   The party preparations are finally complete! We've hung helium filled multicolored mylar balloons thru the house; some are cat shaped and some are mouse shaped, and all bob up and down gaily! We have the furniture pushed up against the walls in the great room, to make room for the kitty dance floor. Multicolored streamers hang from every ceiling fan, dancing in the breeze to dazzle the kitties. The CD player is ready with selections of any kind of music the kitties could want, organized by genre and accessible to kitty paws. We have kitty trees, scratching posts, and ramps on the stairs, so kitties can scamper up to view the dance floor from upstairs! Covered litter boxes are discreetly placed in bathrooms and quiet corners, away from the food, drink and activity areas, and with enough privacy for even the most discriminating kittens. Catnip mice, bizzy balls, feather toys, and kitty mazes are set up throughout the house, too, so none of the kitties will be bored. We also have several lounge areas for any and all kitties who need to take their obligatory cat naps during the party!

   Mac and Grommie have made gift bags for all their kitty furrends to take home from the party. Each little net bag includes catnip mice, 'nip candies and a feather bird, and is tied with multicolored curling ribbons. They have placed all the bags in an open bin next to the door, so each kitty remembers to take one home when they leave the party.

   The cases of 'nip soda are chilling in the 'fridge; and we have all kinds of liquid refreshment for everykit's meowma, too ;-)

   Grommet and MacKenzie have been helping prepare trays and trays of all their kitty furrend's favorite treats ~ crab cakes, salmon cakes, tuna sashimi, lobster tails on ice, shrimp on ice, lamb lollipops, liver pate, bacon wrapped scallops, beef and pork tenderloin kabobs, seafood mousse on 'nip crackers, and for those kits with a sweet tooth we have 'nip candy, canteloupe fruit tarts topped with 'nip spiced whipped cream, and watermelon popsicles on ice. All the kitty food snacks have been placed throughout the house, upstairs and down, so kitties can roam freely and never be far from the goodies!

   Grommet has been working hard to make "her" bedroom ready for the girls' sleepover, too.... she's arranged kitty beds, made room for the wonderful pink tent with kitty ears that Betty and Wilma are bringing, set out kitty carafes with 'eau de nuit' (bottled water), and, kitty robes in case guests from out of town aren't used to the chilly San Antonio nights. She's been to the Kitty beauty supply store to pick up a complete assortment of nail polish, colored nail caps, special kitty shampoos and conditioners, tubes of catnip flavored tooth whitening gel, kitty hair mousse, hair bows, flowers, barrettes, scrunchies, and decorative collars, combs, brushes, and massage loofahs. She's also booked the services of several kitty massage therapists and groomers for the entire morning on Wednesday! (Meowma's credit card will NEVER be the same again!!!!)

   Unbeknownst to Mac and Grommie, as a special birthday surprise, Meowma has ordered two larger-than-life-sized birthday cakes of Mac and Grommet from Ace of Cakes Duff Goldman (Food Network guy), to be delivered between 1PM and 2PM today! Grommet's is a 'chicken flavored greenie' cake with 'nip flavored chicken liver mousse frosting (her favorites), and Mac's is a 'seafood flavored greenie' cake with salmon mousse frosting (his favorites)...... There will be more than enough birthday cake for all the kitties, and we will have several different flavors of 'nip ice cream to go with the cakes!

   Meowma has also recruited the kitty staff from the TDK cafe to help take care of all the kitty parents who can attend the party. There will be the usual cafe delights available throughout the day, starting with the breakfast/brunch goodies ~ croissants, sweet rolls, toast, bagels, english muffins, omlettes, juices, coffees, bacon, more bacon, eggs benedict, pancakes, waffles, blody marys, virgin marys, mimosas, ..... and, thru the day, any and all snacks and beverages kitty parents desire!!! We want every kitty parent and every kitty to have whatever they might desire today!!!

