  1. Well, I can't leave you without a bit of homework, MollyCat. But please do contact your doctor tomorrow and ask for a muscle relaxer. And I wonder if wearing those little toe separators would help?

  4. You have my prayers Mollycat. Can you also take calcium if you don't already? I was taking potassium for severe leg cramps and found out I also needed calcium. It worked really well. I am so sorry you have to wait in suspense until your doctor appointment and also be suffering such discomfort. I pray for a positive outcome at your appointment and relief from your physical stress.{{{{{MC, Betty & Wilma}}}}}

  5. Aw, thanks guys! You are the best. I already take calcium so we are covered there! I also take potassium but the doc doesn't think it is a potassium shortage since the foot spontaneously goes into that "clawlike" position on its own and stays that way! Plus it is accompanied by numbness and tingling JUST on the LEFT side. She said it does sound suspiciously neurological in nature and wouldn't you know I had just started working out again (with the blessings of my doctor) within the last month! I hope I didn't damage something. Not a very good night for sleep. Hard to sleep when one leg won't let you! I think the girls wanted to kick me out of the bed and put me on the couch. Thanks again for all your positive thoughts, prayers and concern. I just know with TDK behind me, things HAVE TO GET BETTER! :)

  12. I am sorry to hear of your problems. Don't you think it is time for another neurological work up? I would want everything rechecked again. As you told me, the neglect of responding to neurrological issues can lead to permanant damage or worse. In the meantime my prayers are with you. May God heal all your damage and may you be lifted up into his care and feel comfort and strength relieving your pain and stress. May you feel the Blessings that surround you and hold you close.

  13. Oh MollyCat - I don't blame you for being scared. As the others have said, try not to worry about it; I know - that's very difficult when you don't even know for sure just what is wrong. You will learn more on Monday and I'm sure that will help. If it does mean surgery, then at least the problem will be resolved, and you can get on with the rest of your life without that worry. In the meantime, I hope the doctors do give you some muscle relaxers or SOMETHING to help with the cramps and pain. Sending prayers, white light, healing energy and hugs to you. {{{MollyCat}}}

  14. Healing white light and prayers for you Molly. It is going to be a long weekend. If the budget allows, try to get a massage tomorrow. It might help some. I have a problem with my right leg cramping in weird places and trying to curl up sideways and it is caused when my sciatic nerve gets pinched. I have scar tissue from two herniated discs. I hope they do an MRI and possibly a myelogram and get to the root of the problem. Prayers up for the medical professionals who will help you return to health.

  19. thanks all! the neurologist office called today to check on me. i was reminded that if i have any problems not to hesitate to go to the ER over the weekend. their only concern is that the ER doc's wouldn't know specifically how to deal with Chiari Malformation as it is relatively rare. i was going over a national chiari website today and was deeply disturbed by all the symptoms i have that indicate possible swelling of the brain requiring surgical intervention to remove that portion of the brain and/or skull. i am having significant headaches (10-20X WORSE than migraines), memory/word finding problems, balance problems, agitation at small things (thought that was my boss!), twitching of my eyes, incoordination (dropping things/difficulty picking up things/buttoning things), dizziness, nausea/vomiting, sensitivity to light/sound.......... AND I thought those things were all because I just had a birthday! :P If you could, I would appreciate the prayers to continue. Thank you.

  23. You have my continued prayers, MC. I don't think I have heard of your condition before. It certainly sounds like your neurologist is on top of things. I hope that appointment on Monday will answer the question of what needs to be done. Just know that you have our love and support.

  24. The surgery has an 80% sucess rate. Did the doctors not make the notation in your records? There is a neurologist on call. This is a very serious neurological disorder. If your neurologist feels that there may be a conflict they could admit you and have you under neurological observation, but I would think they would have a notation in your records. All the information should be at their fingertips.

    If the neurologist decides to do surgery, has he done it before? There is a neurologist in Texas--one of the very best. Dr. Nath. I am very concerned because this is not known to get better on its own.

    You are in my prayers--may God hold you in his warm and tender care guiding you to the proper medical help. May His strength flow through you and build you up for what ever you must face. May peace be with you.

  25. Up to this point they thought that I had migraines as my mom and grandpa had severe ones. It was such an "accident" that they found the abnormality when I fell off the ladder last year. My neurologist had already been following me for my migraines which were always hard to control and didn't respond as well to migraine meds and were often quite severe. Once this was found she said I didn't have "typical" migraines but CM migraines which are actually much worse (yay!). But, since I was asymptomatice otherwise, she just said we wouldn't really look at the CM much further. She said I could go the rest of my life without anything more than the headaches. Hmm, makes me wonder what might have aggrevated it? I have two CM books that I have briefly flipped thru and since we are having 9-12" of snow tomorrow, I think I might actually READ them this weekend! I want to go in Monday armed and ready for the doc. She is the best neurosurgeon in the area but if she doesn't give me the answers I want I am requesting a referral to the Mayo Clinic CM Clinic. Phew, I am on a soap box tonite! Sorry guys. Thanks for all your love and inspiration!

  26. MC, don't be afraid to demand the best from your doctor! After all, it is YOUR life. If, as SM says, the surgery has an 80% success rate, then that is pretty good. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you didn't have those awful headaches anymore?

  28. Holy cow, MC! I'll keep everything crossed for you and will brave the wrath of four kits at home and cross their toes too! Keep the faith...this has got to come out alright! {{HUGS}}

  29. MollyCat, my nursing advice is to read this weekend and write down all of your questions. Don't let the neurologist out of the exam room unless they have answered every single one of your questions. And if you aren't comfortable or happy with their answers, ask for a referral for a second opinion.

    I am so sorry that all of this is happening and wish that I were close to come and help. But I am praying for you as hard as I can.

    Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  30. WWM, I would LOVE for you to go to the neurologist with me! You would be awesome support, I swear I can't remember anything anymore! After reading on the Mayo site today I realize that can also be due to the compression of the tonsils of the brain! Who'd a thunk it???
