  1. Libby quietly melts into the ether and doesn't reappear until any visitors have gone (sometimes long gone). If we're both caught by surprise by an unexpected knock at the door, and she's in the beanbag, she'll run up the hall to somewhere safe, then run out of the front door again as soon as I've shown the visitor into the living room. Libby even runs away from my mum, who's known her since she was a kitten and comes to stay often. I now call her 'Scary Grandma'!

Jasper, on the other hand, sits on the couch on the verandah and looks everyone up and down, who comes to the door. He's anybody's for a quick pat!

  2. Redford is our official greeter. He will walk quietly in , sniff coats and purses, get his pets and then settle down to listen to the conversation. Mitzi will come out if the guest is female-if it is male, she will never deign to grace us with her presence. (She was teased by a friends son when I lived with her for several months, and decided that males were NOT to her liking.) She does love Victor, though--she has good taste!

  3. Hootie *RIP* would hear the car when I came home from work and would be on the landing on the first floor for a tummy rub. It didn't take him long to get into that routine. However, he wasn't the greeter that S&O are. I have enjoyed reading your kitties responses to the question. JCat, your Jasper sounds like S&O too!

  4. Both Pickle & Button recognise the sound of my car, and come to greet me if they're out when I get home. As for visitors, Pickle miaows VERY loudly and lots at any visitors, the others really aren't that fussed!

  5. When Calvin and Ed hear someone on the front porch, they run upstairs as if their tails are on fire. Ed usually reappears a few minutes later, but Calvin is shy and will hide until the person leaves. Sophie runs to the door and carefully inspects each visitor, then prances around in front of them for the entire length of their visit.