   Mac, Grommie and Kittymom look around the house for the last time...... everything seems to be in place......... Kittymom looks over at Mac, "I think its time for you to head to the wormhole to pick up Betty and Wilma for your party." Mac's face lights up as he scampers to the wormhole and just as he heads in, he turns around to Grommie and says, "Let the party begin!!!" Whoosh!!!

   Whoosh! Mac pops back thru the wormhole with Betty and Wilma! Grommie is so excited to see the girls again ~ there are purrs and headbonks all around and Grommie takes them upstairs to show them her bedroom. "You can leave your things in here," she says, showing them the spot she has arranged especially for them. "We can set up your tent later tonight, if that's OK with you two. I'm hoping we'll have more of the girls join us toinght for our sleepover. I've got lots of fun things planned for our spa/beauty day tomorrow! I'll tell you all about it later, but, now, let's get back downstairs to see who else is here." Betty and Wilma store their backpacks and tent, and the girls scamper back downstairs to join the party......

   Whoo Hoo!!! My kitties are all ready for the party, although they will have to be on their best behavior cause mama is very busy this morning.
   All dressed up....Check...Present wrapped and ready....Check....Jumbo bag of Greenies and 4 dozen catnip mice....Check.....
   Okay to the cathole and off to the party....

   Willow and Windi screech with delight over the prospect of going to San Antonio and attending the party and the sleepover. The girls are bringing Hello Kitty sleeping bags in case they won't fit into the tent. And they have their soft flannel nightgowns that are white, covered with little pink pawprints. Windi has brought a hairnet in case she has to sleep with rollers in her hair. Willow, always thinking of her sister, has tucked a bib in Windi's bag in case Windi gets too excited eating so many treats.

   The girls have packed a basket with fish tacos for all of the kitties. They decided on mild nip salsa, since some of the guests may not be used to spicy Tex-Mex food.

   Of course they are bringing a pinata filled with toys and treats for all of the kitties, and they have even remembered a bat to use in breaking open the pinata.

   Willow and Windi wrapped Mac's present themselves, and they are pretty certain that he won't be able to guess what it is. Windi made the bow, but she had to chew on it first so it looks a bit ragged. They are bringing Mac a whole case of desert lizards and crickets! And they have a real Texas belt buckle for him, just like the rodeo stars wear.

   For Grommie, the girls picked out a cowgirl outfit, complete with a fringed vest and skirt, fringed boots and a cowgirl hat.

   Willow smoothes down Windi's sundress and tidies her own fur. The girls give mama a kiss and off they go!

   Cricket and Fred whoosh through the cathole to pick up Bobby and Mi, then they all whoosh through again to Mac and Grommie's house. Fred is so excited to be hanging out with Mac again. They run over and all hug Mac and Grommie and say Happy Birthday. Bobby and Mi brought a gift so they put it on the gift table and Cricket puts the one from Fred and her there too. They got them some cat dancers, nip mice, 2 brand new collars, pink for Grommie and Green for Mac. Cricket has also brought her backpack with her jammies, and all kinds of nail polish, bows, brushes, and combs. Meowmy told her to be on her best behavior for the sleep over. Cricket asks Grommie where she can put her stuff for the night.

   Grommie shows all the girls up to her room, and tells them they can put their things anyplace they'd like; there will be plenty of time to unpack later. Betty and Wilma ask if Mac can help put up the kitty tent before bedtime. "Of course," Grommet assures them, "he'll be happy to help if we can't figure it our for ourselves." On the way back downstairs she shows them some of the play areas arranged for the party. "Over here we have a fun kitty maze," she points out a 24" diameter 5 foot long red parachute cloth pipeline snaking down the side of the hallway just beyond the top of the stairs. It has a black feather bird hanging down inside at the end to lure the kitties in to chase it; the "bird" waves slightly with any nearby movement, just enough to encourage stalking.... "And, over here," she points to the hallway area open to the two story great room, we can watch the activity on the dance floor downstairs." "We have litter boxes descreetly placed in every room, and snacks everywhere, so please help yourselves anytime." "We have two ramps on the stairs, one with carpet for running up, and one that is very smooth highly polished wood so that we can slide down, just for fun." C'mon, lets try it!" she giggles and jumps on for a quick trip back downstairs. It is the kitty equivalent of sliding down the bannister, and the girls quickly follow her lead. Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, the girls slide down one by one, giggling as they go! Mac and Fred have started the music, as more kitties arrive and greet eachother. They decide to start out with some selections from the Dixie Chicks "Fly" CD ..... "Some Days You Gotta Dance" fills the room, and the kitties quickly take the 'advice' to heart!

