MC, I have been biting my tongue for some time now, but reading your comment about what the neuroologist said about the ER docs , truly shocked me to the point that I must speak out.
First of all, Arnold-Chiari malformation is not that terribly rare , in so that most medical professionals would have heard of it and know the basics. Of course, if you were to go to a small community hospital, there may not be experts on this, but basic medical knowledge and a basic neuro exam would tell any half way good doc, that this is all quite serious and therefore they would transfer you to a major facility. I see that you are in the Chicago area, there are many excellent teaching hospitals there. Any one of them I am certain would have qualified neurologists and neurosurgeons on staff and on call 24/7.
I saw many cases of Arnold-Chiari because many babies with spina bifida have this malformation in conjunction with hydrocephalus.
I am begging you to please consider going to a major center to be checked out, if need be to the ER. I am franlkly shocked that your doc did not see you right away and despite thinking that this was of concern, in fact even discouraged you from going to the ER. I do not understand this.
MC, I cannot imagine how scared you must be, but better to know and be taken care of than to continue to worry and wonder. You are obviously very perceptive and know that there is something different with your body and you clearly show appropiate concern. Please listen to yourself, you know that you need to be seen. I pray that this turns out to be nothing that serious, but, what if it does need to be addressed right away....better to be where you can be helped.
I have not said any of this for fear of making you more afarid, that is not my intention. I just want you to seek help now.

Thanks TL, no you did not make me feel bad. Being in healthcare myself (who specializes in all things neurological) I have been amazed in the past year how few people that I have dealt with because of my back and neck have even "heard" of a CM. It scares me! My neurologist couldn't get me in cause the kids here are on spring break this week and she is out of the office. She has gone into private practice in the past two years and is no longer in the big practice she was once in. That is why they said go to the ER if I need to. Anyways, I have a raging headache today. Looks like me and the girls are going to do some heavy duty snuggling today. Blizzard conditions this afternoon with 2-3 inches of snow per hours, 40-50 mile per hour winds and 5 foot drifts. YIPPEE!

I hope you can get more resolved on Monday! Until then, stay in with your girls and read and make a list of questions you have for the dr. I think your area is going to be hit with the storm moreso that ours....I'm wishing you the very best, MC and pray for a good outcome for you!

I continue to keep you in my prayers, MC. Please take care, and if you feel at ALL like things need attention before Monday, please GO TO ER. The headaches and painful cramping sound awful, and surely they can help you through the weekend to make you more comfortable till Monday.

Feral if you send me some sun from Calif and GreatDane sends some from Florida I am covered! I am sending GD a snowball, would you like one too? TL, tnanks for continued prayer, I know it is helping. Beth, I knew Betty and Wilma were up to no good this morning when they took off with my cell phone into the bedroom.............off to call Lydia again. Hmm, they are up to no good those three. Due to the bad headache I am keeping all the curtains closed but I keep peeking for snow, none flying yet.....but when I flipped to the weather channel it doesn't look like we can avoid it!

ooh that's who lydia was talking too. she went in the bedroom and shut the door to talk in private, she came out shaking her head and saying " meow worried about betty and wilma's meowmy and she wiped her eyes with one of her paw tufts" i told her not to worry that betty and wilma have the situation under control and that she may go through the worm hole to see them if she gets to worried. she said she felt better, and will stay near the phone incase she's needed.
please keep us posted on how you are doing , you are in our thoughts and prayers. snuggle with your kittygirls, they love their meowmy

I had a fight with the neighbor (live in a duplex) who is a really inconsiderate MAN. He is divorced and I see why. He is ex-air force and has these icky snake tattoos that wind up his arms. He is SOOOO loud and such a slob. He just "drops" trash in the garage and slams around like its nothing. Up to today I had not ever really said anything. His mom is always trying to set us up, uh, no thanks mom! He and his son and his ex were (in his words) "playin' with the garage door" putting it up and down, up and down, up and down. That is the last thing I want to hear when I want to gouge my eyeballs out from this CM headache I got going on. I finally went out into the garage and let them all have it. (Surprised to see his 8 year old is all tattooed too) He tells me I don't know what it is like to have kids, I told him he obviously don't know what it is like to have migraines! He just laughed. I said if it happens again, I am callin' the landlord and I'm NOT just playin'! I think this all has me on edge, my tummy is gurgly too. Beth, the girls said to tell you depending on where you live if you have Cricket wireless they have an unlimited cell plan that is $40/month with no credit check. That is what they want since they don't have social security numbers! LOL Then they will be calling Lydia all day long! And probably all the cats here on TDK! (think it includes a basic phone too!)

that stupid inconsiderate man.. some people are just selfish and care nothing for themselves. i'm glad you let him have it !! his son will be just like him.. blech.... glad you never went out with him , what a looser. he said you don't know what it's like not the have kids?? what does that have to do with slamming the garage door up and down disturbing others? i'd kick my kids butts if they were doing something so inconsiderate... and yes you have kids , they are short , furry and don't slam garage doors. they talk on the phone alot ... but thats not hurting anyone !! grrrr, i will set lydia on him if he bother's you again. i told her about this and she was about to crawl in the worm hole and bite that nasty man in the leg.
she said yes she does have the cricket free calling and for me not to worry about a bill. but she will call betty and wilma later to check up on you !!

Mollycat, do you have someone you trust who can go with you to the doctor. I have become convinced of the importance of having an adocate when you are in a medical situation. When you are sick or in pain it is hard to process information and come up with all the questions. Someone with you can make notes and help remember all that was said and sometimes comes up with a question you don't think of. My sister did this for me when I was sick last summer.

Just a little Sunday update. Still have a massive headache that makes me want to gouge my eyeballs right out of my head. My foot has calmed down considerably this weekend and I believe it has to do with me propping it up and not walking on it as much. As soon as I start walking on it a bit, it starts acting up. We had no power here this morning due to the snowstorm so me and the girls stayed in bed late and are gonna be pretty lazy here today. Tomorrow is the big day at the neurologist!!!

More hugs and prayers, MC. Lady Coco and Sophie Dorothea send their softest purrs and and teeny, tiny, gentle paw pats for pain reduction.

I just saw Willow and Windi down on their little black knees and they seemed to be softly speaking. I think that they were praying for MollyCat.
