  1. Good morning, all! I'm sorry, but I didn't see that anyone else had already opened this morning's café. There's all kinds of breakfast foods, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, juice, and whatever else your heart desires. There are enough agency kittens to help wake people up and get them moving! We seem to have a number of shorthair and longhair marmalade and ginger kittens this morning...

I will only be able to stick around for a few minutes myself, so please help yourself to the buffet and pet an agency kitty for a moment. My driving test is at 11:00 am... wish me luck! It's beginning to look as if the postal service is seriously thinking about hiring me... a bit of good timing if it happens, especially since Glenn lost his second-largest client yesterday.

    Y'all have a great day!

  8. It's okay SOM. I put some Aquaphor on it for the day..I had put the vaseline on her head last night and washed it off this morning and got some cradle cap off. The hardest part is her soft spot..

  10. CM, how are you today? Any big plans for you and the girls?

  11. Hey everybody!

I got some verification from my doctor, yes, I have a neuroma on my foot, and I bought some Johnson's Soap and Foot Powder for a soak.

OH MY. I recommend this highly. My foot felt SO GOOD soaking in that very warm water.... for anyone with tired feet, this would be wonderful. You can also use it in a bath, but it's slippery, so use a bathmat so you don't fall. johnsonsfootpowder.com is the website. You can find it at many pharmacies, and it wasn't expensive at all. I found 8 packets for $3.29 at a local pharmacy, WalMart may have it for even less. Smells a little funny, but not 'bad' and it didn't scare away the cats (lol). They found it very interesting.

I don't expect overnight miracles, but I sure felt better after that hot soak. I'm hoping that if I keep up with this, I may get relief. I -think- I feel a little bit already, but I'm trying hard not to walk as much as I had to yesterday, my quad and calf are quite sore. I also got a handicapped hang tag good until my birfday in 2013. I promise not to use it unless I really have to... there are people who really really need those handicapped parking spots. But it's a great security blanket in case I can't walk far on any given day.

It's just a relief to know what I have. Google on neuroma and you can find a lot of information on it. It's kinda like a pinched nerve, but a bit different. This is a nerve that has gotten inflamed and swollen.

On better things...I had a cuddler twice last night! Hermes almost always comes to bed with me, and that's cuddle one...I got up to use the bathroom about 3, and I got cuddle two. Cuddle two is Sleepy Cuddle(tm) and he's usually very full of sleepy purr and drool. :-)

  12. Good morning, all!

Good luck with the driving test, Annecetera. Keeping paws crossed for you.

Siobhan, I'm glad you found something that makes your foot feel better. Don't hesitate to use the handicapped tag for your car if you need to, that's what it's for.

CM, I hope Abbie's rash clears up soon.

I'm happy to report that George and his favorite human are back on speaking/snuggling terms after yesterday's little spat.

Hope everyone has a good day, whatever it brings.

  13. hi Siobhan and Kilroy!

MC, no plans today..my sister and I plan to take the girls to see the easter bunny tomorrow. That will be fun. today is cold and overcast, so i plan to clean up a bit..doing laundry...vacuuming..dishes..etc..

Siobhan, How wonderful that the foot soak worked for you. I will keep everything crossed for you.
Kilroy, I am glad that Daddy and Georgie are back on speaking terms :)
Ann, Good luck on your test today, I am sorry I forgot to tell you that earlier!! I know you will do great!

  14. Hi SOM, CM, MC, Sio & Kilroy! *looks up at folks coming into the cafe from under a pile of orange fluff*
Kilroy - did you see all the backups into the city today? When I was trying to get Catherine close to the city without going in I came dangerously close to getting on to the GW Bridge. I'm SUCH a country mouse! (we found a ferry)

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  15. Hi Joan!!
Why do you have orange fluff on you??

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  16. tee-hee! I've been playing with the agency kittens!
Leela was a looney toon this morning, mostly that's her usual self but she was a bit confused because daddy was out of town last night.

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  17. I didn't notice anything with the traffic, Joan, but I just walk across the street to the subway in the morning, which puts me out right in front of where I work. The only thing out of the ordinary was a lunatic crazy guy ranting up and down the platform in the subway station, and that's not *that* unusual.

I'm glad you managed to avoid the bridge! The signage around the GW is so bad; hubby has ended up on the wrong side more than once while driving upstate, and oh my goodness doesn't he say bad words when that happens!

Hugs for looney Leela, I hope her world is all back in order today.

