  1. I love her name. My son is a Latin scholar so he really enjoyed their Latin names.

  3. It's been exactly a week since Mina moved in... She's doubled her weight (now she's nearly a pound) in that time and her digestion seems to be sorted out. We still have her on antibiotics and immune system boosters, and she has about 10 times the energy she did before.

I haven't been around a tiny kitten since adopting my 17-y-o at 8 weeks. It's blowing my mind how fast she grows! I'll come to see her after she sleeps off her last meal, and her tail will have sprouted an inch or her ears will be doubled in size. Her face is also beginning to get less babyish. Yesterday I found out she has her molars (ouch!).

She also started eating solid food pretty much instantly. She likes formula too, but we've stopped giving it to her in a dropper. She can lap it up on her own. She vacuums up solid food like a mini hoover.

We are trying the plastic straws to keep her from chomping our fingers. Thanks or the tip! Setting her down whenever she gets rough seems to work. She gets anxious when we set her down... Since we have the opportunity to raise this kitten so early, we want to raise the cuddliest, most well-behaved kitten we can.

She's crazy about pretty much any toy we give her :)

Vesper, our senior cat, seems to be over her fear of the kitten. Now she hovers by the bathroom door whenever anyone goes in there. She isn't acting aggressive at all, just curious. Of course it will be a little while before they meet (once kitten gets her tests back...) but we are probably going to start letting Mina out on field trips when Vesper is shut up in the bathroom. We'll see what Vesper thinks of that ;)

Here are some photos of her playing with a paper bag. I also think I'm starting to see yellow eyes emerging from behind the blue.

  13. Mina has a white dot on her chest, a bigger white spot between her front legs and a big spot on her belly. It's like a snowman. The white spots are getting bigger as more fur grows in...

  15. Mina looks adorable. You have taken some really great photos of her. Treether you seem to be doing a great job with her. Mina looks just like my Whiskers looked like around 6 weeks of age (but smaller). My Whiskers didn't have white though but had some faint stripes on her tail when it fully developed.

Congrats on the new addition to your furr family!

  16. Hi,
To keep your kitten healthy just change their eating habit and look after them properly.

  17. Mina says "thanks!" for all the compliments. She is also wondering if being constipated is normal for kittens. I'm going to get her cat laxatives tomorrow morning, because it's been going on 2 days since her last poo and she's been squealing in the litterbox with no results :(

Otherwise, she's gotten chubby and very energetic! She's learning new things every day.

One thing I am worried about is that she seems pretty wobbly in her back legs and they fold under her a lot. She seems like she has so much more strength in her front legs. Think it's because she is still young? Someone earlier mentioned she might have wobbly kitten syndrome?

Latest pics! She's not a baby anymore!!

  18. Treether, she's still sooo little, and soooo cute! You might want to call the vet about the 'poo' problem ~ she's a little young to be squealing in the litter box.... Don't know about the 'wobbly' thing; after all she is still young....
Your pics of her are so good, have you submitted them to our Kitten Master for a spot as the Daily Kitten? Mina is a perfect candidate!!

Posted 8 months ago by kittymom #

  19. Oh stop! You are killing me with cuteness! I think you MUST submit her for the honor of "daily kitten"! You must be a real pro with the camera, those are beautiful pictures of Mina. Keep em' coming, we love our babies. Thanks for saving her little preciousness! Such a cutie!

  20. I do love her little round belly that is filling out!

    Posted 8 months ago by mollycat71 #

  21. I totally submitted her to daily kitten! The kitten today (Ninjie) is soooooo cute!!

Kittymom, I will definitely call the vet before I go buy her medicine tomorrow. I am wondering if we weaned her too fast, when she was eating formula and wet food her poops were perfect.

  22. <---votes for Mina for "Daily Kitten" MINA! MINA! MINA!

  23. OMG, you Must submit the one with the feather toy to the Kittenmaster for TDK. She is sooooo adorable. You have done an amazing job with this baby.
BTW, I hope you know what the white on her chest is...it's where the angels kissed her!

Posted 8 months ago by Tigerlilly #

  24. TL, how sweet! My Betty has a little white patch on her tum tum that she only lets meow-my see when she is needing belly rubs! I have to remember an angel kissed her there!

  25. I've only just caught up with this thread. Welcome to TDK, Treether! I went and had a look at all the wonderful photos of Mina in one go, and I am just now coming round after going into a dead faint from cuteness overload! Mina is a beautiful baby and looks full of mischief too. What a sweet little fuzz ball.

Treether, your photos are really amazing - truly wonderful!
