Bones is OK, eating better, but of course it's the illegal food...Mum? Well, that's another story. I was due to pick her up this afternoon to come and see him (I'm trying to get her to see him as much as possible if he only has a few more months with us) - but this morning she rings and says she can't go anywhere because she's slipped into a bad depression...her timing is impecabble, as if the too much work / not getting paid / continuing neck & shoulder problems weren't enough...and this afternoon I have an overdue appointment with my doctor (had to cancel the last one as it was when Mary died) to discuss me trying to reduce my anti-depressant dose again...oh bloody hell!

Good morning, all!
I'm off to team practice in 10 minutes. After that two of the ladies on the team and I are going to meet with a pro at another tennis club in town to talk about moving our team over there next season.
Today is also my first day of dog-sitting for a lady on my tennis team. She'll be back on Sunday. I havn't had any dog-sitting in over a month (haven't had time anyway), so I'm glad to have this and hope it picks up again soon.MCW, sounds like you have too much on your plate. I'm sorry! ((Hugs))

Morning, all!
Ann, good luck with your job interview! Keeping paws and fingers crossed.
{{{MCW}}} I don't know what to suggest about the not getting paid situation, but grrrrr. Want me to sic George on them? I can totally relate to the "too much on my plate right now" feeling; I've had one of my evil headaches for going on 2 weeks, work is nuts, I'm trying to organize our UK trip (now mostly done, thank goodness), plus there are taxes to do and general household junk -argh!
Um, sorry, not sure where all *that* came from.
It's back to work for me. Hugs to all who need them.
-
MCW, yes, definitely stop work if they haven't paid you for February. No sense in giving it for free. Katthays, I love the visual of Tigger with his paw as the exact moment the spoon of yogurt went into your daughter's mouth. That had to be such a classic moment! So funny too!! CM, how are the girls feeling today? Hopefully you are all doing much better. MC, have fun meeting KW! I hope to meet her one day myself. Anncetera, good luck on the job interview. Pika I am sorry you are going through the job change. Definitely check out temp agencies. They have helped me with filling in temp jobs while I searched for a permanent job. I have been through becoming redundant and it was at Christmast time too! Thank you very much indeed!
It is a another cold morning with temps in the high 30's. It should get up to low 60's by this afternoon though.
This morning I was eating a breakfast burrito from Mickey D's (I didn't have time for dinner last night with meeting up with a couple of friends for drinks and running around a bit) and wouldn't you know it a bit of cheese manages to drop right onto the left side of my shirt at chest level. I couldn't even start the day without getting some food on me. Now I get to walk around all day with this nice bright stain on my shirt. Once I get home I will some stain buster stuff on it. Oh well.

Good morning, Everyone! *runs around dispensing hugs*
We actually slept late this morning and so I feel like maybe I've caught up on all of the sleep that I lost this weekend. And - it's overcast and we have a 50% chance of rain. We need it so desperately that later I'm going to don my rain dance costume and wander outside.

Today is a super busy day. I woke up early and went to the bank to try to fight the double rent charge. After that I went to my first class. Then I had to very quickly run to Taco's vet to pick up his prescription food and some new medicine because we ran out last night. After that I ran straight to work and was almost late. I'm here now. Fortunately he is napping so I have a little bit of time to relax, play online a bit, and finish up my homework. Right after work I go straight back to school at 5 and have class until 8:30. After that it's home to make dinner!

