  1. Hi guys! First let me thank you for your patience and understanding about my absence. I have been lurking and praying for those who have had requests, celebrating all the pertinent accomplishments and staying informed in general. My life in the past couple of months has been pretty tough--my son had a bad spell of depression during which he needed my support and Tom has been going wacko with Dr's appointments. We only have one car right now so I have been pretty much housebound. Hate that!! And worst of all, I was going through a major clinical depression and barely had the energy to get out of bed, let alone cope with all of that. Not being able to have Rocky brought that to a head for some reason (I know that depression is not logical and anyway he got a wonderful new forever home!) Now for the good news--I am doing much better. I quit drinking (joined AA), and am receiving the proper medication for the depression along with therapy. All of this has really helped. I feel like I have a reason to get my hiney out of bed in the morning and have a purpose. I could go into a lot of spiritual stuff, but suffice it to say that I am not doing this alone! I love you all and am so happy to be back!

  2. HOORAY FOR SHELLEY!!!!

Ahem, sorry about that. Just had to cheer out loud, so glad you're taking care of yourself. Bravo on doing what you had to do about the drinking, and about everything else. I hope that you will keep feeling better and better, and I believe you will.

  4. Hi Shelley! I'm so glad to see your post. I haven't been able to post as much lately either. What wonderful news - I know other people who suffer from clinical depression and it is awful. Good for you on the AA front - I'm sure you will get a lot of support here. Is Tom's medical condition improving?

  14. Thanks all! NNGM, Tom is feeling better, I forgot to mention that in the midst of everything else, he had to have hernia surgery! He came through that fine, that is what was causing him so much pain. He still goes once a week for a paracentisis and they take anywhere from 6 1/2 to 11 liters of fluid from his abdomen. We are still waiting on the transplant go-ahead. Apparently, they will not even consider him until he gets a clearance from his dentist--he has that now and will take it with him this week. That was the last paperwork he needed from any/all of his doctors. So we should know soon where he falls on the UNOS list, already they already told us he would be very low on the list because he is "not sick enough". Maybe not, but I'm pretty sick of him being sick--lol!

  15. Shelley, I might be a newbie since you more regularly posted but I still want to say: WAY TO GO! I am proud of you for getting your life on the right track! Sometimes just being able to ask for help is the hardest part. You have done that and are heading down the right track. I am really proud of you!!!! Please keep us updated on how you are, if you need anything, or if you just want to brag how well you are coming along! We want to be your "family" and help you any way that we can! :)