   Grommet, Willow and Windi are line dancing ~ it's a Texas thing! While Mac, Fred, and Bobby invite Cricket, Betty and Wilma to two step. BooBoo is enjoying a salmon cake and admiring the kitties on the dance floor. His furrsis, Betty, is watching the girls who are line dancing. Grommie breaks the line and runs over, "C'mon give it a try," she purrs, "I'll teach you ~ it's really easy! There are just a few steps, and you do them over and over." She leads Betty back to the dance floor and quickly shows her the steps. "One, two, three steps forward, kick your paw, one, two, three steps right, kick your paw, one, two, three steps back, turn around, rock back once, and repeat..... see, it's really easy!" She takes Betty's paw and walks her thru the steps a couple of times and just that quickly, Betty is line dancing too!

   "Can I go NOW, Mom?"
   Whoosh! Zoom! Thud! Ta-da! Leela's here. She darts around to check out her surroundings and remembers to check that she has everything she was supposed to bring. Big presents for Grommie and Mac that she wrapped herself. You can tell because she hasn't really figured out tape so there's some fur stuck to it and the paper is torn a bit. She brought her favorite crab cake treats and puts them on one of the many goodie tables and finds Kittymom. "I brought you some flowers. Thank you for inviting me! I have made some wonderful friends through TDK and I'm so happy to see some of my new friends again!"
   Leela finds Grommie first. She's looking over her salon stuff and Leela gives her a fresh bottle of bright pink claw polish. "Happy Birthday Grommet!"
   She runs across the room and finds Mac. "Happy Birthday Mackenzie! Here's a cat dancer. My mommie brought one home from a TDK party and I love them. I hope you do to!"
   Leela is overwhelmed by the ever-growing action. She makes the rounds and makes sure to see everyone and chat while they have snacks and dance.

    Cricket runs over to Leela and gives her a big hug.
    "are you going to stay for the sleepover? we are going to have so much fun. We can do our nails and fur and giggle and eat all night!"

    Yay! The girls got there! They sound like they are having a fun time! Meowmy is so happy! Now I can go to the airport and not worry about the girls! Have fun! Not too much nip. Hope it is a good spa day tomorrow.

    Grommie runs over too and says, "Oh yes, Leela, please stay for the sleepover, we'll have such fun!" And, I love the pink claw polish, it's such a beautiful color. We can all do our claws tomorrow, after breakfast, of course." "Please say you'll stay!"

    "I just asked Mom and she said yes!" Leela promised Mom she would be good and mind her manners and be respectful to Kittymom. She also promised that she would try to remember to cover up when she uses the litterbox!
    Leela brought her backpack, just in case. There's her pink afghan that her Mom had when she was a girl. She brought Larry the Lion, her favorite snuggie toy and her bed that she got from her Mom's co-worker's kitty. She also brought a big book about adventures of big cats and some pictures from Aunt Cheri's reunion with Velvet and Spice. She brought a couple of disposable cameras and left them around so anyone can take pictures anytime they want.
    The decorations around here are fantastic! Leela likes anything that's shiny or has feathers. Aunt Debbie gave her a toy and she's already ripped the peacock feather off! This is so much fun - it's great to see everyone!

    Mi takes a break from feasting on liver mousse and goes looking for his big bro. Just like he tought - Bobby is rolling around with a nip mouse, making a fool of himself. Mi taps him on the shoulder and tells him to come join the festivities. Reluctantly Bobby leaves the mousie behind and joins the party. Ooooh, is that nip soda?

