Night shift on triscadecaphobics' favourite day

  2. Ooh, I'm very fond of beetroot too. My mum does lovely beetroot in jars in the microwave... Not so keen on it grated raw in salads, though I know it's good for you...

    That's a shame about the garden centres, MS. Have you tried mail order? Kings seeds maybe or Koanga (they do heritage veg and fruit seeds) or Incredible Edibles? I'm sure one of them would have kohl rabi. But seedlings do give you a head start!

  4. I just started looking today, last year we got seedling but kohl rabi is one of those plants that don't really like being transplanted and are better grown from seed. I've tried 3 garden centres today and will try more tomorrow but I can't even see it mentioned on the Yates list this year. I hope Kings have them.
    Deb, he and his friend caught about 12 reasonable fish between them, no prizes for big fish but he got several prizes in the draw. Tomorrow I have the job of smoking 3 fish and I'm going to include Earl Grey tea leaves to see if I can get the lovely taste of the tea into the fish. Shadz will be his very 'bestest' friend when Mr MS is filleting the fish. She's such a 'suck up'.

  10. I'm heading off too Jcat. i'll see if I can remember how to close up the Night Shift tonight. See you tomorrow. I hope to see Airy on tomorrow, she is on a road trip with an old school friend, they have already made one wish come true, they drove to Las Vegas a couple of days ago, stayed the night, had a wee gamble and drove back to LA. Now they have driven up the coast to San Francisco to look around for a few days.

It's midnight NZ time, ...the night is cool in NZ(autumn is here) and definitely cold or at least chilly in USA with Old Man Winter very comfortable..... so time to close Night Shift and snuggle under the comforters, so here goes gratis AZDEBRA, LV, & Tigger begin....good job everyone & bless you...

    check - turns fountains off
    check - sweep the floor (never know who has been tossing stuff around)
    check - lights off and turns out neon "TDK Night-Shift" and "Poetry Jam" sign in window
    check - night lights glowing gently, puts on cool jazz radio for ambiance and stragglers check - cat flaps swings creeeeeeeek (pulls out WD-40), check cat flaps again to ensure they swing quietly and effortlessly
    check - doors closed, left just ajar so fuzzbutts don't come to us with complaints
    check - dry kibble out as a midnight snack (so hopefully no 5 am breakfast wake-up call) and freshens litter-box. Puts away assorted fuzzy, squeaky cat-toys into Toy-Box

    check - windows shut for Northern TDKers and slighlty ajar for Southern TDKers.

    Goodnight to all our imaginary friends in TDK land, Goodnight Airy and Jim-man. White light,healing energy and prayer for all those in need.

  14. I hope to be on tomorrow sometime but after weeks of fishing competitions Mr MS has plenty of jobs to do around the place and someone has to supervise him. Night