WOO HOO!! PRAISE the power of TDK, after moaning earlier about appling for loads of jobs and no responses, I have just had a call about a job interview on Tuesday!!!! its something completely different to what i am doing now, but a change is as good as a rest as they say!! I currently am in HR and recruitment (should be able to recruit myself into a job, lol, but its slightly different as we are based at BT on their contract and they are laying off and not recruiting hence the redundancy) The job is woring as a sales advisor for a clothing company called Ted Baker in a department store (House of Fraser)
MCW I am already abusing the work facilities, telephone, internet, and copier for CV's!! If i treated my employees the way my managers have treated me I would be up into a disciplinary hearing. -
Hey ho, back from Mum's and the doctors. Mum is not very good at all, and has an upset stomach / diarrhoea to boot. I've spoken to her CPN (community psychiatric nurse) who'd popping in to see her tomorrow, and will almost certainly authorise an increase in medication to try and kick start an improvement in her mental state.
As for me - well, I have a very good, understanding dr. He doesn't think know is a "good time" (ah, the power of the understatement!) to adjust my meds, so we stay as we are for now. Trouble is, will there ever be a good time? I just don't seem to deal with everyday stress as well as I used to, and just one thing over and above the norm seems to unbalance me. Phooey.
And yes, you're all probably right about the not doing any more extra hours, but in the end, I'd only be shooting myself in the foot, and leaving myself even less time to catch up. I know I will be paid, but it's a small family business, which lives very much hand to mouth, and Jan/Feb are very lean months. We're now getting into the start of our busy time, so things will ease up, but I won't be doing my stress levels any good if I don't keep going on the extra hours. Catch 22? Phooey again.
Pika, that's great new about the interview - fingers and paws crossed for you too.
Kilroy you have my sympathy, long term headaches are no fun. You need a break! - how lucky you're about to have one!

{{{{{{{{{MCW}}}}}}}}} I'm so sorry to hear about Mum! I know that when I was dealing with my father's mental issues it just almost made me want to steal his medication and take it myself. I would tell you to just sit down, get out a good book and have a nice martini. But since you don't drink martinis, I guess I'll change that to a hot whatever that berry drink is!
I wish that I could come whisk you away!! We could just sit and (as a good friend of mine always used to say) "talk and laugh".
We all need to laugh more, right?

So I've been searching the internet for something to make MCW laugh - and anyone else who needs to smile. I found this, but don't ask me where because I've been to so many sites!
Keeping Fit.
I read in this morning's paper that fat and flabby cats tend to be unhealthy cats. Thought it would be a good time to get healthy.
First eat from the three food groups: Mice, grass, and kitty treats. If you can't find enough of the first two, bulk up on the third group. A well balanced diet will leave you feeling full...And more able to take your morning, mid-day, and afternoon cat-naps.
Next, work out. Exercise is key to kitty fitness. I follow the regimen of Arnold Schwarzentabby:
It is important to start every cat exercise with a stretch. Preferably placing claws on the fabric of the couch or into the expensive leather chair. Never forget to stretch. A new couch or chair an owner can buy, a new cat like you is impossible.
I start each and every morning working on the "stair climber." If you don't have a "stair climber" machine, a human will do. While in bed, climb up and down your human, pausing to look into his or her face before climbing down again. Repeat the process until the human wakes up. Adding a touch a drool on one of the visits to the face is good. A human face makes a good spittoon during kitty exercise.
Next, running. Always good exercise. Do not run outside. It is unfamiliar territory and you could get hurt by a car. Run in the house. As fast as you can. Digging claws into the carpet around sharp corners is good for kitty leg muscles. A good run is when a human cannot actually see you, but only hear the sound of the carpet being torn as you race by.
Finally...Don't forget the cool-down period. This consists of a long period of inactivity. Resist the temptation to get up and do something. You do not want to injure yourself and make yourself useless to your owner. In fact, this is such an important part of the regimen, that you can skip the first three suggestions and go right to this one. I do it every day and I am a healthy cat. It was a good day.