    Yes, there is plenty of 'nip soda, and all the kitties are exploring the house. Some are chasing feather toys, and some are running up the stairs and sliding back down! Mac, Bobby and Milo have started a game of three way busy ball ~ batting the ball around like kitty soccer players! Kittymom looks around anxiously, hoping for the doorbell to ring soon..... the special birthday cakes she ordered are due anytime now.....

    Mr. Kitty slicks his long hair down and fluffs his tail! Goober makes sure his face is clean. Leggs gathers up Moe and Calli and gets them ready for the party. Buddy, the new kid, is still kinda shy so he isn't sure about coming but he thinks it will be all right. So with presents in paws they make their way thru the wormhole to what looks like a wonderful party. Each one squeezes in and looks around. "Wow, everything is so pretty" exclaims Calli. Hello everyone! Happy Birthday Mac and Grommie!!

    Willow, being the great organizer, is running around asking everyone if they want to break open the pinata. "There are lots of toys inside! There are real feathers and balls that make noise, and pipe cleaners that look like big worms!!!" She gets out the pinata and asks Kittymom if she could hang it up outside.

    Windi is so excited about the prospect of breaking the pinata when she swings the bat that she has to make a mad dash for a litter box.

    The kitties are jumping and skipping around the pinata ~ "my turn, my turn" they're shouting as they line up to take a whack at the pinata! Each kitty grabs the bat in turn, WHUMP! The pinata swings madly..... WHUMP! It twirls again.... "Almost, almost!" kitties shout with glee! Kittymom hopes each kitty will have at least one turn with the bat before the pinata breaks open and spills the goodies around for everyone... Then, CRACK! She turns to look up at the pinata just as the doorbell rings.... No time to worry about pinata contents now, she has to answer the door because the birthday cakes must have arrived. Since the kitties are busy with the pinata she will have time to get the cakes on the table and set out more plates, napkins, spoons, ice cream and 'nip sodas.....

    What a picture!!! There is a sea of fur of all colors and sizes as the kitties go tumbling over each other to see all the treats and toys that are coming out of the pinata. "Hey Bobby, I picked up 2 catnip mice, here, catch!"

    The cakes are here! Kittymom has the delivery man bring them inside and put them on the table ~ they look purrfect! So lifelike.... two larger-than-life-sized birthday cakes of Mac and Grommet from Ace of Cakes Duff Goldman (Food Network guy)! Grommet's is a 'chicken flavored greenie' cake with 'nip flavored chicken liver mousse frosting (her favorites), and Mac's is a 'seafood flavored greenie' cake with salmon mousse frosting (his favorites)...... Kittymom sets out the plates, cartons of 'nip ice cream in assorted flavors, each with its own ice cream scoop, so kitties can help themselves, napkins, spoons and 'nip sodas. She puts two large candles shaped like the number 1 on each cake (Mac and Grommie are eleven this year), and has her bic stick lighter at the ready..... She goes to the door where the kitties are outside playing with the goodies from the pinata and calls out, "Which kitties are ready for birthday cake? You can come back to the pinata goodies later!"

    "Cake, Cake, cake!" We want cake!" the kitties start chanting as they head thru the door and gather round the table. "Ohhh, look! It's Mac and Grommie! Oh, those are soooo cute!" The kitties laugh and point to the cakes; oh, do we get to eat them? They are so cute, do you have to cut them?" kitties are chattering as they gather for the obligatory song..... Kittymom lights the candles, Mac and Grommie hop up on their booster stools next to their cakes and the 'singing' begins..... "Happytail Purrday tooooo youuuu, happytail purrday tooooo yooouuuuu, happytail purrday dear Mac and Grommie, Happytail purrday tooooo yooouuuu!" all the kitties sing in unison. Just as the song ends, the slightest intake of breath is heard from both sides of the cakes, then "WWHHOOO" "WWhhhoooo" as Mac and Grommie blow out their candles in unison.

    Then the chattering begins as all the kitties line up for 2 pieces of cake (one piece of each flavor) and 'nip ice cream. Grommie helps some of the smaller kitties with the ice cream, and every kitty finds a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the delicious kitty cake.

