  8. Shopping! My favorite pasttime!

Supposed to be near 70 here in SW Michigan too. I'm going to my favorite Indian buffet for lunch today. I haven't been there since December of last year, and I am SO jonesing for it.

We did corned beef and cabbage on Sunday, Reuben sammies are on the dinner ticket tonight. I tried cooking the cabbage, taters, and carrots in the pressure cooker, after the corned beef was almost done, but it gave me so much GAS that I won't do that again (lol). It was a lot easier on my system to cook the veggies separate from the corned beef. Less rich...

  9. Sio, YUM, Reubens, corned beef and cabbage...even with the gas :)))

  10. Good Green Morning to all! ......I don't really wear green a lot, so I guess I'll go raid daughters' closet for something to wear..... LOL....

I'd love some "green eggs" and ham if you please ;)

  11. Morning, all!

Hubby and I did corned beef & cabbage last night; if I were a good Irishman's wife I would have baked him some soda bread, but I'm not much of a baker.

Hubby's all excited because the Irish government may be relaxing the requirements for citizenship; right now you have to have Irish parents or grandparents to qualify, but they may push it back to great-grands, and he would qualify. Who knows, we may get that little cottage by the sea after all :)

I'm enjoying my week off from work so far, although I'm sure by Friday I'll be a little stir crazy.

    Happy Tuesday, all.

  12. Hey all. I'm currently on the couch trying to wake up for school. I hate waking up when the sun hasn't risen yet. But I give myself enough time to sit around for a little bit and still get to school in time.

It was supposed to rain the last few days, but all we got were a few sprinkles. It's been kind of chilly, but warmer than the last few weeks, and the trees' flowers are bloooooming. That also means I'll be sneeeeezing!!

I sold a non-custom bag last night. I posted my website on Craigslist and someone was interested in the striped/checkered purse I made recently. She stopped by my work to pick it up, and asked if she could email me for some birthday gifts in the future. Woo!

Thursday is my 2 year anniversary with my boyfriend. We've had some issues in the past, but we try to work them out the best we can. At least we're back on good terms, I hate when we're not talking. We're still planning on going to Santa Cruz this Saturday. I'm pretty excited about that. And I'm pretty sure we're going out to dinner Thursday. I have gifts coming in the mail for him, but want to give him something little on Thursday, just to say that I didn't forget. Any ideas?

  13. Top O the Mornin' to ye all! I have Irish ancestry on both sides and have been to Ireland a couple of times. I have brought Soda bread, Irish Breakfast Tea and a traditional Irish breakfast of eggs, black and white pudding, bacon, grilled mushrooms and grilled tomatoes.

I hope everyone has a great day!

  14. Hey JYM, way to go on craigs list! Something for BF? Something you could make for him? Hi All! Top 'o the morn to ya! I recently found out I am part irish on my father's side. His father came from Ireland and his mom from England. Soooo, I guess I will really celebrate! Don't really have anything irish green, ABS, I am wearing sort of a hot lime green top with orange and green shorts. Really stands out! Oh yes, with my DOT sneakers (dept of transportation yellow). Think I'll go ride my bike! Ciao!

  15. Everyone has a little bit of Irish in them today! Tonight I am going out for dinner and we are NOT going Irish - we are going Thai (new place in town that we have not tried yet).

I always giggle when I think of my 21st birthday. My friends made a really great cake, in the shape of a shamrock. The icing was GREEN - made from the dye that you use in decoration icing. Our mouths stayed green for a long time after we ate that cake!

  16. NNGM, ooooh Thai. I love Thai. If they have Tom Yam Goong soup on the menu, definitely have a bowl for me! It is a spicy broth-based soup with shrimp. MMMMMM.

  19. I have choir tonight so I may be making a stop in at McAllister's Deli for a Rueben. Unfortunately no Irish pubs in my town for a quick half-pint of Bulmer's Hard Cider.

  21. happy st paddy's to everyone !! both my grandmother's were irish !! family came from county cork to ellis island. my grandfather's were both french canadian , so we spoke french growing up. we can all sing " when irish eyes are smiling all the world seems bright and gay, when irish eyes are smiling you can hear the angels sing".. that song reminds me of my grandmother's. i grew up in upstate NY and my dad loved st paddy's day . we always had green hats and shamrocks... one year as a joke to my mom , when we were babies , he used food coloring and colored our bums green. she went to change our diapers and she said she laughed all day... lol...my dad is a great guy !!

Posted 2 years ago by beth #

  22. Beth, i can imagine you mom really chuckling at your green bums all day long! I keep chuckling too! Happy St P's day all, I wish we had some parades here for the day!!

  23. Hi, Everybody! Well, my great grandmother's family on my mom's side were all Irish. The name was Lacey. I always thought that if I had ever had a little girl, I would have named her either Lacey or Mahala, which was my grandmother's name.

Is salmon Irish? Because that's what we're having. I will throw in a potato, just for good luck!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  24. we are having salmon tonight too , yup it must be irish !! lol... my irish geneaology names are slattery, cooney, bligh, mc fadden, and there's more i just can't remember them all. WWM i wish i would thought of the first name lacy for one of my girls.. that is so pretty. that was the last name of your irish ancestory?

Posted 2 years ago by beth #

  25. Yes, Beth - Lacey is the last name. My great grandmother and grandmother both were named Mary Mahala. I have always loved the sound of those two names together. They both had those startling Irish blue eyes. Sadly, I got the chocolate brown Texas eyes. :-( My husband says that all native Texans have brown eyes because if we don't, we are at least a quart low.......

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  26. my grandmother's both had very blue eyes and reddish / blonde hair. my sister and i have tow head blonde hair and blue eyes my brother is dark hair and black eyes like my french grandfathers. i love your grandmother's name mary mahala sounds beautiful, i bet she had those irish eyes that look right through you. my granmother's did, oh your last name is lacy thats irish for sure. my madien name is girard the french spelling. my grandmother's madien name was tabor , and the other slattery and then judge.

i just love geneaology... thats my hobby.... i could spend all day doing geneaology... the heck with the washing.... let me hang out at rootsweb.com !! lol

Posted 2 years ago by beth #

  27. I really enjoy genealogy, too. For the longest time I thought that my Scots roots were through the Irish Lacey's and that the clan would be McDonald. But last year I found a man in California who has done an enormous amount of research on my great grandfathers family and I now have documentation back to the 1600's in Scotland. And it isn't Clan McDonald at all - I am Clan Wallace!

Thank heavens I could never find yardage of the McDonald tartan last year when we were in Scotland. I would have to sell it on eBay!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  28. wwm that is so interesting. the clan wallace have you ever seen the family crest or the tartan for wallace? i had a pt from edinburgh and he gave me a picture of his birthpalce. i meet him in the grocery store every now and then. i just love rootsweb , i have alot of postings there.
your geneaology is so interesting, i love hearing about it !! thank you for sharing with me !!

Posted 2 years ago by beth #

  29. I have seen the tartan, Beth. Actually, there are two. One is the traditional tartan and is mostly red. The other was a hunting tartan and is blue. I have seen the crest, too. The prominent feature of the crest is a knights arm holding a broad sword.

I have never visited rootsweb - I'll have to do that!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  30. it's very interesting the tartans are different for each clan and occasions. i never knew that. the crest sounds awesome, knights with swords i wonder if that means they worked for th king or something, or they were a warrior clan for the king, interesting.

i do all my geneaology at ancestory.com and post for my family names on the message boards and do get alot of replies. for a fee you can look at census records ectra. i pay monthly and look up alot of geneaology. but there are free services like the message boards. it's easy to use. i love that site !!
