When I got Sylvester as a kitten I noticed that he wasn't in the habit much of cleaning himself. He does clean himself after he uses the litter box and sometimes he cleans his face after he eats (just not everytime or maybe I don't see him do it) but after his last vet visit it has come apparent that he isn't reaching the fur near the base of his tail. The fur has become oily and he has white flecks now. The vet says he has a skin condition now. I tried washing him with some kitty wipes last night but they didn't do anything and in fact made the white flecks appear more. His fur still felt oily so I don't think the kitty wipes were enough to clean. I am guessing I will have to get a wash cloth and some natural pet soap and wash him with soap and water? He is going to be so mad at me after I do that and I am concerned he will become afraid of the bathroom sink.
Does anyone have suggestions for helping Sylvester with keeping his fur clean near the base of his tail?
