  3. Hey everyone. I am really busy at work and not on much until it slows down. I miss you all!

Oh yeah and I woke up with a sore throat this morning. For the Brits out there, I am sucking on Strepsils that I get at Boots. They are awesome, but I am on my last box! Much tastier than gargling salt water.

  5. Are you feeling better now, MCW? :-)

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  6. A bit flat to be honest WWM, but better than I was. I haven't done any more work this evening, have spent it curled up (sometimes with, sometimes without a passing cat) in front of the TV. Will be having an early one tonight methinks.

  7. ((MCW)) If you need to talk, you know where to find me :)

Kykat, I LOVE Boots!!! I went there when I had a cold and I loved their stuff. Especially the tissue.

  8. MCW, I have sent you an email. Thank you so much!!!!! I am not sure what makes the strepsils so much better than what we have here, but I have sworn by them since 2000 when they saved me on a trip to London and Ireland. Since then, I buy them anytime I am out of the country and see them. Let me know if there is a US treat that I can send you!

CM the tissues are good too. Of course the REAL Cadbury chocolates from England are the best. Now I am drooling thinking of Cadbury Tiffin bars......

  9. Now look, I've manfully avoided comfort eating all day, but if you're going to talk Cadburys...

Received email Kykat, and replied! :o)

  10. Actually, MCW, I think that a bit of chocolate is exactly what you need!

  12. What is in the Strepsils??? Is it just a soothing lozenge?

Posted 3 years ago by katthays #

  13. Katt, they are anitbacterial so they actually help to treat the source of the pain. I am very allergic to pollen so spring kills me. I am sitting here at work with a box of Strepsils that came from Hungary so I can't read the ingredient list to tell you everything about it, but they are the best little things. In 2000 I did a trip to London and Ireland with a friend and caught "something" on the flight and felt miserable when I got off the plane. I popped into a Boots and got a couple of packs of strepsils and a box of tissue and thought I was going to have a miserable trip. By the next day I felt a ton better. On my way back to the states, I bought several boxes at the airport to take home. Now whenever I travel abroad, I always look to see if they can be found and bring several boxes home. Boots should pay me for testimonials!!!!!

  21. I used to get Strepsils in Denmark - worked great!

I had a bad team practice today, but a good meeting with the pro at the other club afterwards. Then I went to the dog-sitting house to find the dog had torn apart a huge trashbag of shredded paper - there was shredded paper all over the office!!!!
I'm at work now and it's slow. Just spoke to XBF who's depressed. I feel bad, but I don't know what to do to help him.

One more thing - a friend of mine told me the dentist and his wife (I think she's mad at me for not wanting to clean the office anymore so I haven't spoken to her) found someone new to clean the office: Their 16 or 17 year-old son!!! I wouldn't generally care, but I know this kid and he's going to resent the fact that he now has to clean there for pocket money after always getting what he wants without working or doing anything. I'm certain he won't do a good job. My problem is this: I'm going to the dentist next week!!!!!! Maybe this isn't that bad, but shouldn't the office be sanitized properly for the sake of the patients? Or am I making too much of this?

  22. GD, I can understand your worry about this. You could always jokingly but being serious ask the dentist how his son is cleaning the office..does he sterlize things like he is supposed to...That one is hard to call.

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  23. Yep, I know! I'm sure the kid will tell his dad that he's doing whatever he's supposed to when cleaning, but he's a 16 year old boy - what does he care?
I'm not too thrilled about germs - not crazy, but I still think about what I touch and wash my hands incessantly. Another thing that was bothering me while cleaning the office was that the hygienist leaves mouthwash in a cup sitting there all weekend ready for the first patient on Monday morning. I'm never booking the first appointment on Monday morning and getting three-day old, dusty mouthwash - who knows what kind of cleaning products got sprayed into or around that on Sunday?
    Yuck!

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  24. That is nasty! just wrong

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  25. Ewwwwwww GD.

Posted 3 years ago by HuddysMama #

  26. Right? I'm glad you agree - I was wondering if maybe it was just me, being in a bad mood because I was cleaning, when I saw that cup every week!
I'm glad I can't make the cleaning I have scheduled for Friday, but now I may postpone it a bit and not go next week.
The other thing is that I really don't want to see the dentist. I havent seen him since he left my friend at Christmas. He later moved back home, but they're still having issues and it'll be awkward.

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  27. GD, this is just me as a nurse. BUT..... everything in any medical office should be sanitized after each and every patient. The fact that you aren't cleaning there on Sunday has no bearing. What if you clean on Sunday, and a patient comes on Monday who has an infectious disease? Does the staff at the office not clean? Would nothing be cleaned until the following Sunday? Do you see what I'm saying? If his staff doesn't clean after every single patient... you want another dentist.