    As the kitties are happily munching on their cake and ice cream, Kittymom quietly checks and cleans any litter boxes that need tending. Then, she clears away dirty plates and crumpled napkins from earlier snacks, tidying up for the next round of fun! She also plumps up the kitty beds, knowing some kitties will be taking catnaps after they finish all that 'nip cake, ice cream and soda.

    ;-)

    She knows there will be more dancing, and, of course, Mac and Grommet will want to open their presents; but, right now all the kitties are engrossed in their cake ~ all she hears is the sound of nomming, with the occasional purrrrr drifting thru the room. A quick trip upstairs to freshen up everything there, and back to the kitchen for a break.

    Mac runs over to greet Rocky, Mavvy and Hudson ~ "Hi guys! I'm so glad you're here; I thought maybe your meowma forgot! C'mon, I'll get you guys some cake, ice cream and 'nip sodas! When we're finished eating, I'll show you guys around. It's great to see you again," he tells them truthfully as gives each guy a headbonk then takes them to the cake table.

    Cricket is trying to eat the cake without getting crumbs all over the place, but it's so good..nom nom. She looks at Leela next to her and agrees that this cake is wonderful.
    Fred is eating and laughing and talking with the boys, he doesn't care like most boys that he is making a mess. Cricket shoot him a look which he ignores.
    Cricket then sees Huddy, Mavvy and Rocky come in.
    "Hi boys!!! Come over here and have some cake!"

    Leela's mom is heading out to get her hair trimmed. Kittymom, thank you for inviting my little girl to the party and letting her stay overnight. She promised to be a good girl and she actually usually keeps her promises! There should be a food & water dish, several packets of Whiskas and extra plates (she wanted to bring extra to share) and a container with kitten crunchies in it. There's plenty of that to share with the little ones too, although Joan knows firsthand that grownup kitties love kitten food, which is why she packed plenty.
    Have a good time Leela! *Joan gives her baby a smooch* "Awww, ma!"

    Grommie is just finishing her plate of cake and ice cream. She's sitting with a group of the girls, and, dabbing her whiskers with her napkin and licking her lips to get the last crumbs, she says, "That was delicious. I'm having such a good time, and I'm so glad you all are here to share this day with Mac and I!" Then she stretches her front paws gracefully and purrs,"If anyone would like to take a catnap, please feel free to curl up anywhere. We have cuddle cups all over the house, and purr pads, and chairs, couches and human beds. Just take your pick." Then she stands up and says, "I'll be right back, I'm just going to put on a CD ~ some Rod Stewart, "Great American Songbook" and that way, kitties who want to, can dance, and those who are ready for a little nap can sleep; those who want to play some more, can do that too!"

    It IS her birthday party, and Grommet DOES like presents (actually, she likes GIVING presents almost as much as she likes getting them!), so, being a curious girl........ she casually strolls over to the gift table for a quick look. Suddenly, her whiskers twitch and her little cat ears prick to attention..... She jumps up on the nearby chair for a better look. Can it be? She thinks she saw one of the packages moving ever so slightly, and, it almost seems to be whispering; she thinks she hears, ever so softly,"crik, crik, crik" coming from the same package! Now she must get up on the table for a closer look. It's an easy jump from the chair, and she looks down at the festively wrapped package and gingerly reaches out her paw to touch it. Slowly, slowly she extends the paw.... then.... one pat and ...whoosh, she instantly snatches the paw away! The package seems to be vibrating! She looks at the gift tag and realizes it is a gift for MacKenzie from Willow and Windi. What CAN it be? she wonders. What can it be? So... she runs to the kitchen to find meowma. "Mom, mom, you won't believe this," she whispers. "Mac has a gift from Willow and Windi, and the box is moving and making noises!" "Honest, Mom, I'm not making it up! Come and look! Quick, Mom! Hurry!" she whispers urgently, rubbing Kittymom's legs to push her towards the gift table......
