Tuesday Morning Cafe

(51 posts)
  1. Hi Cm and everyone else. Sorry to run off right after opening the cafe (lol) I had a meeting.

Foot's doing better, than you CM. Still has tingles, kinda like when your foot goes to sleep. Voltaren gel is a good topical anti-inflammatory NSAID. I'm walking a bit better. Not ready to run marathons, but since I never had anyway, I'm not missing anything :-)

It would be nice to walk without pain though....

It's wet wet wet here in Kalamazoo. Might get into the 50's this afternoon. I'm still tired from my Barforama(tm) over the weekend, so it looks to be another early bedtime for Bonzo tonight (lol).

  2. CM I've said it before and I'll say it again. The ONLY thing I hated about living in California was the weather. It was always the same. Boring.

  3. Glad your foot is somewhat better, Sio...
We lived in CA also....if the weather is always nice, then I wouldn't mind being that kind of bored :))))Guess I'm just a fair-weather person! Hi to HM...that little dickens, Rocky..how cute!!

  4. Jammies and a tutu - lovin' the visual!
Hi HM! I swear, cats are usually much more entertaining than anything on the bazillion tv channels!
I got on the contractor's case about the job dragging even though we paid promptly (holding final payment, obviously. Haven't cut a check for them since mid-December.). They have been there 2 days in a row - I kid you not. Yesterday they were there for more than 2 hours! Looks like finish-up work in the bathroom, gutters, outdoor painting and poly the stairs. Then it's final inspection time. After that, we will have a walk thru. We have been doing our own punch list each week and now will have to decide what we will make them fix, what we can live with and what we will do on our own. In general, it looks good. *fingers, toes, eyes crossed - ack! maybe not the eyes!*

  5. I don't understand the whole dragging your feet on the job especially when you are paid!

  6. Joan, sounds like you are trying to put your foot down as well as that the contractor has too many jobs going on along with yours. I hate when they do that. My parents remodel took something like 16 months but they had a almost tear the house down completely type of remodel.

CM, I hope the girls feel better. Sounds like a grand time with staying jammies all day today. I too need to do laundry. I also need to do the vacuming and scrub the bathroom. My cats tolerate my hair dryer but do not like the vacume machine. They run to hide under the bed or on one of the chairs so they can hide under the dining table but still be up high.

I was born and raised in California and can say we do have seasons but we don't have the radical changes that the midwest and east coast has. Our weather is much milder and so to those who did not grow up here, they seem to not change much. There seem to be way too many people who like this kind of weather as it is getting more and more crowded in the SF Bay Area. I have to say I am ready to move to a place where there aren't so many people around. This morning it was around 39 degrees and I was cold. Normal temperatures aren't this cold this time of year. They are usually more in the low 50's. Of course 39 is balmy weather to those who get the minus weather.

Can I steal a couple of waffles with some nice canadian maple syrup and nice big plate of extra crispy bacon. Oh and a mug of steaming hot chocolate with a dollop of whip cream. Mia this morning was looking at me like do you have to leave Mom? I really didn't want to go not only because it was cold out but because of the look Mia gave me. So cute!

Okay, need to win the lotto so all my bills are paid off and I don't have to work if I don't want to anymore. Now wouldn't that be nice! Dream a little dream as they say.

  7. SMM, I agree 39 IS cold. BRRRRR. I agree, staying home with Sylvester and Mia sounds so much better than going to work. Winning the lottery is a great idea, we need to do that too. of course we have to play

  8. Hi to SMM..you are right about having the seasons, even in a mild climate.
How did Mia react to treats, or won't she get them till tonight again? Whoever wins the lottery on TDK, let's agree to divy it up :))))) LOL!

  9. It is still 6 below zero here, -21 with the wind chill. I am so ready for winter to be over! Global warning, I spit on you! So glad I don't have to go out today, and tonight it is supposed to be worse. Oh yes, good morning, everyone!

  10. Morning all! Finally a relaxing morning. No more cleaning up kitty barf/diarrhea/butt baths! School isn't until 5 tonight, and I don't have work so I get to wind down a bit. Thank goodness

  11. Yay for Gini. How are Taco and Feeny today???

Posted 3 years ago by HuddysMama #

  12. They are doing much better! Thanks for asking :) Taco is all better and Feeny is about 90% there. His poop is a bit mushy but no more throwing up or horrible diarrhea. Fortunately Feeny didn't take to it as bad as Taco did and he didn't get dehydrated to the point of needing to go to the vet.

  13. I'm glad your babies are better. I love Taco and Feeny. Hey, I love everybody's purrbabies.

  14. Hi all!
I couldn't sleep last night, so I slept in this morning. I then met a dog-sitting client at 10:30 and then ran around to get some things from Bobby for Ellen for watching him. I got her a shirt at the tournament and today I picked up a bone for her dog (for letting Bobby borrow his Mama), some colorful grips for her tennis racquet and a gift certificare for Dunkin Donuts.

Now I'm relaxing before leaving for work around four.

  15. PJ, my gosh....thought we were still cold at 36, even though it is going to get colder they say! Hi Gini...YEAH for Taco and Feeny getting better! I do hope it lasts..no more sickness! Hi to GD also! Nice things you got for Ellen!

  16. I'm so glad Rocky is happy in his new home - and that HM is happy with him!
I'm also relieved poor Taco and Feeny are feeling better!

Thanks, Katthays - I wanted to do something to thank her for helping out with Bobby. I would have paid her, but that just seems weird with a friend and I know she would have refused. Instead I made her up a gift bag, got her a card and put a picture of Bobby in it for her. I'm also going to let her know I'll watch her dog for free any time she may need it.
She sent me an email asking me if I wanted her kitty's things for the boys. She'll bring it tomorrow for tennis practice and I can take what I need and she'll donate the rest to a shelter.

  17. Yes, friends usually say NO to being paid, so what you did was a great idea! Did your friend lose her kitty?

Posted 3 years ago by katthays #

  18. Yes, her Sammy passed away a few days after she was done watching Bobby for me. Sammy was 20 years old. Tough week - Ellen lost Sammy and XBF lost Misty :(

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  19. Oh...sad...I do remember about Misty :( Sounds like Ellen won't be getting another kitty.

Posted 3 years ago by katthays #

  20. No. She knew her Sammy wasn't well for a while and I mentioned to her about getting another kitty before Sammy passed away, but she told me she wasn't planning on it. She adopted a dog a couple of years ago and she really enjoys him. But never say never, right?

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  21. Exactly! Sometimes those little furballs find us!
