history.

  13. Bellantara - my dad is from 'the country' and that's just the way he was raised. I think he probably even carried a gun when he was at the Post Office delivering mail. Even though I myself have a permit to carry, I usually don't unless I'm going out late at night. Yes, Bobbi, when we went to dinner I had a gun in my bag. Now I can tell you that - lol.

  16. Thanks 2B, you WOULD be safe, lol. I don't understand people saying, well don't go out because it's late or blah blah blah. What, am I supposed to let the criminals make me a prisoner??? Ummmm....no!!
