Hi guys! Not to stress you out. Was talking to GD this am around 4:30 CST. She reported pain under her ribs radiating out.(gallbladder?) Also kidney pain. XBF was taking her to the ER. She was a tad scared as she doesn't like docs. Please pray that she will be ok. I won't be on much today as my boss is shadowing me around. Please say a prayer for her. I have asked that she post or XBF post if they admit her to the hospital. Thanks guys! ((((((GD)))))) Bobby and Mi, take care of meow-my!

Awwww, you guys are the best!!!! :)
I didn't sleep at all last night and around 5:00 decided to call XBF to see if he'd take me to the ER. I was lucky and there was no wait at all. They thought it was the kidneys so they did a urinary test, then they thought gall bladder and did an ultrasound. I've never had one before and it hurt because she was pushing in places that hurt. We also did blood tests, x-rays, iv, pain meds etc.
Finally the doctor told me I've got gastrointestinal issues (had no idea) which are causing pain and I'm getting an ulcer! Arrrrrgh! I told XBF this is all his fault for getting me that rotten job at the gym!!! >:-(Anyway, I just got home and was told to take it easy. XBF called EBL and told her I'm not coming to work today or tomorrow. Later he's going to take me grocery shopping for bland food.
My team mates are bothering me about the match I won't be able to get to this morning, but I'm choing to ignore them. The doctor was a woman so that was no fun and since the staff assume XBF was my husband and i was in pain anyway, today was probably not the time to go looking for a handsome doctor. I told them I don't like hospitals and doctors so they let BXF stay with me - for the ultra sound and everything!
Thanks SO much for the prayers and well wishes - you guys are AWESOME!!!!!

GD, first of all, I just found this thread and am so glad that you did go to the ER and that they did tests to try and rule out problems. But, please don't hit me..... you're going to have to give up coffee for a while. I'm hoping that they explained diets when you have a potential ulcer involved. I have had ulcers and the thing that took me to the doctor was the pain after eating. At the time I was drinking gallons of coffee. Now, I know that you have a habit of drinking lots of coffee, which is not always accompanied with food. You can't do that as the acid in the coffee is eating away at the lining of your stomach. Actually, for a while you really shouldn't be drinking anything that is high in acid, or that has lots of caffeine.
Did they put you on something like Prilosec?
I'm so glad that you are home!

The indeed told me no coffee, WWM!!!! And no diet coke, no tea, no mints, no nothing!!! I never eat food with my coffee - the coffee counts as my meal! Or counted - no more coffee for now :(
They put me on Prevacid which I'll go get this afternoon with XBF as well as the darn bland food.
I'm glad to be home, too, and the boys looked happy to see me, too, even after I kept them up all night!
-
Oh, good - then you had already heard that and so hit someone else!!! :-)
You will feel worlds better when you start on the Prevacid. Ulcers hurt! I got to where I was afraid to eat.
Can you have herbal teas? Like chamomile or peppermint? My doctor said that I could drink Postum in the morning since I couldn't have coffee. But that is some nasty stuff!

(((GD))) So sorry about no more coffee, but I am glad that it wasn't something that requires surgery!!!!!

oh GD! Glad it was nothing that needed an operation! Gastrointestinal issues! yuck, you know I am the Queen of those type of problems! when I had to recover from my illness, I too had to eat bland foods.... let me recommend some things: rice, mashed potatoes and noodles - I know, boring, but very easy to digest. Cook them in and flavor them with chicken stock - much easier on the stomach than dairy (butter & milk)...... you need vitamins - cooked squash and carrots are excellent, easily digestible choices that can be cooked soft and mashed.... protein is also needed, but maybe not for a few days..... when you do start eating meats again, beef - like stew or browned ground beef or chicken!..... best of luck and I'm glad you're taking some time off!
-
GD, You had us so worried! I know it's that job at the gym that is giving you ulcers. {{{{GD}}}}} Even though the transition to bland food will not be an easy one, and ulcers can be very painful...but if you follow the doctors instructions you will be fine. I'm glad you are ignoring you tennis team mates...I can't believe that they want you to play after getting back from the ER...Let Bobby and Milo take good care of you, and get lots of rest!
-
Glad to hear you are back, GD! At least they did all those tests and found it was something that can be treated and controlled! That should make you feel somewhat better. It will be hard to change your lifestyle/eating habits...it always is! Just remember to put yourself first and remind yourself that you only have one body and to treat it with TLC :)
-
GD I am so glad you are ok, or at least on the way to getting that way! I just tuned in and the crisis was over before I knew about it. I'm still sending you light and healing energy! Rest well!

Good to hear that they did a complete evaluation and, although annoying and painful, this is something that can be treated and get better. Now rest up and cuddle with your furry boys.

{{GD}}. I am glad that this is a treatable condition. No coffee. That is terrible but Postum is the worst drink in the world! I am sending healing light that maybe soon you can have coffee. Yep, Katt is right take care of that body!

So glad you are back, GD! Any chance of finding another job to get away from that yucky gym? If it gives you ulcers it just isn't worth it. Please take care of yourself-Bobby and Milo need their Meowmy hale and hearty!