  18. Morning everyone. Ann good luck on your driving test, Siobhan, so glad you are getting some relief for your foot.

I have some exciting news to share!!!!! Hubby and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary in September and had been looking for a special trip to take..and bargain shopping for it. Well we found an incredible deal on a 14-night transatlantic cruise in November!!!!! We are going to fly to Barcelona and then get on board the Celebrity Century and visit Cartagena, Gibraltar, Madeira and the Canary Islands and then cross back to Miami! We had originally thought to go to Germany and Austria, but this was too good a deal to pass by as the price includes the airfare to Barcelona! We will miss Thanksgiving with the family, but we will be having a trip of a lifetime!!!!

  19. At least I don't have to go near that on a daily basis. I saw the backups on that local cable channel.
Safe to say that spring is here, even though it doesn't feel like it. The robins are here, which is really nice, but also, the bears are awake!

  20. Hi KK! That sounds awesome! Hubby and I are headed for our 20th anniversary in August.

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  21. Ooh, KYK that trip sounds awesome! Hubby & I cruised with Celebrity on our trip from Amsterdam to St. Petersburg, it's a good cruise line. Congrats on the anniversary.

Joan, it looks like there was a multi-vehicle pileup in Manhattan early this a.m. that backed things up on the GW; what a mess! Congrats to you (early) on making it to 20 years; I can only hope hubby and I make it that far :)

  22. Good morning, everyone! I'll take a strong coffee and some cinnamon buns, please.

Ann, good luck with the driving test. Siobhan, glad to hear you're getting some relief for your foot.

Sophie has just found another "ball" -- a wadded up piece of paper -- and wants me to play fetch with her. What a clown she can be! If I don't respond fast enough, she drops the ball behind my foot then embraces my foot from the front, batting the paper back and forth with her paws.

Hmmm, KYK - a TDK anniversary meet...

  25. www.crucon.com is the website. At least indulge in some fantasizing and check it out!

  26. Morning! It's still morning where I am.

Best of luck to those in need. Hugs to all, whether you need 'em or not. ;)

Another quiet day in the office. Can't wait for the work week to be over.

I am gearing up for a busy Saturday; get new fridge, install new disposal, change oil in car. Whoo hoo !!! Excitement abounds. lol

Sunday will be more fun. Headed out of town (2 hr drive) to see a 3noted Hawaiian singers/slack key guitarists. Really looking forward to that!

  27. Back from Golf (if that's what you call it I did!)...... glad you're getting some foot relief Sio!... KK sounds like you will have a marvelous anniversary! Hubbs and I went back to Scotland for our 20th (and took the kids)! Spent 3 fabulous weeks roaming the UK!
...laughing at George and Mr. Kilroy.....guys are the biggest babies when they are sick or mad! (even guy cats!)... glad they made up! (and no offense to you guy TDKers!).....my only experience has been with my hubbs and son, and they both are the worst patients! and terrible pouters when they're mad! LOL

  28. ... how stubborn can one cat be?..... I've been trying to get Abby to eat a little wet food in the morning (the vet says she needs it because her poops are so hard, eating only dry food, and she needs more protein)..... anyway I've tried it in the past, and she would have nothing to do with it. This time I thought I was being smart (silly me!) because for the past 2 mos. I have been taking her food up in the afternoon, and then not feeding her again until morning... that way she's hungary every morning..... I thought for sure she would eat the wet food this morning because of course she wakes me up now evey morning crying and starving! Well, same wake up routine, the crying, the running to her bowl and the imploring looks, so I put the wet food in and...... she takes one wiff, glares back and me and walks away disgusted!..... so I think ok you, I'll just leave it there, and eventually she'll get hungary and eat....... 6 hours later, she hasn't touched it, and is sitting in her donut bed (right by her bowl), napping like she doesn't have a care in the world!.........

  29. AV, I went through that same thing with my girls. What brand of dry food does Abby eat? My girls eat Science Diet but I was trying to get them to eat Fancy Feast. Then Susie suggested that I try the SD and they ate it! Now they refuse to touch SD and want only the grilled and morsel types of Fancy Feast. But no chicken - they both got together and must have decided that they don't like chicken.

I've even been able to hide the four daily drops of Bach's Rescue Remedy for Pets in Windi's food, and we think that it might be helping a little bit. She's been awfully affectionate the last few days. Of course the door bell rang last night and she immediately went under the bed. But she came out as soon as she knew the intruders were gone.

  30. AV does she like tuna juice? Or the oil packed tuna? That might help her some. My kits only like wet food that is heavy on the gravy.
