  1. at the door?? Whenever someone comes up the drive and to the door, they are at the door to greet them. I have had so many comments I think it might be a bit unusual (?), I thought all cats did this.

  3. Mine only greets BF and I. He hides for anyone else lol

  4. Maverick not only greets everybody, if they have a bag, or tools, or a purse he goes to investigate whatever it is as soon as they set it down somewhere. He escorted the cable guy all over my apartment when I first got my cable hooked up after I moved. I thought about getting an itty bitty WalMart vest to put on him.

  5. NorthernLilly....was admiring your beautiful orangie, then saw you are from NH....we lived in Durham, Manchester and Hooksett at one time.....LOVED it and miss it alot! Sorry, to get off on this tangent! My Gizmo does greet us sometimes...and sometimes he never gets off the bed! Depends on how long we are gone....I have had cats that greet everyone...just depends on their personalities, I guess!

  6. Lol, HM...what a hoot!

  7. I can't say it's a "friendly" greeting, but when someones comes in, Cuddles comes in the room to sniff them, growl & hiss.... then "turns tail" and struts back up stairs..... most people just don't know what to make of her! I think she's saying "leave NOW" before things get ugly!

  8. What a diva she is!

  9. Mine run to hide under the bed. Sylvester will come back out if he thinks you are safe enough but not Mia.

  10. Only Goober and Leggs....the rest run and hide! Goober is the in your face cat that will make you love him. The worst thing to do is ignore Goober...you will regret it. He will sit on your head to get your attention if he has to!

  11. My late 'Cowboy' did.(RIP Cowboy) If they were male, even more so. His previous owner who abandoned him was male.
My Winnie (paper wad fetcher) will greet anyone (on 2 legs).

JF...with all you've told us of Elija Blue,it doesn't surprise me that he's a people person. I've never met him, but, I've loved him from the first time I saw his pic & read his name. He captured my heart long ago. :)

I have to add that my Binky, being 14 yrs.old & going blind is starting to accept company, but, I think it's because he can't really see them anymore. Poor guy.

  12. I thought my guys always ran and hid until Bobby's friend Ellen stopped by last week. Mi ran and hid but Bobby saw her and came running to her. I've never seen him do that to people other than myself and my brother when he was visiting.

  13. I catsit three kitties. The girl kitty stares in horror at her brothers while they pull me to the floor apon arrival. One of them purrs and headbonks me while the other goes and gets bootlaces and feathersticks. Then they insist on playtime. It's quite a greeting.

  14. XBF's Misty used to greet me when I cam over. Lots of purrs, head bonking and drooling! Then of course I'd go find her treats :)

  15. I had to put Bosley in the bedroom while the maintenance guy (Bill) was fixing my leaky kitchen sink. Bosley (God love him) met him at the door and sat up like a dog. When Bill was on his back and underneath my sink, Bosley began walking on the poor man's chest. Luckily, Bill likes him and got a laugh out of it. Now, I always get a note stuck on my door giving me 24 hrs. notice that they need to come in to fix something. What's ironic is that the dog is fine, but Bosley goes crazy.

  16. Awwww Bosley :)

  17. Even, my male indoors, always greets visitors. The females generally run & hide. Of the outdoor cats, Bert usually greets visitors on the front walkway or front porch.

  18. Willow checks out any visitors and then decides if she will grace them with her presence. My poor little Windi runs under the bed in the guest room at the first "ding" of the doorbell. :-(

  19. Hell no! My mom said there is a reason they have "pet shrinks" and Betty and Wilma are it! They are so scared of everybody but meow-my its ridiculous! I was of course, shocked one summer day last summer to walk in the living room to find the UPS man on my porch talking thru the window to the girls who were sitting on the ledge. I wonder if it is a show............... HM, I want to see your baby in his WalMart vest, that would be a world class pix!

  20. My Bobbiesue greets people and explores their belongings then asks for pets, the others are more wary. Jasper hides very well at any hint of a stranger.

  21. Gem and Nora are sociable, although they don't really greet at the door. Nibs on the other hand is my phantom cat; no one ever sees her except me.

My two funniest were Jerrie and RT. Jerrie would actually RUN to the door to greet everyone, he was always first in line. RT, who was a very smart girl, was also very shy. She had figured out that people coming to the door were always preceeded by a vehicle driving down the street. As soon as she heard a vehicle approaching, she would go sit by the front door - where the steps to the basement are. If no one came up the walk, she was fine. If someone came up the walk, she was downstairs hiding long before they got to the door. A few times she did get messed up by people who didn't come in a car, and then we would see a grey streak go by as she raced for the basement. She also immediately knew when people left. She would be out of hiding within 30 seconds.

  22. Feral ......did I tell you he plays a mean game of fetch ? will play for hours ...........i put some more pics of my little man on flickr for you to see :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/33883760@N06/?photo_deleted=3309951506

  23. George loves visitors and will poke his nose into people's bags if they leave them lying around. He loves the maintenance guy who comes if we need anything fixed, and makes sure to supervise him closely (luckily Victor is a cat lover).

  24. JF...Elija is adorable & so is his facial expressions. I love the shot of him laying lazy in the sun. It shows off his beautiful coloring. :)

  25. My kitties scatter like raindrops when strangers approach. They are especially terrified of my granddaughter who adores the kitties. Eventually Sis will come up to her for pets, but not right away.

  26. My dog in disguise Mickey readily greets everyone at the door. Romeo and Athena are learning from him. All others hide whenever the doorbell rings.

Posted 2 years ago by Tigerlilly #

  27. Mac and Grommie will greet me when I come in thru the garage door into the house. I think they must hear the door opening for the car, so they know mom is home. When the front doorbell rings, they run halfway upstairs to the landing, stop, and watch to see who is at the door before they decide whether to continue upstairs or come on back down.... they really aren't too fond of strangers.

Posted 2 years ago by kittymom #

  28. Kitty is my greeter at the front door, and he along with Lil Girl sit in the window so they see my car as soon as I pull towards the garage they beat feet to the door to wait for me. All the neighbors love to see them watching everyone out the front living room window. The rest aren't too keen on strangers and take off for hiding places. They do all hate the doorbell as much as I do.

  29. Both Angie and Chuck go into hiding when someone comes into the apartment. They won't even let me pick them up until the intruder is gone. Same deal when I take them to my parents. It's like I'm a stranger to them when we're at my parents house.

  30. Shadz disappears whenever someone knocks at the door. On the odd occasion she stays she will treat them with total disdain, won't even look at them. It was a good sign that she actually looked at Meegz new man friend, but he does have a cat of his own.