What's this I see??? Still not laughing?
A Cat`s Guide to Human Beings.
1. Introduction: Why Do We Need Humans?
So you've decided to get yourself a human being. In doing so, you've joined the millions of other cats who have acquired these strange and often frustrating creatures. There will be any number of times, during the course of your association with humans, when you will wonder why you have bothered to grace them with your presence. What's so great about humans, anyway? Why not just hang around with other cats? Our greatest philosophers have struggled with this question for centuries, but the answer is actually rather simple: THEY HAVE OPPOSABLE THUMBS. Which makes them the perfect tools for such tasks as opening doors, getting the lids off of cat food cans, changing television stations and other activities that we, despite our other obvious advantages, find difficult to do ourselves. True, chimps, orangutans and lemurs also have opposable thumbs, but they are nowhere as easy to train.
2. How And When to Get Your Human's Attention
Humans often erroneously assume that there are other, more important activities than taking care of your immediate needs, such as conducting business, spending time with their families or even sleeping. Though this is dreadfully inconvenient, you can make this work to your advantage by pestering your human at the moment it is the busiest. It is usually so flustered that it will do whatever you want it to do, just to get you out of its hair. Not coincidentally, human teenagers follow this same practice. Here are some tried and true methods of getting your human to do what you want:
Sitting on paper: An oldie but a goodie. If a human has paper in front of it, chances are good it's something they assume is more important than you. They will often offer you a snack to lure you away. Establish your supremacy over this wood pulp product at every opportunity. This practice also works well with computer keyboards, remote controls, car keys and small children.
Waking your human at odd hours: A cat's "golden time" is between 3:30 and 4:30 in the morning. If you paw at your human's sleeping face during this time, you have a better than even chance that it will get up and, in an incoherent haze, do exactly what you want. You may actually have to scratch deep sleepers to get their attention; remember to vary the scratch site to keep the human from getting suspicious.3. Punishing Your Human Being.
Sometimes, despite your best training efforts, your human will stubbornly resist bending to your whim. In these extreme circumstances, you may have to punish your human. Obvious punishments, such as scratching furniture or eating household plants, are likely to backfire; the unsophisticated humans are likely to misinterpret the activities and then try to discipline YOU. Instead, we offer these subtle but nonetheless effective alternatives:
Use the cat box during an important formal dinner.
Stare impassively at your human while it is attempting a romantic interlude.
Stand over an important piece of electronic equipment and feign a hairball attack.
After your human has watched a particularly disturbing horror film, standby the hall closet and then slowly back away, hissing and yowling.
While your human is sleeping, lie on its face.4. Rewarding Your Human: Should Your Gift Still Be Alive?
The cat world is divided over the etiquette of presenting humans with the thoughtful gift of a recently disemboweled animal. Some believe that humans prefer these gifts already dead, while others maintain that humans enjoy a slowly expiring cricket or rodent just as much as we do, given their jumpy and playful movements in picking the creatures up after they've been presented. After much consideration of the human psyche, we recommend the following:
Cold blooded animals (large insects, frogs, lizards, garden snakes and the occasional earthworm) should be presented dead
Warm blooded animals (birds, rodents, your neighbor's Pomeranian) are better still living.
When you see the expression on your human's face, you'll know it's worth it.5. How Long Should You Keep Your Human?
You are only obligated to your human for one of your lives. The other eight are up to you. We recommend mixing and matching, though in the end, most humans (at least the ones that are worth living with) are pretty much the same. But what do you expect? They're humans, after all. Opposable thumbs will only take you so far.Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

2. They rarely listen to you.
3. They're totally unpredictable.
4. When you want to play, they want to be alone.
5. When you want to be alone, they want to play.
6. They expect you to cater to their every whim.
7. They're moody.
8. They leave hair everywhere.CONCLUSION: They're tiny women in little fur coats.

Things You Can Learn From Your Cat
Make the world your playground.
Whenever you miss the sandbox, cover it up. Dragging a sock over it helps.
If you can't get your way, lay across the keyboard until you do.
When you are hungry, meow loudly so they feed you just to shut you up.
Always find a good patch of sun to nap in.
Nap often. When in trouble, just purr and look cute.
Variety is the spice of Life. One day, ignore people; the next day, annoy them.
Climb your way to the top, that's why the curtains are there.
Make your mark in the world, or at least spray in each corner.
Always give generously; a bird or rodent left on the bed tells them, "I care."
When you have something important to say, try to say it in the dead of night when you're SURE everyone's sleeping. There's no better way to get the attention you deserve.

Well, not the shaker, Dee. But maybe I'll switch from martinis to margaritas! Or just add extra olives to my martini!
